*I'm deaf in my right ear which is why I'm not wearing headphones. I know, it's a bummer not to get the panning sounds. It's also been a bummer to only have one ear my whole life for lots of other reasons, like, playing telephone growing up, I was terrible at it. But, I'll be ok, and I'm getting both channels in the earbud, thanks for your concern :)

Like yourself, Chino trimmed back down at a later age. This was actually 7 yrs after Minerva. SNW('06)/Hole in the Earth video is when there was the most Chino to love. Major re-play quality to this band because of how catchy and unique the songs are. I think Risk, from the same album, will be a big hit for you, whenever you get to it.
I like the "whileeeeeee...it's a beautiful whileeeeeeeeeee" part. It sounds so dreamy.
This one is two albums after their self titled album which is Minerva from. Chino lost some weight after their previous record (Saturday Night Wrist) and this one (Diamond Eyes).
Can't wait to see your reaction to Diamond Eyes, Risk and Rocket Skates from the same album.

Song is off Diamond Eyes, so post 2010. Another clue is Sergio Vega is the bassist, so after Chi Cheng’s car crash in ‘08. BTW, if you have a chance and are able to find it Chi released a CD of his poetry called the Bamboo Parachute during the tour supporting The White Pony.
Crazy how even though it feels so recent, Diamond Eyes was about a decade ago.
One of my favorite songs by these guys. They really did an amazing with that song and the album overall

About the video: After the success of White Pony in 2000, the band started to go in a very dark path of "party hard": mostly alcohol & drug abuse, by the recording of 2007's Saturday Night Wrist they didn't even like each other very much. Chino eventually had to quit some of his vices, (smoking, alcohol, among other things) because he almost lost his voice somewhere in between. Minerva, Hexagram and Bloody Cape are from their 2003's self titled album. If you watch the videos for Hole In The Earth or Mein which are from 2007's Saturday Wrist, you'll see an even "bigger" Chino. After bassist Chi Cheng's car accident in late 2008, Deftones got their shit together, the whole band lost weight, quit drugs, and became closer as friends, they invited Sergio Vega as bassist and created the album Diamond Eyes (2010) "Beauty school" is a single from that album, so this is way after Minerva and the video reflects one of the best moments of the band, after all the shit and darkness they experienced
Chino had way worse vices than smoking and alcohol haha but yea he was in pretty bad shape from 2004-2006 while working on "Saturday Night Wrist" and happy he got clean and back in shape after that.
The footage from this video was from the 2011 spring tour in support of "Diamond Eyes" and it was maybe their best I have ever seen them play. Interesting note, you can see Chino and Stef wearing Dillinger Escape Plan shirts and hoodies throughout this video (they were on this tour as well), another band I have recommended on this channel before. Maybe they will move up the queue now after this Deftones co-sign

This is actually later Deftones where Chino lost a lot of wait prior to this album. I believe this came out around 2010. Minerva was on their self titled album which was released in 2003.

Maybe you should check out their "Prayers/Triangles" song, from their latest album (Gore 2016) It has an official music video. Also from Gore i recommend "Phanthom Bride" (featuring a solo by Jerry Cantrell), "Rubicon" and "Geometric Headdress" 😉
Oh and the song "Diamond Eyes (from the album with that same name) is great too and it also has an official music video 😉
Beauty Schools Music video was always a one of a kind music video. Love this song.

Such a unique rock band with one of the greatest vocalists in rock history I feel. Skin is an amazing female lead with power and beauty in her voice

Tool, Deftones and QOTSA are my favourite (fairly) modern rock bands. They each feed their own niche in my musical heart!
they're definitely a possibility i've only heard no one knows and go with the flow, everything else i haven't heard and i could probably do those ones live as i've only heard studio versions
Agree. QOTSA is SO different and SO good!! I love every album. Saw them last year. Great!
They're definately an eclectic and varied band who you can't judge easily from one track. Got a real sense of fun mixed with some stoner rock and dark overtones. 👍

Awesome, thank you so much for the shout out, loved the reaction, this song is amazing👌 on first thought this song sounded to me straight sexual, but then I realized he could be talking of the feeling they get on stage, or the more general and essential view of beauty, that for it to be true you have to enjoy it
I was looking for any comment on here that said sexual...because....seems like some people try to find alot of other meanings for something that seems so passionate between the writer and the muse. Chino is talking about a girl...that he is really into, and he likes when he sees her under all the makeup when they go to be intimate. " I watch you taste it, I see your face. I know I'm alive." She's going down on him, she looks up, (imagine POV style) and he feels good plus maybe extra adrenaline. Some people get high &/or addicted to sex. "You're shooting stars from the barrel of your eyes". He really likes her eyes and thinks she looks beautiful or maybe she knows that he's "Chino" and she seems him as a star or "idol". "It drives me crazy. It drives me wild!" Ummm.....hes really happy that he's getting oral". The whole thing screams "oral" to me and Chino doing a classy job describing it to all of us. It's about passionate intimate moments with a female that he's just getting to know & talking to because he's seeing her in a different way now that they're intimate.

I got into them a few years back and they are constantly throwing out some bangers. They even did a track with Chino. I think you’d appreciate them. Well man.
