I just want to say that your video explanation was very easy to understand and the greatest for people who do not have knowledge in HVAC.I also looked at other videos and I thought my multimeter was defective the way they explained it. GREAT JOB KEEP UP YOUR GREAT WORK.!
Video was a huge help, thanks. My yellow wire was corroded and broke off the terminal on the compressor. I cleaned up the terminal, cut the corroded part off the wire, installed a new connector and the A/C works.
Old hvac student but never done ac until lately.. great video though! But sometimes is very hard to ge t to the compressor pins . Went to check a not starting compressor the other day when , put a new dual cap, compressor would not start, when I checked for ohms one the lines was OL, didn’t check for ground. All of these I checked form the wires coming from the compressor. Made a mistake not taking the harness off compressor and checked each wire for continuity. Keep these great videos coming. Rafael from California will appreciate it. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes but try to learn as much as possible from school or any source you can get hands on before going out there and misdiagnose a unit.
Nice vid bro. I checked mine out exactly as described. Bad start cap. A trip to the amazon and done. Nice and cold with a new cap and compressor working like a champ.
I like the video excellent!!! However motors especially outdoor condenser fan motors when ohm out motor for short is good but STRESSING the windings with a megommeter is best. Great video again.
Thanks ,that’s a great job. I suggest a proper insulation resistance test should have been carried out with an insulation resistance tester (merger). More so you didn’t specify the expected normal resistance of the compressor to serve as an expected datum for comparison. Thank.
Hello. 7m. Of the video I could see you the results but you did that procedure in continuity (I saw it in your multimeter). Is there any difference in the results if I select resistence in the multimeter. Thanks in advance.
Good video. One thing I do when I’m working on my ac unit though is I shut off the main breaker before pulling out that disconnect for safe measure . I’ve seen some of those disconnects falling apart because they’re cheaply made. just an FYI.
Question is can we have a motor test ok as this one did and yet have issues with the cylinders as in a car with bad compression causing troubles and even needing a new compressor

Thanks for the video, still stumped though. I have a buzzing noise when the compressor tries to kick on, and it doesn't start. Capacitor is fine, contactor is fine, continuity of the wires is fine, resistance of the compressor is fine. I think that might mean it's something mechanical with the compressor itself?
Hi it helps , but what happen if 2 of 3 OL open??? Is that mean it bad and compressor need replacement or ac replacement??? Is there a way to fix?? Thank you
Just because it beeps when checking the compressor means it is good? What if the resistance is wrong? Sorry, I see later you do get resistant numbers and add them.
Your kick ass for making a video but some advice You should describe it not only as a blue wire but if it’s fan wire or common not just blue wire yellow wire black wire
GEEZ , the guy helping me at AC place their place not open today or tomorrow AND I need to ask him again something . He said on blower motor if I disconect the cool terminal wire on circuit board and connect the bottom black wire to cool terminal that ( this is what I'm not sure what he said and needed to talk to him ) if it works ( or doesn't ) that means board is bad NOT the motor ?? OR is it the other way around ?? And yes replaced capacitor . Still the same barely running the blower not full speed and shuts down after a while with new capacitor
Best troubleshooting for hvac video currently out please do more .
Im a student enrolled in hvac school. Your video cleared up alot for me. Simply and effective. Thanks
Thank you Sam for putting out a clear video on how to ohm out a compressor ; this is going to be so useful for me being a novice in the field.
Glad some people getting in the field are trying to do more to learn. Hope your doing good
thanks for the tip, I'm learning and focusing on the career of HVAC technician
Thanks for taking the time to share it with us,Your video cleared up alot for me.

Love this. Straight to the point with great explanation
This is a winner video style. Brief, good visuals, and narration. Plus I have the same unit.

i’m an electrical student but also am going to get my hvac certification this video was very helpful and explained well
40 years of hands on and i give you props bro ,push up!!
Great video!! Very clear and informative! Other videos just piss me off at the lack of detail.
Great stuff brother ! Been doing hvac for 9 years myself !
Thank you, I found a loose connection at the compressor when the weather getting the heat up. Your troubleshooting video is really helpful.👌👏🙂👍
Nice vid bro. I checked mine out exactly as described. Bad start cap. A trip to the amazon and done. Nice and cold with a new cap and compressor working like a champ.
Pretty sure it was a run cap. A bad start cap usually explodes because potential relay went bad and you would have to replace that too.
Best video I can find explains this clear thanks bro . Ur also on my will .
Excellent explanation 👌🏽 🇯🇲🇯🇲
I like the video excellent!!!

Great video again.
Always super informative. Thanks for your videos.
Exactly what I needed, thank you very much sir. Saved me a lot of money..
That was very Educational Bro👍🏻
GREAT VIDEO BUDDY GREAT DESCRIPTION
great video. I would recommend buying a new compressor wire connector for testing only. most spots are tight
Very clear informational video, keep up with the excellent job !!
Thanks very helpful and well explained,by the way you sound like comedian Anthony Jeselneck

Great video but what if the 2 readings don’t add up to the r +s number? Does that point to the problem
Fantastic 💯💯💯
Nice, helpful video. I hope you also discharged your capacitor before touching the wires.
Very informative video. Very clear and concise. thanks for sharing.

Whew that comp has gotten very hot at a few points. Nice vid 👌 ty for your time mate
So based on the final reading was that compressor good?
Great instructional video! Thanks!

Where do you put the black and red probe when testing for run and start?

Good video, but you keep saying I'm going to take my reading on my multimeter. What setting is the multimeter on for each step?
I apologize.. the answer is in the title... it is the setting that allows for ohms. 🙂
Great video,thanks
Great video and very informative 👍🏾👍🏾

Sorry, I see later you do get resistant numbers and add them.
Awesome how you broke it down
very detailed explanation
very informative, thank you
Excellent video. thanks.
Genuine question, isn't that continunity?
Bro!! Ty!!! U just broke that shit down, it is what I needed, I understand compressors now!! Fawk ya
Great video...if all the continuity and resistance was in order, why wasn't the compressor running!? Or was this just a demo? Dying with anticipation!
Good video. I am testing the compressor on a mini split and all readings are the same. (1.9) Does this mean I have a bad compressor?
Very good info thanks for sharing !!
Great video. Thanks!
Thanks Sam, your Tha best !!!
Good explanation....
What are you using on the multimeter as far as a function to do these tests. Thanks
He used continuity which looks like a volume icon and the ohms setting.
Thank you Sam
super badass, thank you!
That test is for single phase only: cs + cr = rs.
Three phase: cs = cr = rs
thankfully most residence is single phase but a good point!

So, since the readings didn't add up for the last test, was this compressor bad?
