I remember seeing them at Giants Stadium in like 00. During this song, it actually started to rain. "Rain...rain.....rain down on me!" Dave was soaked......and his acoustic whaling. Everyone in the stadium was connected. It was magical. truly a unique experience. Then I threw up from drinking too much and some random dave girl started making out with me. gross. oh man. memories.
Great story - I have a buddy that threw up and passed out at a Dave show in lawn Richmond 1996. Some random girl gave him a hand job while passed out! Hahaha we always trip out about that one.
Commonwealth Girls do some weird shit sometimes . I’ve thrown up at a get together and passed out and this one girl kept telling them to give me peppermint it’s ok .... Jesus Christ .
been having strange inclination to revisit the lillywhite sessions lately. grey street, captain.... jtr again one that always lingers. one could easily make the argument for their best dave album ever. still mindblowing.
During the summer of 2001 I moved to Chicago to broaden my horizons and also move in with a gal that I had been seeing long distance. It only lasted a little while. I left to handle some things back east and shortly after I discovered some things about her that did irreparable damage to the relationship. About a month or two later I decided to move to Chicago anyway. I had met and agreed to join a band previous to this new found info and honored our agreement. Fall came, winter hit. Frosty, with few belongings, taking up residence on an air mattress in a back room of the house that was really nothing more than a storage area turned livable, I remember listening to this song on my roommates' boombox many times. It truly imprinted on my feelings of life at the time, the season, processing heartbreak and the transition into a new phase. I will always love this song from the album in particular.
It's a shame that they scrapped the Lillywhite Session. I know they did most of these songs on Busted Stuff, however, I think if Lillywhite did the full production on this, this would have really been a classic DMB album!
I have The Lillywhite Sessions on cassette tape! It's was the only way to bootleg it. I saw them do this in Chicago in 2000. What a treat considering I'd travelled from Denver to that show 🙌🏼
JTR Lyrics [Verse 1] I drink you up For every drop of you is sacred Every drop, I drink you up You fill my cup The way you laugh, eyes of a child Lean on me, you fill me up You make me love So unconditionally generous To me you give me love And break my heart Slip, you fall, I pick you up And dust you off You break my heart [Chorus] Rain, rain Rain down on me Again And again Rain down on me [Verse 2] Take all you want For what is mine is yours No better use is there for what I've got Take all you want And only hope can I you won't deny Your love me for my love [Pre-Chorus] No, don't cry, if it's too high I'll lift you up, we'll make it, make it When I was, oh, so tired You come along to wake me, wake me Time and time, again and again With a smile you save me child [Chorus] [Verse 3] Look we play our cards And I question by the grace of what We play our cards at all Come fill me up Oh, fill me love when I'm empty When I'm all dried up [Pre-Chorus] [Chorus] Rain Rain Rain down on me
Lily white sessions was a scrapped album and it was leaked. Only reason we’re able to find it here is cus of the leak and we are lucky we even have that.
It's just not possible to turn this song up LOUD ENOUGH! Masterpiece! MATF!!!!! Tighter than two coats of paint!

Cant wait to walk down the isle to this!

This is one of my favorite DMB songs. If it wasn't leaked years ago I wouldn't have been able to know this song.

This song was amazing live in Antioch, TN in 2001.
Currently my fave Dave song! Doesn’t get old!
Even DMB doesn't even realize just how good this song is haha
This is my favorite of their unofficial unreleased songs!
probably their most underrated song
Carter Beauford on drums!
Look up ~ "Dave and Tim with Carlos Santana John the Revelator live 03/14/1999"
I love the version on the Live From Folsom Field DVD. They rock the ending so freakin' hard! All the time changes get me every time!

Michael Rashid in retrospect I can see why they didn't, great album, but the material is so melancholy. You can tell they weren't really having fun.
I think as it stands, it's not to be lost as a classic album.
So incredible.
The cowbell makes this song
Needed to hear this song ❤❤❤❤❤

JTR Lyrics
[Verse 1]
I drink you up
For every drop of you is sacred
Every drop, I drink you up
You fill my cup
The way you laugh, eyes of a child
Lean on me, you fill me up
You make me love
So unconditionally generous
To me you give me love
And break my heart
Slip, you fall, I pick you up
And dust you off
You break my heart
[Chorus]
Rain, rain
Rain down on me
Again
And again
Rain down on me
[Verse 2]
Take all you want
For what is mine is yours
No better use is there for what I've got
Take all you want
And only hope can I you won't deny
Your love me for my love
[Pre-Chorus]
No, don't cry, if it's too high
I'll lift you up, we'll make it, make it
When I was, oh, so tired
You come along to wake me, wake me
Time and time, again and again
With a smile you save me child
[Chorus]
[Verse 3]
Look we play our cards
And I question by the grace of what
We play our cards at all
Come fill me up
Oh, fill me love when I'm empty
When I'm all dried up
[Pre-Chorus]
[Chorus]
Rain
Rain
Rain down on me
great!
Dammit, I love 12-string guitars, dammit!!!
oh yes
Sande Raby oh yes indeed
I am what my name says I am....
Holy shit, this is my account/channel. I uploaded these videos a decade ago. I have no idea of the login but I’m sure I can find it
Why don't they have this version on Spotify??
Lily white sessions was a scrapped album and it was leaked. Only reason we’re able to find it here is cus of the leak and we are lucky we even have that.
Requested this song when Boyd was on Preston and Steve the Friday prior....I take full credit hahah
Jtr
Much better than the Santana version!
What does jtr mean
John the revelator
+Mazzan Makupson damn really
Just The Rain
Who's that writing, John the Revelator
I can't believe Ryan Davis cheated on Jolynn with Michelle Thomas and Jennie Pace and Brian Toups covered for them 😳
This is musically my favorite version, and lyrically my least favorite. It’s just a jumbled. Mess.
