There should be way more likes on this video. I am not hating on anyone, but this video is much better than Late Model Restoration. I appreciate 🙏 anybody that post good content that can help other people. Thank you sir
I was able to do this relatively easily but the sound it makes is loud and i hear metal on metal on the drivers side.. the passenger side sounds and feels great
Man i appreciate this video so much. I went to put a new handle somebody used a cheap screw and weird fastener on the back so I reused it. Terrible idea it didn't last but 5 minutes and was lose. Bought handle from O'Reilly didn't even come with bolts or rivets. So had to take it back apart and doing rivots now after of course i had to drive and go get the gun.
Shave the molding on the doors and behind the doors. Much cleaner look and cheaper. When I did my 86 this spring the replacement molding wasn’t available so we shaved it. You will still need the transition pieces on the front of the fenders and behind the rear wheels. I can send you some pics of mine if you want. Don’t know if I show it very clearly in any of my videos. If you have original fenders there shouldn’t be any holes to fill behind the molding. On the 92-93 fenders I used there were holes we had to fill. Anyways, love the build.
Thanks man! Send em to my email prisonplanet88@gmail.com. I'd like to see that especially on a 4-eye, the transition. Since the shape is baked in the bumpers, I thought the belt line should match but I'd like to see it. Thanks man! much appreciate.
Ha! Names Mike, Son named Connor, blue 1986 foxbody, dropping my 347 in now so excited, like the channel, small world. Worst is 1/2metric 1/2english lol
Just replaced my original plastic driver's handle on my 1991 GT. This si a one-owner car, so I know it is original. The plastic cover that goes on the base was on the outside of the base, not between the body and handle. Also, the original plastic rod holder fit in from underneath, not from the top, so the rod pressure holds it in place. Other years may be different. The new handle, when installed, sticks out way farther than the original. Don't think I like the way it looks. I got it from either LMR or American Muscle, can't remember.
No, likely the rod fell off, or is binding. there is a rod for the inside handle and the outside handle but if one binds it can be hard or kinda stuck closed. if both handles swing freely the rod to the door latch mechanism likely just fell off.
@@HOUSEOFDULA the one on the outside feels broken but the one inside just feels super hard and won’t open . Hey also maybe u can help me out here with my windshield wipers I went to wash the car and I lifted them to wash the glass but the one on the driver side won’t go back to the glass it kinda stayed like an inches away from the glass . What could that be ? The wiper arm or something worst 😵💫
Hey Mike, the door panels still look good, ive seen where a guy melted vaseline and let it run down the doors & leak out of the drain holes it last for yrs. & your bottom doors don't rust. Also if you put sound deadner on the inside sounds nice & solid. Anyway cool video thanks. 🦊
Good video but you missed a key step that I would recommend. Always use some masking tape around that door handle so you aren't jamming that massive rivet gun into your nice paint. Otherwise you will scratch or chip your paint around that handle. Not sure if that happened here but it certainly looked like it.
The plastic bushings on the handles need to be flipped to the bottom side. I just replaced mine 2 days ago, not a big fan of the handle rest/stop though.
I'll put this here again.. I've got your missing piece for the GT moulding. You might go with the Drake stuff but I'm happy to send you the piece. I'm sorry it has taken so long but life has been a bit of a nightmare lately. Hope all is well man!
Its all good! Man I much much appreciate it. depending on the quality, I'll likely go new, but there is no rush really until I decide to do body and paint.
A bud wouldn't bolts & lock nuts be better just incase you have to take them back off for what ever versus take a drill to the & a rivet gun they just look like the drill would mess up a paint job like you said & it looked like the rivet gun would a handful and bulky
@@HOUSEOFDULA in my experience as long as nothing gets pen off the sock ones last forever. Almost every other Fox body car and I think the two-door tempos had the same door handles. On higher Ender luxury models like the Lincoln Mark 7 they were Chrome, on the sportier models and Mustangs they were usually painted black
Man I needed this. The video from LMR did me no justice lol. Going to get this done today.
Sweet! glad it can help. Protect that paint from the rivit gun slipping!

Comments like this is why I continue to do this. Much appreciate that sir.
Thanks so much for doing this video! I replaced my driver's door handle over the weekend and I knew what to do!
Excellent! Glad it helped.

Help
Mine didn’t open today . From outside or inside
Do I have to replace inside handle too or ?

So what does the vaseline do? Does make the inside slick??

I agree. Never got to it...but Im not sure I like how much they stick out...I bent the "tabs" down a hair too
@@HOUSEOFDULA the tab that holds the rubber piece? Does it seem to lay flatter?
nice , i havent drove my car in the rain for the past 4 years plus it dosent make since to drive a 857hp turbo car in the rain, nice job dula.
No sir, thats a death wish or at least a wish to throw your money away! Appreciate it man!

It is...Definitely protect paint if riviting! Id be scared like crazy to use that tool on fresh paint.
Looking good brother!!!!
Hey dude what’s the name of that blue color on your fox, really nice color
Whomever painted it, it was custom, like a cross between twilight blue and deep impact blue.
Replace your headers leak next ?
Yep. have replacement. Need to it trued and ceramic coated.
79-86 were metal, 87-93 were plastic.
AH HA! Thanks for clarifying. The stock ones feel heavier and beefier too. Explains that. Appreciate it.

I wish I had time to work on my 91GT
Wouldn’t be a foxbody if driver door handle didn’t break, ashtray door wasn’t broken, driver seat didn’t do the gangster lean etc
I love t tops.
Thanks! they are cool, but a bit of a pain with alignment, leaks and wind noise.
I had mine painted body color before I had them installed.
