About Trailmakers:
In the toughest motoring expedition in the universe, you and your friends will build your own vehicles to cross a dangerous wasteland. Explore, crash horribly, use your wits to build a better rig, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find on your way.
Welcome to the Ultimate Expedition!
Journey over grueling mountains, hazardous swamps, and bone-dry deserts on a distant world far from civilization - it is just you, your fellow adventurers and the amazing, jet-powered hover-buggy you built yourself. Explore, crash your vehicle, build a better one, and get as far as you can with whatever spare parts you find along your way.
Trailmakers is about building very awesome vehicles and machines, but you don’t need an engineering degree to get started. The intuitive builder will get you going in no time. Everything you build is made from physical building blocks. Each block has unique features like shape, weight and functionality. They can be broken off, refitted and used to build something new. Individually the blocks are fairly simple, but combined the possibilities are endless.
Expedition Mode is the challenging campaign mode of Trailmakers. You are competing in an off-world rally expedition with only a few building blocks to get you started. You must build, tinker with and rebuild your machine to progress. Journey through a big world, overcome deep gorges, angry wildlife and dangerous weather to progress and find new parts that will juice up your machine. The world in Expedition Mode will test your survival skills and ingenuity.
Sandbox Mode is where you want to head for an unrestricted, sandbox, vehicle-building experience. Here you can build anything you can dream of, and play around with it in the world of Trailmakers. It is a great place to test out crazy machines, and experiment with the physics engine. With tons of different blocks, hinges, thrusters and interactive vehicle parts - the skybox is the limit.
Trailmakers is even more fun if you play it with other people. Build cool vehicles and compete in mini-game modes with your friends or other Trailmakers online. Build a helicopter, send it to your friend, and shoot them out of the sky. Put two seats on a tank, and let your friend control the turret. As we get further in Early Access development Expedition Mode will also be adapted to multiplayer.

perhapskis can you do an acceleration sound barrier? so it would be using whatever you want (apart from glitches) to get to the sound barrier as fast as possible
I agree
U can do it in sub 1 millisecond with an explosion which he already has done. But I guess u could do it with only things meant for thrust.
@@zaydmerhab6167you cant anymore, the indestructible seat can get destroyed now
@@zaydmerhab6167 Yeah that would be a good idea, but because all seats are now destructible the explosion thing won’t work (im pretty sure, not tested it though)
btw what is the name of the video where he does that?
@@zaydmerhab6167I did a vehicle with one prop of the new update but I did 700 with out anything and 4K with the no drag glitch and my accel was yeetingly fast
From what I remember the reason you couldn't break the sound barrier with them before is because the propeler blades didn't aerodynamically cover what's behind them despite having aerodynamics themselves which resulted in you having to put the wedges in front of every single one of them
he also couldn't connect them with flat connectors due to their big hit box, resulting in the need for an even bigger creation
Perhabskis!
Thanks for saying the word I'm gonna be using for now on😂😂😂😂😂whenever I say perhaps.
love the ralsie pfp
This was a major issue with propellers before they were updated in the Rescue Update, yes. Propellers now correctly block the aerodynamics of the block(s) directly behind them, but were given red aerodynamics to compensate
Day 2: Perhabskis one person builds a plane with propulsion and has to pull a glider up into the air. After detaching in the air the plane with propulsion has to land on the glider. Idealy the glider lands on the aircraft carrier or island...
Please do this, this idea is amazing
15:40 the lateral lines appear to move faster over time because you're approaching them faster. you are pointed at them very slightly, so as you speed up you'll also cross them faster
i was pretty convinced there was some turn happening there too until i figured it out. its a compelling illusion
unless theres some strafing involved.
good observation, captain obvious
¨PerhapSkis¨ as a merch?
Perhapskis
It actually isn't a bad idea since ScrapMan loves irl "ski-ing" (is skiing a word? It looks weird.💀)
Printed on the frontskis or the backskis?
@@6Saturn9 it's skiing, yeah. (It totally does look weird tho)
with the i as a ski
I would love nothing more than a constant sonic boom generator challenge. Where logic turns off the power when you hit the sound barrier and turns back on when you are under the sound barrier. Rapid booms 😈
Yes please
would be interesting, though I've found that turning in place (reducing speed massively) didn't ever give me a second boom. does turning off and on power effect that?
I'm not sure how the physics engine handles it, but I've never gotten a 2nd (or more) sonic booms in a single flight.
😂 yes!
@@Gamer12666
_"Single_ Flight"
What do you define a "flight increment" as? Would that suggest you could get 2 sonic booms with 2 flight increments? Do you need to get out of the vehicle to count as a new flight? Does it require you to land? Do you need to be stationary for it to be counted to end one flight and start another? Could you bump the ground and that alone would make it count as a second flight? Figuring out what determines the reset defines how fast we can generate sonic booms. Trigger the boom > trigger the reset > trigger the boom > trigger the reset.
These are the questions we need to be asking. Game mechanics are a science, and thus, we can test for it to break it down and understand it's rules. Once we understand the rules. . . we can figure out ways to break and exploit them. 😈
You see where I am getting at?
Video title: "How quickly can you generate consecutive sonic booms?" This well fits within his formatting. x3
5:57 "That's going to be a short video"
*looks at video length*
Hmmm
this is exactly what i did 😭
the fact that you immediately broke the sound barrier and passed mach 2 on the first try was way funnier than it should have been
no it wasnt
@@scaleycat bro is not "hehehaha" right now
@@vyntage5326 Typical catfight.
I feel like the next major update Flashbulb does, they need to put in effects for breaking Mach 2 and 3. If you're able to break mach 4 and stay on the map long enough for it to happen, cool and an effect should be added for that as well. But only if you're not glitching (aka your creation explodes and your seat yeets off into the horizon at 6 digit speeds.) If you're doing the frictionless glitch, then the sound barrier ought to be raised to compensate for that (like the game detects if more than X number of detatchable blocks have been activated and it just bumps up mach 1 around what would be mach 2.3 or something.) It's a clever trick and it can make for some cool designs, but at some point, it feels like less of a glitch and more like a crutch.
@@steeljawX The effect that happens when you cross the sound barrier is modeled (very roughly) on the formation of condensation cones that occur in real life when an object travels through the transonic regime. The effect goes away at higher speeds because that's what happens in real life. There aren't additional effects at higher Mach numbers, just gradual changes to the angle of the shock fronts, which are far too complicated to be modeled in Trailmakers to begin with.
Perhapskis you could do water engines until sonicboom
Yea, and he never used the newish outboard engines
Underwaterprops need like 20 so easy...
The outboard props about 10

@@Gamer12666 and perhapskies another benefit of commenting is to be able to possibly make use of "perhapskies".
Scrapman, you should use *spoilers* as building blocks whenever you can, it is the lightest block in the game, weighing only 0.1 kg (the same as a 1x2 flat connector) and as long as it is *not perpendicular* to the direction of movement it will not have any aerodynamic effects such as lift or downforce.
downforce tho
the spoiler does have aerodynamic drag tho
@@DeathDoesThings did you not read what i typed?
@@maartenbeute6742 well, yeah, i meant more in the "no weird aerodynamic lift/downforce" sense.
@@mrnaris4852 oh
You should bring Buster the dummy back
We miss him
yeah

Perhapskis he will soon!
The small "plane" at the end makes me want to see a small vs big competition where each player builds 2 creations, 1 limited to like 15 blocks, the other minimum 150 blocks.
Competitions could be the races or just a version of the everyone vs OP vehicle concept where everyone brings their own OP vehicle.
I CONCUR
PERHAPSKIS
i thought it was a commonly known thing that the small propeller was the single most powerful block in the game excluding any glitch related things
I don't like propellers in this game, I understand it's just a game and not a simulator but the level of realism for this piece is abysmal. You shouldn't be able to double your speed always by adding more propellers, just like you shouldn't be able to break the sound barrier by adding a lot of sails on a boat. A propeller is pushing the air at a certain speed and this speed is your speed limit no matter how many propellers you can add to your plane. In real life I think the fastest propeller plane was the Spitfire at mach 1.0 and propellers had a bad habit of exploding when they reached the sound barrier... lol
I get that. I wish there was something engine related either building your own engine or propellers using the engine-power your vehicle has to provide thrust.
btw. I think only some super-props ever reached supersonic speeds like the XF series and as far as i know the spitfire only nearly reached such speeds during a dive
@@normalbird8040
Yes I'm also pretty sure they got to that speed by diving.
I did some googling and I ended up on the XF series, especially the XF-88. Very interesting looking!
nobody asked
@@Alfred-Neuman wait, can you break the sound barrier in trailmakers with a sail powered craft? because that's so ridiculous that it wraps back around to being cool if it works lol
you need to remake that original attempt and see how it behaves differently now because there's no way that couldn't break the sound barrier if you can do it now with 3
2🤓
The problem with his first attempt is that he tried to add aerodynamics for every single propeller (for some reason) which caused him to be SUPER heavy. That’s why it didn’t work.
@@ThePhonaxwe'll never know until we try
he could just go back and find the blueprint to see if it's changed.
@@daniel_77. Just did and it was infact the weight that caused it to be slower
Can you do a sonic boom challenge with Guns, Perhapskis with minigun
oh my that was 2 years ago??
it felt like a month ago when he uploaded the original.
I feel old
Parhapskies you could try to do a test to see if the wedge is truly the superior form of block? Build a test vehicle with 1 of each type of engine on it (wheel, propeller, rocket) and then cover the front with aerodynamic blocks and see how fast it goes with that specific block.
just try every block to see what is the most efficient
I am now adding "Perhapskiis" to my punny vocab along with an accidental "Apologice" the other day
so what you should have learned now, is that if you want a vehicle in a build-off to be fast, you just need to add secret propellers into it, because they're fast as fuq boiiii
The hit box definitely helped you, as it looked like 5x2 and the seat you're using is 3x2
Anyone wish they could just yell at ScrapMan in real time when he misses something obvious to the rest of us? Just, mid-recording, *hears random voice shout* “YOU HAVE AN EXTRA BLOCK!!!”
yes. If he livestreamed these to get live feedback, he'd be able to optimize so much better.
(in the distance, someone using tts): *Scrap Man! Get rid of those top grid blocks and shift the top two wedges back so you have less weight!*
no
perhapskis you could do a braking the sound barrier video using other components not usually used for propulsion. like spinning servos and hover pads
That's what _I_ said!
The reason the lines seemed to be crossing the screen at a faster rate was because, they are. You were accelerating, the lines would actually be going by faster as you get to higher speeds
sometimes you just need to accept what you've brought to the table and recognise how valuable it is. Honestly... perhapskis the world might be a better place because of a word like that
the fact you still make videos after this long is amazing, this man was my past and now is my present and most likely will be my future
Challenge idea, who can make the best police car for a game of cops and robbers, one person drives a police car who rams into the bandits, the cop is slightly faster and has infinite respawns, and everyone else drives bandit cars with a couple of minutes for a head start and only one life, the amount of time for the head start and whether or not the bandits create their own car, and the limitations regarding size and power cords, is all up to you, the officer that gets all bandit players in the least amount of time wins.
Interesting video as always! Props to the editor also!
I love how the creation went full circle, from air vehicle 2 years ago, to ground vehicle with modern knowledge, back to air vehicle again
mm idea
perhapskis you guys can do the RPG Olympics?
do a deliver/fetch quest - take an object to a designated point and swap it out and bring the second object back.
do a kill quest - kill X bots the fastest. include multiple smaller types and have a farmbot boss
tower climb quest - a parkour tower
Epic journey - a race up a mountain with bots and obstacles.
time trial on all
Bring back the bayblades in trailmakers please please please
Okay, not only did you break the sound barrier, but you discovered how to implement comedy into breaking the sound barrier? Well done. I am going to use that one sometime. Wish you luck on getting everything else to break the sound barrier. Remember, you can go back and look at suggestions and try again.
OG MINI THRUSTER!
Maybe you can use stuff like baloons or gimbal thrusters to counterract your weight so that you do not need to fly at an angle and therefore you have less drag
Ive been waiting so long for this video
thanks scrapman your where like my father growing up i used to watch you play scrap mechanic when i was 5 years old thank you
Would be really cool to do dog fights in this.
The tiny dual prop you had at the end.
Wow, never expected to see this channel in my recommendations again
I have been watch your video for two years to me this is basically a anniversary video
12:33 at this moment scrapman in game character seems so calm and going at a speed that is blowing at his face . If it were to happen in real life you would not be so comfortable being nearly at mark 1.
16:44 also his character would be like yes Iam holding on now do it fast it is becoming more and more difficult.
Scrapman: "Think this'll be enough?" 🤔
Also Scrapman: :pulling a casual Mach 2.5: 😐
Perhapskis is going into my daily vocabulary now. Thanks Scrapman
to do it on land you need to have 6 of those wedge pieces in the front (nothing else), behind the seat you need to put 2 propellers connected with flat connectors and behind them the skis, but only attach them with another 2 flat connectors, now if you add any more pieces it won't work, i think it's the only design that can do sound speed on land with just 2 propellers
You weren't curving, because you are accelerating and you're direction isn't perfectly aligned with the grid you are accelerating both in the X and Y axis of the grid, but you're vehicle is still going straight.
For trailing end, it does matter in the air, but it's a very slight effect, so the extra weight added by the wedges is usually not worth the ever so slightly better aerodynamics.
10:12 Your editor defiantly knows math!
This video is so great, perhaps really great !
I believe the large difference is due to the fact that blocks placed behind but not connected to the propeller it would have its own arrow dynamics arrows
I really want to see this creation in one of the trailmakers plain challenges. There should be a supersonic plane challenge I think it would be interesting.
Will Moonbo be there for next week's Multiplayer Monday? "Perhapskis!"
4:32....WOW.....whelp video over LOL
Great editing
You should do a stationary rotation sound barrier video using gyros and servos only
I wonder if you could have made the 2-propeller stage more stable by having the propellors face opposite directions, and thus counter each other's roll? One of the reason I generally avoid those propellors is the slight tendency to roll left.
I feel like the gyros only hurt the build by hiding the design flaws. It is probably best to try solve the inherent problems by testing the different parts by adding and removing them.
i feel like you can switch the position of the 2nd propeller to vertically align with the first propeller using connectors, removing an element of friction
Scrapman accident make a new trending word. Thanks I am definitely using that 😂😂
Fun fact: the Piaggio P.180 Avanti is the fastest twin prop plane with a confirmed top speed of 927.4 km/h.
Seems like trailmakers is somewhat realistic in a way
Video idea: You and 1 or 2 friends make a plane that can perform the cobra manoeuvre and fight with it. (You can add block limits or add challenges)
16:00 Perhapskis the problem is the top 4x1 wedges... if they are turned to push air up instead of to the sides, that gives downforce, which might eliminate that vibration. Worth a try?
I'm hype for the Perhapskis merch!
The rounded 1x2's actually have the same aerodynamics as a 4x1 wedge and are smaller. May also weigh less iirc but of course i cant remember without having the game open as a guide since i dont do speed and weight optimization in trailmakers too often.
Do a challenge where one person builds a large, hollow creation and the other builds a smaller one. One catches up to the other and repairs into the larger vehicle.
I perfectly guessed two from the very start. When you said 50 I was shook and almost changed my guess. Then you did the initial test and I decided to stick with it.
You can go mock 1 with 1 propaler in the high sea's map
Cant believe that vid was 2 years ago. been watching for a while
good stuff scrapskis
Hey Scrap, I really like your videos! I already asked this but I would love a video where you make a plane using only miniguns as trust.(I also think others would enjoy)
10:20 SM not using flat connector is killing me
1. "I want to hover just above the ground." Have you heard of the ground effect? (distortion of air below hovering vehicle increases lift)
2. I wonder if any past vehicles would be better in the air?
There is no such thing as the ground effect in Trailmakers, unfortunately
Hey, scrapman. Can you try and break the sound barrier in trailmakers with an ornithopter?
PerhapSkis you could do some sound barrier tests up or down?
also, why do you use a compass and gryo instead of a gyro stabilizer? (the reason the lines seemed to be going faster was because you were going faster in general, so your velocity relative to both sets of lines was increasing)
also also, are you gonna do air supersonic tests for other engines like the dragon and space thruster?
idea, breaking the sound barrier underwater? im curious to see if its possible and if it still produces a boom (Even tho it shouldnt)
The fact you can get that much speed from 2 props is crazy
Perhapskis that “Am I turning” was too strong 😂
Try the large propellers next!!
Scrapman! You should try to break the sound barrier by rolling , like a giant wheel to break the sound barrier
Reason it feels like you start moving faster sideways is because you don't account that your forward motion was increasing, to make it seem like you're moving faster sideways proportional to the speed you move forward.
One of funniest things I’ve seen on the Scrapman’s channel was the sight of kAN in his seat flying off into the distance breaking the sound barrier in the process.🤪
Edit: Perhapskis? It must be Italian.🤪
If possible, counter rotate one and should help with the wobbles
Hey scrapman what happened with the sky island survival? Please bring it back😢
maybe try to make 1 vehicle to break sound barrier in land, air and water (if it can be done in water).
you can use different maps to test but all the same creation.
Petition to make Perhapskis an inside joke.
Some recent update messed with physics again and like 80% of my vehicles no longer work as intended, you can probably start over the whole "break sound barrier with x" series 🤷♂
Flipping the second propeller might help. Like the helicopter blades it might have right vs left lift bias
Aerodynamics are great, they work even better when shaped in the directions you want for air flow, shape your curves , sidewise acts like tailfins a bit, oriented properly they can give lift or drag like a spoiler to a lesser degree, these properties of the Aero blocks become more pronounced the faster you go, and at high speeds your trailing Aerodynamics absolutely matter in air
perhapskis you could make a plane that flies at mach 1 in a normal map and maybe for a dogfight in multiplayer
I'd love to see supersonic combat vehicles, that is they must include at least one working weapon in the forward direction.
Do hover pads produce friction and if they don't can they technically be better skis since you just hover and you only have the air resistance that you have to worry about?
I'm realizing that I've been around for almost two years now and I watched the first videos scrap man made I've been around since he started the normal campaign
Perhapskis you and your broskis could do a competition to see who can break the sound barrier in the least amount of time
5:40 "This is not taking advantage of the new hitbox"
the flat connectors still clip through what would have been the old hitbox, no?
10:55 don’t know if he fixes this later, but stack the propellers. You get less friction, and less weight cause no flat connectors
18:40 in sad cause my guess of 3 was wrong
Fun fact: Did you know some propellers can actually be tipped with a special material that allows them to sing!
could you integrate the flying with the gyro with the diffrent types of thrusters.
Robot fights, everyone builds a robot that drives and fires weapons on its own, set them loose and let them fight each other to see whose is best
Hey scrap,
I think as a new idea, you should do a high-speed challenge for every type of engine & etc
To see how fats you can go,
And maybe trying to imrove acceleration as a side challenge.
11 was the first number came into my mind. And Perhapskis, is this a new dog breed? Like Huski(e)s?🤣🤣🤣
"Perhapskis" sounds like something Dahmer would probably say lol
