i see people without gloves. At this level I feel like gloves should be mandatory

Why? I was an elite rider with the top trainer and I did wear gloves to protect my hands but I also rode 8 horses a day.

Interesting comment. When I rode under saddle back in the day, I actually preferred no gloves but I see your point.

Only men don’t wear gloves, it is mandatory for the women riders to wear gloves. Oops, I just saw a woman without gloves...mmmm...she should have them.

I'm surprised the horse that placed third didn't place first, it's cool but kind of hard to watch like when they ask for the walk from the canter there are so many trot steps, like no when you ask a horse to walk, stop or any transition no matter what discipline you do it walks/stops/transitions immediately no matter what, no extra steps whatsoever its simply basics.

I agree. The transition should be quick and straight into the next gait, with no trotting.

Interesting to watch this style of showing in the states. The horses seem to be on a much longer rein than English-style showing. I also notice the very minimalist and high standard of turnout. I feel that the judge could have split the class as this is a pretty big class. It would have allowed riders and horses more room to strut their stuff. Then pick the best of each class and finally choose the winners. Having said that, it's really good to see showing alive and well in countries other than England, Australia and New Zealand. Albeit 11 years ago!

I'm wondering how you judge a class when the horses are not on the rail. Nothing to compare each horses movement when they are all over the ring.

@@sadiestoltzfus9798 well i mean theres like 30+ horses all going different gaits, some passing etc

because horses in the usef hunters don’t have to carry their heads in a ridiculous “frame” to be competitive. they carry themselves in a natural position
