As an ex dressage rider now in the hunters, I adore a horse that is collected/working throughout the body. Too often I see these beautiful warmbloods ridden hollow in the back with zero harmony! Number 724 had my eye the whole time, soft hands, small adjustments! her horse not an inch behind the vertical, just a gorgeous, classic frame. 732 was a little handsy to the trained eye, but again, not behind the vertical, both wonderful with engaged contact and eye catching movements.
Archie is explaining to turn your number towards the judge, which is slightly to the outside of the ring. This way when you are passing the judge your number is in their line of vision. It's all about being visible for the judge!
Hi I'm form Switzerland and we don't have any kind of class in english riding, that is similar to this. Could somebody explain what's the idea behind a flat class? Why are they not simply starting in a low level dressage class? Wouldn't they get a more accurate judgement about the pro and cons of their equitation by riding a proper dressage test? I'm not criticizing anything, just trying to understand it. Thanks for any answers :)

@@noellefloyd_plus interesting we don't do that in the breed shows. We have magnets and pins on our numbers.
