*I'm deaf in my right ear which is why I'm not wearing headphones. I know, it's a bummer not to get the panning sounds. It's also been a bummer to only have one ear my whole life for lots of other reasons, like, playing telephone growing up, I was terrible at it. But, I'll be ok, and I'm getting both channels in the earbud, thanks for your concern :)

I think this song was about Chi, the bassist who at the time was in a coma before passing away. How he was sort of entombed in his own body and how limited his senses were. Most of this album I believe was about Chi. RIP
Awe Ive always associated this song with parenthood or just the feeling of being with a person so dearly close to you but it makes so much sense it it is about Chi. If it is actually about Chi the lyrics “shapes and colours are all I see” definitely take a new meaning and a very sad one, which sucks bc I’ve always loved that line and made me happy 😅
This was a song about the loss of their fellow bandmate Chi Cheng. Beautiful song.
I don't know if this is a weird thing but I love reading a good fantasy book with some music in the background. This is the album that I usually start with and this particular song always reminds me of that. I don't think this Deftones album got the recognition it ever deserved but it's certainly my favourite album, I just love it.
Crosses - Option
Chino delivers the song very similarly to this one :D
I agree with your interpretation and I somewhat agree with your Parent Child analysis. you should do Phantom Bride next.
Waiting for 'Risk' 👍
your wait will end soon
“Tropics” Palms. Chinos other band. Beautiful
Yes Tropics please
Risk. Combat. Poltergeist. Deathblow Lhabia
Deftones- what happened to you
Yep!
A track that is clearly about Chi, and usually never mentioned as a recommended play. One of the most powerful and gorgeous tracks on the record.
@Ryan - I too have always interpreted this song as an ode to parenthood. Possibly even a metaphor for potentially a religious commitment. It can be metaphorical or simply literal. Definitely an acknowledgment of some form of bliss.
yes yes great song
3:58 for god sake, that feeling
Not gonna lie I was late in finding Deftones just like I’m a year late finding your channel and these reactions lol this is the 1st album I heard from them and this song was what did it for me , had me hooked, made me listen to all their albums and made me a fan for life!!! better late then never!!!
Yessssss! Thanks man this is my favorite song of theres
Can’t really pick a fave song from them as it varies on my mood but this one is definitely a stand out and one that I keep coming back to very often.
Entombed is basically talking about falling in love. All of Koi No Yokan is about love
Deathblow
I'm with you Jersh. I much prefer the sound and vibe from this newer era of deftones. I like the older stuff still, but they have continued to grow as a band and I love their direction. This album is their masterpiece, as far as I'm concerned. Def check out Graphic nature, and Risk from diamond eyes.
I love shoegaze deftones so much
I hope we'll see Combat, Lhabia and Deathblow at some point in this Deftones marathon!
9:21 onwards always tears me up..frank's keyboard and steph's riff..jesus..
One of their most beautiful songs, agreed on the interpretation. Maybe *Poltergeist* next?
Deftones - Romantic Dreams
He's done it.
@@derekbittner1297 He hasn't done Romantic Dreams but I've been requesting it. He has done Graphic Nature though.
@@marisasuarez5291 You're right! I got them switched up for some reason. Romantic dreams is my JAM.
@@derekbittner1297 amazing song :) but I feel it's underrated and overlooked compared to other tracks.
You've done tempest ( my favorite song) Gauze and now entombed , risk next pls. Thank you 😁
My favorite song off this album. I played Koi No Yokan nonstop for months spinning this in my car. I love this album.
Favorite deftones song by far
Diamond Eyes
Risk
Battle-axe
No Ordinary Love
The Chauffeur
Crenshaw Punch
Lucky You
Headup
Interesting that you so quickly picked up on the "parenthood" theme. I'm not a parent myself....but I definitely picked up that vibe the first time I ever heard this song.
I think you're right on the mark.
Been a fan since their first album dropped . Totally prefer their shoegaze sound over their heavy sound although they are great at combining it . Check out the band HUM . Deftones had them as an influence .. and hum just came out with a new album in 22 years and it might be their best
Does Anyone Else Hear The Beeping Sound In The Last Line?
Awesome reaction, it is really one of the most beautiful songs
My god this song is beautiful, I forgot just how much I loved it... I'm almost ashamed
great song, great reaction! One of the more overlooked songs from their canon but a real standout imo.
In terms of what's left to react to that you haven't yet, these are the songs i feel are essential to their own reaction video as opposed to just an album listen:
Bored
Root
Birthmark
Teething (Crow 2 soundtrack)
The Chauffeur (Duran Duran cover)
Mascara
Headup
Damone
Be Quiet and Drive (acoustic remix - very different interpretation + has video)
Simple Man (Lynryd Skynyrd cover)
The Boys Republic (White Pony bonus track)
Deathblow
Battle-Axe
Lovers
If Only Tonight We Could Sleep (The Cure cover)
Mein
Riviere
Smile (the lone track released from the shelved "Eros" album)
Diamond Eyes
Rocket Skates (though i believe you did this one but it wasn't released)
This Place Is Death
Swerve City
Romantic Dreams
Prayers / Triangles
Doomed User
Pittura Infamante
Phantom Bride
Agreed! I find it kinda funny how he keeps saying he's "almost done" with Deftones discography.
Um......dude, you've barely even started....
@@avedic I also think it kinda halted the conversation on the specific songs in these comment sections as everyone is afraid their favorite songs won't get picked so the comments are just lists of requests in hopes they get a reaction and ignoring whatever the actual song is that's being reacted to.
amazing song 🤘🤘🔥🔥👌
Deathblowwww 🥺❤️❤️
Her.ion and the beach and some deftones go hand and hand
Maybe my favorite Deftones song. So damn good!
You do seem to prefer this era: '10-'16. And you've only done the 1 song from Gore. So could I effectively lobby you to do a Let's Listen from that album instead of Adrenaline (if it's zero-sum)?
recording at least one more from gore this week. let's listen definitely possible depending on how many tracks don't get a reaction
Rubicon please.
@@SuperJersh That sounds good. The big songs from that album, outside Hearts/Wires, were Prayers/Triangles, Phantom Bride, and Doomed User. Obviously you can't get to nearly every song on every album. Not realistic. But if the key ones are hit at least, should give good perspective on the bands, albums, and eras.
good reaction to a good song, its time to react to what happened to you, this song is for Chi :(
Crenshaw punch jersh? On the list?
When ever i hear this song i think of the superman movies
It’s for his son
🤘🏼🔥
Klone - immersion, Fog, the Drifter, immaculate Desire, into The Void, Yonder, Breach, Sealed, Nebulous...
Check out what happened to you! 😉
Great music is just vague enough for the listener to connect their own situation with the lyrics .
