In Belgium unemployment is unlimited-it's until you can find a job. But there are parties that now want to limit that.

I just don't understand how are is of our system is so cruel..... For paternity leave in other countries people both wife and husband get about a year off.... We get what 6 weeks.... We get worked to the bone for less money less insurance Less everything and we pay into the government a third of our entire checks and we can get kicked out on the street With no back up. I'm 61 I've been with my company 11 years if I were to lose my job I'm in the unmarketable bracket. Thankfully if I had to I could take my social security early and rent a room somewhere.

It’s better than it used it be. My husband saved his vacation time for when our daughter was born. I had a planned c section on an off Friday. His boss actually demanded that he come in for a meeting that afternoon! He was not allowed to take those two weeks off at all and I was left at home following major surgery with a baby over my lift limit. I was lucky that I did not get fired thanks to FMLA. Of course what they did to my husband was illegal but he was so afraid of losing his job that he didn’t complain. Never forgot as we still work for the same place. They have zero loyalty and that goes both ways.

Je pense que je dois déménager - d'autant plus que je parle déjà français.
