Hello luv ❤ Highly recommend Kasey Chambers, "Lose Yourself" Eminem cover live Civic Theatre 😉
thank you
Thank you, Polo!
This is from my high school days. It’s nice to reminisce but…DMB still sucks.
That's strange. I've been trying to get onto Telegram b/c you asked to text you on Telegram. I'm so hopeless with all this stuff. Oh well. I'll keep watching your reactions anyway.
"If this doesn't sound good to you I don't know what you're hearing."
PREACH, brother!!
#41 is musically complex. IMO one of their best live songs out of many
I've seen DMB over 50 times live...no 2 sets the same...they invoke so much emotion...simple pleasures of sound. ...as a musician they create a kaleidoscopic sound...no better than experiencing them at the Gorge along the Columbia river...6 times seeing them there...a highlight of our summer. I see death everyday as a healthcare professional....DMB helps keep me sane ....life is a gift...dont be obtuse...embrace your reality....live...rejoice in good sound.. if u haven't seen DMB...then you're missing out...Gorge 2024 will be lit. Just close your eyes and listen......your welcome !
A live Dave Matthew’s show is some of the most uplifting energy around. People happy dancing, passing the B’s and just vibing together. 🙂
This is so true, such beautiful shows!
Amen! Shout out to the Gorge crew!
Bro have you ever been to a f****** concert a Dave Matthews concert because you have no idea what you're missing and your critiquing s*** that you've never experienced how the f*** old are are you
@@marytriolo3869 every labor day weekend!
Watched 2. Still missing oine more.
I used to work in a major concert venue... seen thousands of shows. Dave Matthews easily is in the Top 10 for best shows... they bring it EVERY SINGLE TIME and each show is unique. Go to a concert before they retire... it's worth every penny. Glad you re-found them... great reaction!
PS... more Dave!!
Lot of people dislike DMB because they were told to. Plus their initial break was with a pretty heavy Fraternity crowd which comes with some "stuff" but anyone to actually give them a chance isn't disappointed.
Very much like the Dude told people to hate the Eagles.
Exactly
I always wondered how the hell such meatheads(aka, fratboys)loved such good music. The power of music...
Yea idk lol. A good freind of mine is a big fan and has had me listen to a lot of their songs. It just isn't for me. I think Crash is up there with the absolute worst popular songs ever.
This music sounds like it belongs in an elevator. I've never been a fan of this guy's music. He's better than Phish though.
Thank you for rising above the hate. Seriously talented musicians . Period.
RIP LeRoi Moore, one of the best Sax players around!
When people say they don’t like “jam bands” I’m baffled! It’s basically saying you don’t like music. The instrumentation is at such a high level, how can’t anyone enjoy a group at the highest level delivering you something so beautiful?
They really are a live band. It feels like their "studio" work has always just been someone deciding to record a show.
very true. I've seen them a couple dozen times live. Great live band. We will be at the kick-off concert for the summer 2024 tour in Tampa!!!
Two step …the Live in Central Park , is maybe one of the greatest live recordings I’ve ever heard!!! Amazing band and incredible vocals….plus 100,000 people in the park. Thank You for sharing this terrific band on your channel🤙
Agree 💯
Abso-freakin-lutely. Two Step is my favorite song of all time by any artist and the Central Park veraion is mind-blowing.
It is amazing! I'm so glad I was there for it.
Absolutely one of the best live recordings! Super cool that it was a FREE concert, too!
I seriously cannot get tired of watching that.
Every DMB song is an onslaught of instruments. The more u listen, the more each instrument stands out. So pleasing to the ears.
Listener supported is an incredible live performance by this band. One of those nights where it all clicks . RIP Le Roi Moore , not the same band after his passing.
The album that hooked me on DMB!
@@MsSweetNNaughty Its magic all the way through too!
I’ve always preferred The heavier genres but saw them live and turned out to be one of the best concerts ever
Same.
LIVE AT RED ROCKS is an album you definitely have to listen to, even on your own. I think it’s one of the greatest live albums ever. I love 90s and early 2000 DMB. As they evolved I didn’t like it as much. But I’ll never have anything bad to say about DMB. The studio albums Under the Table, Crash, and Before these Crowded Streets were just so damn good. With some really good live ones in that era also. Dave and Tim at Luther College is a must also. It may blow your mind!!
All true statements 👍
Agreed. Those three studio albums were their pinnacle. I'm not sure about Red Rocks... I need to give it a listen. Listener Supported is one of the best live albums I've listened to, and I own it on both CD and DVD.
Recommendations:
Long Black Veil (from Listener Supported) - listen to Johnny Cash sing it first in order to get an idea of how many good artists sing the song. DMB's version actually captures the feeling behind the story being told, and the other, happier sounding versions I have heard make no sense to me. DMB's version had become the benchmark for me.
Grey Street - a later track, but it always stood out to me
Crash Into Me - not even going to try... I like a lot of what they do, but that is the song you need to do next.
@@PebbleBeachSouth Listener Supported is a favorite of mine, especially Warehouse, which is my favorite live version of all time.
@cassianfalkener3706 after first watching Listener Supported years ago, I became obsessed with Long Black Veil. Hadn't hears it before and just loved it. The emotion that Dave conveys in that performance is just amazing, always gets me.
Great track. It’s more complex than many, and the DMB does some complex stuff. I think your taste in music has simply become deeper and more appreciative of musicality over time. We either grow or we stagnate.
And as for disparaging remarks by some, we love and appreciate what we love and appreciate. If folks can’t accept that there are as many personal opinions and musical tastes as there are genres, they just need to move on. Thank you!🙏❤️🙏
TOTALLY AGREE!!
Agreed. I know Polo loves Tool. I had friends who were fans, back in the 90s, but I never heard anything that caught my attention or interested me. Rather than jump on his reaction videos for Tool and complain about them, I just skip the video and keep an eye out for something that lines up better with my own tastes. Not sure why people feel the need to comment on a video they probably didn't watch and complain (to put it politely) about how they don't like it. You don't have to like it. You also don't have to tell everyone you don't like it. Nobody cares. :/
DMB is a great live band. Studio albums are outstanding. Great musicianship.
DMB will always be the best. You can’t ask for a tighter group of musicians. The drummer is so smooth, chews bubble gum and blows bubbles while he plays. I will always love these guys. Play more Dave Mathew’s Band! Please! Now you’re hooked! Love ya Polo!☮️💟
He(the drummer) is always smiling!!! Love him!
Blows bubbles ? Really ?? Sheesh !!
Carter Beauford for me is a top 5 drummer of all time
I’m so happy you decided to start the journey!!!!
All songs from Central Park concert;
Jimi thing
Too much
Two step
All along the watchtower
YES!!! DMB is phenomenal! Carter Beauford is a MONSTER on the drums!
My absolute favorite Dave Matthews Band song ever!! Always have this song played everywhere!! Glad you liked it too!! RIP LeRoi Moore best saxophonist ever!! Boyd Tinsley, Carter Beaufort and awesome, and Stefan’s Lessard and of course Dave!! Great stuff! The studio is even better!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
The genius of this song is its pure stream of consciousness lyrics. There is no hook. There is no chorus. There is no repeat of any line. Yet, you are drawn into the lyrics. Then you add the genius of this band, giving you time to ponder the lyrics you just heard with their insane musical talent. Its perfection. This song is my soul.
This is my favorite dmb song and I’ve heard it a million times and I never even realized that about no hook. Cool!
Bro I love how you're open to new music. This is the reason I keep coming back. Do your thing Polo. Straight love bro.
100% agree. Always good to see folks like POLO have their eyes opened to what real music and musicianship is. Counter to what they were raised on. Polo has really evolved. Love it.
Because it's the best song ever written
Three favorite dave mathew songs
1. Bartender (live version at radio city music hall)
2.. Say Goodbye
3. Proudest Monkey
One of the greatest drummers ever!
Such an amazing band and song! They are all such high level musicians. Their drummer Carter Beauford is an absolute master!!
Carter's drums are SO BEEFY and syncopated...SO GOOD!!
Recognizing genius is suggestive I guess. I know it took me a few years,
but I remember the first time I heard Dave sing a Willie Nelson song
called “Funny how time slips AWAY”, it’s like a door opened and now I
can’t get enough! You should hear that by the by. So great to watch you
re-discover DMB ❤
I am so glad you're digging deeper into this band. As a deep music lover I have never, EVER understood the hate this amazingly talented group gets or why they have somehow been branded "frat boy music." The band is INSANELY talented and their live concerts are among the best I have been to in my decades of concert going.
Any live concert is fantastic. The band in the 90s was the gold standard in my mind, however, they are still my favorite band. Their jam sessions are unbelievable. RIP LeRoi. He is so missed. My favorites that I think are worth a listen are, Bartender, All Along the Watchtower (Bob Dylan did this originally, I believe), Grey Street, and A Song That Jane Likes.
RIP Roi. Thank You. LoVE
Booker T on violin had me rolling!!! 😂
same lol
Carter Beauford on drums is probably my 2nd favorite drummer next to Danny Carey
Exactly same here (I lean toward Beauford).
Dave may be the face and the star but they truly are a “Band” of some of the most amazing musicians.
I pretty much agree, but have you ever been to a solo Dave show? Mezmerizing. And funny cuz he usually tells stories ;-)
This is my fav DMB song of all time and I'm glad you enjoyed it!! A couple others to check by DMB are "The Stone" and "Stolen Away on 55th and 3rd", especially live tracks. Enjoy 😊
Huge DMB fan since 1997. Live music is an experience.
Top 3 is so tough because they have so many great ones. Here’s a few that come to mind: Rapunzel, Dancing Nancies, and Don’t Drink the Water. Live versions are always amazing.
You really have to see Dave Matthews live makes a huge difference. amazing!,
You’re one of very few people who have reacted to a DMB song and you picked a perfect launching point. Tough to narrow it down to a top 3 but here’s the 3 that come to mind for me: Warehouse, Crush, and Grey Street.
My top 3 change weekly 😂
I lined up two out of three with you on the songs I recommended. Warehouse was an honorable mention, but I had to go with Long Black Veil. There are very few exceptions to my rule that you should listen to the studio version first, so that you can better appreciate the live version. DMB has some notable exceptions, and Warehouse is one of them. Didn't hate the studio version, but never got into it. The live version is where I finally heard enough of the lyrics to put together some meaning and discover the depth of the meaning of that song. And if the song is on Listener Supported, and you want a live version, that's the one I recommend.
I recommend checking out either Watchtower (cover live) or you might die trying live. Both are awesome songs and their version is pretty underrated/under viewed.
Radio City Music hall "Bartender" is the best live performance i have ever seen. It is a pure vibe
Those who know, love it 😊
The entire listener supported concert/album is amazing
It literally brings tears to my eyes when someone finds out they DO love DMB! @iampolomars do a review from a live show after 2018 when they added Buddy to the band!! Bartender is a good one! Grey Street! Seek up!
DMB concerts are ALWAYS a really great time. Everyone's in a great mood and getting along, dancing and singing. Totally chill and happy time. You should try one sometime.
People love them or hate them. They helped me through my high-school years.
I’m an unapologetic DMB fan! Know almost every song and have seen them 30 times live! Appreciate your appreciation of Dave! 💙🙏🏻
Two Step, Crush, Say Goodbye…. Find the live versions, and I think you will love it! Great video!!
Agreed, two-step is a amazing song. If you never head it give it a listen to, IMO its the best DMB song
Yup, Two Step on the first Red Rocks album and, of course, the Central Park version, are the best!
Two Step for sure!
"Two Step" from the same show is truly special as well. 25 minutes to jam a 6 minute track.
This is America! Love that! I am a DMB fan but have never seen them live or done a deep dive. I wasn't familiar with this track and I'm blown away by the band. Such amazing talent. I've always loved Daves phrasing and timing. He's got a really unique vocal sound. Not a bad range either.
The Stone, Bartender, You Never Know, Seek Up, Two Step, Tripping Billies, Ants Marching, Drive In Drive Out, Best of What’s Around…there are way too many to list! Really enjoyed that video. Needed a good cry! Props and keep it up!
I never really paid attention to this band but since I have been enjoying reaction channels I have noticed how good they are! Thank you ❤ they are all great musicians!
Give them a serious deep dive and I bet you’ll be hooked. I’ve been to so many concerts in my life I lost count. Saw these guys for the first time in 97’ and have been to over 30 of their shows since… still my favorite live band of all time
Love Dave Matthews Band! They have so much sound, saw them in concert, truly special.
this was always one of my favorites along with 'Warehouse' from the first album.
This has gotta be my favorite song from them
Glad you like this. Hope you do more DMB. You should catch them live. They tour every year & are PHENOMENAL! A next song worth seeing is Dave Matthews Band - "All Along The Watchtower" &/or "Don't Drink The Water" both from the (from The Central Park Concert 2003)! Fantastic.🥂
Seen him at the gorge in George WA. Last summer. DMB is a vibe.
In my top 5 fave DMB songs ever! & I don’t care to get made fun of for my love of their music. I was in high school in the late 90s/early 2000s & I played them loud & proud & still do. Raw talent ❤❤❤
This is a deep cut. One of my favorites actually. This track blends into the next, "say goodbye".
lol deep cut.
If you can find it, Dave Matthews and the lead singer from, I think, Phish did a cover of Gin & Juice. First time I heard it, I had to do a reality check on myself! My brain just couldn't comprehend that I was indeed hearing that...😂😂😂
My bad, Josh Poppers from Blues Traveler is who Dave covers it with.
I found DMB when I was 12, now 42 and still my favorite band. Seeing them live is some of the best times I’ve ever had. Please enjoy more, you won’t be disappointed.
#41 is my personalized license plate, obviously for good reason 🥰
Tears and tears... this is heart bursting music. Luv DMB. Best song ever IMHO is ' the dreaming tree' re: life and death. The use of many instruments and carribean jazzy feel. Can I say anything more.
Did u knock on my door, sir?
Yes I’ve been waiting for this one. Don’t drink the water would my next suggestion the lyrics are some of the most incredibly written song lyrics ever in my opinion. Please do more DMB they are so underrepresented in the react space.
Nice to see your conversion before our eyes! D has a unique vocal style, which likely puts off some people. A top notch band behind him makes it hard to ignore their musical genius. Once you love DMB, you love them forever. Try Crash Into Me, Where are You Going, So Much To Say
Dave and a sister adopted their niece when her father and their sister died in a car accident.
And THEN Under The Table And Dreaming went gold.
I was there that night and asked him that question.
And we told jokes to each other for most of an hour while people mostly just watched us have a BLAST together.
One of the rare bands that’s always better live.
Their mainstream music, the music you would hear on the radio, is generally not their best. Their best was what wasn’t mainstream probably with the exception of Crush.
Best live performance of a song ever
Dave is native to South Africa. Check out Dave Matthews live in Central Park song Dancing Nancies. I’d love to hear your reaction.
Warehouse - Live from Alpine Valley Music Theatre
Break Free - Live Trax vol 6 from Fenway Park
Two Step - live from Giants Stadium, E. Rutherford, NJ
Whether you do videos for them or not… I’m so excited for you to EXPERIENCE these performances.
If people were willing to listen, instead of rehashing the same pretend hatred of the band they were told to have, they might actually find one of the greatest bands of all time.
Love DMB. Sooo much talent here. Try "Don't Drink the Water", "Dancing Nancies" and "Two Step", (LIVE, of course)... Carter Beauford on drums will blow your mind! I love it all, though.
Have seen them many times over the years and they just keep getting better all the time. If you love music and have the chance to see them live just go.
Live at Red Rocks is what hooked me, especially best of what’s around. I love all the favs-41, ants, crush, two step, the stone…but also check out their newer stuff-again and again, break free, idea of you, do you remember, why I am…💛
Brothers in the band: Dave included, he's from South Africa.
You absolutely need to watch his Neil Young cover of Cortez The Killer with Warren Haynes!!
Dave Matthews, John Hiatt, Gin Blossoms, The Connells, Matthew Sweet, & The Cruel Sea were the bands that got me through the 90s...
RIP LeRoi Moore (sax)......and the ending of this song.....top notch, Carter Beauford, drums...PLEASE do 'TWO STEP'. Yes, it's an amazing blend of races and cultures. Dave is also born in S Africa. Sad thing is, my family and I have been to more than 50 concerts....and the audience is just the opposite of the band....all white...I've never understood why. My 3 favorites are Two Step, Ants Marching, Grey Street. Thank you,
Holy s&$t I love this band. One of my favorite bands of all time. Do Two Step next. Listener Supported Album is great to dive into.
See them live every year. Still one of the best live bands out there
Dave Matthews Band -The Last Stop (Live In Chicago '98) you'll really see what DMB is all about! Their hits are great but it's their deep track catalog that puts them over the top. Second to none imo!
I remember first getting into DMB in the early 90's whilst in high school.. VH1 for sure! love their sound and much of their catalog. Crash Into Me, Two Step, Ants Marching and Where Are You Going ( featured in Mr. Deeds) are some of my favorites! enjoy the amazing rabbit hole of Dave Matthews Band!
Since my 21st birthday in '95....I have seen this band almost 100x....chasing #41's all over a couple continents.
So cool to see you react to this song. First time commenting. Top 3 other than #41
1. Bartender (acoustic radio city)
2. Crush (Central Park)
3. The stone (listener supported)
And two honorable mentions
1. Pig (any live performance)
2. Don’t drink the water (Central Park)
Love the reaction, 2 thumbs up. A few of my DMB favorites - "Ants Marching", "Dont Drink the Water" and especially "Drive In, Drive Out".
There is a live performance of this song with the band 'The Flecktones' where they both perform together, and they do this song together live. It goes 30+ minutes with all the solos and riffs for just this song. And its fantastic. It looks like all members of both bands had their own solo riff.
They are very charitable in their home community in Charlotte.
Love, love, love Dave Matthew's Band. My only regret in my life was never seeing them live, other than live yt videos. Dancing Nancies next
Wow...I've seen a lot of reaction videos like this, but this is the first one where one gave me goosebumps and teary eyes. Just watching someone discover the greatness of my favorite band for the first time got to me. I became a fan about a year before the live performance of that song, and they just have so many good songs and jams like this. Hope you find more you like!
Welcome to the DMB rabbit hole.....such a tight band. Live and studio. " Ants Marching"
The Dave Matthews Band was exciting to listen to when they got noticed.. the mix of instruments and wildly talented musicians playing them created a complex but intriguing sound that made me want to hear more. I am sorry I never got a chance to see them in concert as I lived in Colorado at the time so really have no excuse. but their live stuff is amazing, and I get you about the King speech.. growing up in inner city Baltimore with a mom who marched with Dr. King on DC makes me even more appreciative of seeing a band of beautiful humans making beautiful music.
Yeah, DMB is stacked with amazing musicians, and they all get their time to shine. The vibe they create in every live show is simply incredible.
So much talent on that stage!! They respect one another and all they all shine and lift each other up!! Magical! Been a fan for as long as i can remember! Crash Into You and You and Me are personally my favorites, for sentimental reasons. However, you really cant go wrong with DMB. ❤
I’ve loved this band since the first album came out in 1994. Always wanted to see them live because they are incredible live. Love your reaction! ❤
Listener Supported is a great show. Check out Live Dave Matthews and Tim Renyolds. Bartender is a great live track.
Amazing Band. Love their music. True artists! Love Grave digger too!
There's two DMB. Album and live. I like both, but I love live.
Huge difference.
My favorite DMB song ❤
I JUST LOVE THIS BAND! SO DIFFERENT THAN ANY ONE ELSE AND I THINK HIS LIVE PERFORMANCES ARE SO POWERFUL! I AM REALLY HAPPY TO SEE YOU EXPLORING THIS BAND!💘💘💘💘💘
Always been a huge DMB fan! Love what they do with musical sound and his voice completely moves me. 💕
I think you’ve seen the power of the fan base behind this band. They’re still playing and crushing it! THANK YOU for taking the time to react to this. This band saved my life
Somebody probably already beat me to it, but there was a saying about 20 years ago: "Carter Beauford is your drummer's favorite drummer" (and similar variation was "Neil Peart is your *favorite* drummer's favorite drummer")
