Even seasoned weight lifting guys can do 100 easy, but no one can do it repeatedly for 4 hours straight . Yr whole body give out. Marathon is nothing ppl can do by “strong will” , its like all the fake liers on UA-cam . They start a Chanel to get viewers n they have to finish…for whatever challenge . They make money over UA-cam views.

She’s a “regular person” compared to an elite marathon runner. She’s not going to break any records, she’s just trying to finish the race. It’s not safe to do a marathon unless you have put in significant training. A “regular” person who doesn’t workout wouldn’t be able to finish this race and would put the person in physical danger. So in the sense that she’s just challenging herself and not winning any awards, she is “regular.”

    • @joshjoyce795

actually, I have an extremely unathletic friend (didnt work out at all) who ran a marathon with basically no training at all. Like, he ran twice In the months leading up to it I think. It was on a dare essentially, because he was talking about how "anybody can run a marathon" , and so we told him he couldnt, and then he proved us all wrong. He actually finished around 10 min pace average as well. We can do WAY more than we think were capable of. When our bodies are telling us to stop, were usually only about 40% spent. I'm a marathon runner, and I train a ton to be able to run marathons at the pace id like to run them at, but id say just crossing the finish line of a marathon in less than 5 and1/2 or 6 hours is a pretty realistic goal for alot of people even if they arent all that athletic/ dont train often.

Everyone is upset she has been called a ‘regular person’ and trained longer than the thirty days. As a runner, a 17 year old marathon runner, I just want to say I don’t care who she is or how long she trained for. She. Ran. A. Marathon. Also, I run almost everyday but I don’t marathon train everyday. She probably did ‘marathon train’ in the final month. I marathon train like 60 days prior

NO one can do it. I wish, cuz i was trying to do that. I hear ppl do marathon all the time growing up. N till i started training myself, i understand how “its not possible just i want to set goal for myself” Muscles are not meant to do that much workout for that long. It takes Minimal 6-8 months to slowly build muscles. U need 5 days a week Consistant training, takes 30 days just to build up to run 5km a day, not 44km. (Ps muscles break apart when u train daily. It can only grow little bit daily like 10% of the previous day) .

Let's not forget, NYC marathon has pacing cut offs. So they probably needed to pick someone who might finish.
A normal person is more likely to finish a trail marathon that has a more generous time cut off. I am turtle pace for trails and the race organizers gave us 13 hours at most (over night race in the desert). Started at 7:30pm and took like 10:30 hours for my 50k. Marathon cut offs for street ones on pavement are usually 6 hours, 7 at the latest.

I have an extremely unathletic friend (didnt work out at all) who ran a marathon with basically no training at all.

When she mentioned that she didn’t have to finish the marathon in a crazy time of 4 or 4:30, that wasn’t crazy. For my first marathon (Philadelphia), my goal was to qualify for Boston (in 2009, the open time was 3:10:59). I was able to finish in 3:13:08, and I thought that was certifiably insane since I didn’t start back running until January of that year, didn’t run my first race until April, and my first half marathon until October. That was crazy, and almost pulled it off. I eventually qualified less than a year later in Scranton (Steamtown).

I am a regular person and last year I signed up for a marathon and didn’t really do any training all bad and I was not on the best health and physical too
So I finished but it took me a long time I think about 10/12 hours:( the only thing that made me happy was that I got the metal because when I started the race I knew it, it was over for me my legs started hurting at the beginning and I couldn’t even walk but I wanted to finish so I keep on going and I was walking with some strangers we were motivating each other……
Now to this year I did it again:( I signed up for this year and I am really scared that I am not going to finish at a reasonable time and with out my legs hurting.
As when I run they hurt every time the pain is unbelievable it really scared me that there is a possibility that I will not finish:(
