Bosch Nail Strike Bit: www.boschtools...
Bosch Power Tools has always excelled at being a professional contractors brand. Bosch has a clear goal of creating products for the professional to make jobs easier, more profitable and safer. This new Bosch Nail Strike wood boring bit will be a game changer for anyone in the trades who drills through wood that might have nails embedded in it.
The ability for the bit to go through the nail and also stay working for the duration of the job is important. Through our testing, Bosch created a bit just like they claim. This bit will last through the abuse and keep drilling. Once we got to a point where the bit was not happy going through nails, one could quickly file in a new edge and keep drilling. Something we proved you could not do with a standard spade bit.
Excellent review. Love that u guys push it hard, like in the real world.
Thank you.
Thanks Luke. We do our best to show the limits of tools. Sometimes it can look negative and it is not meant to. Our goal is to inform the purchaser of the ability of the tool in the worst-case scenario.
It looks like a good all around drill bit., but specifically for nail imbedded wood,eh.. it's ok... little bit of hype there....love the channel 👍
Interesting. I wonder if it would have gotten further in the testing if the bit had some time to cool off between the holes. Either way it looks like it shouldn't be to hard to sharpen the cutting edges. I think damage to the auger portion of the bit would be what would lead to needing a replacement.
Maybe, but a rough in electrician is not going to stop and give the bit a break. The screw that sucks it into the wood is incredibly strong and took a lot of abuse and still looked awesome. The edges on the bit could be touched up and it would perform like new.
Actually i alternate bits for this very reason. Im using auger bits and theyre not cheap.
I love Bosch
I’ve heard drywall screws destroy bits. They are hard
They need to have a 7/16 shanks.
Got a 100 year old building been remodeled the umpteenth time. Every hole hits three nails. Any recommendations out there?
Moral of the story... Try not to hit nails no matter what bit cha using lol
Not a bad take away!
You didn't try regular Daredevil bit with the big drill.
We did not because it was already broke with the little drill.
Errr Bosch says to use an IMPACT DRIVER though, not that cordless drill you were using. Using a powerful drill would wear out the bit prematurely i think. The concept here is to drive through steadily but surely.
How many electricians use an impact driver to drill holes? That would take 10 times as long to drill a single hole and you have no clue if you are going to hit a nail in any hole. So this would be a backup bit for when you destroy a normal bit?
WorkshopAddict I’d say maybe use a normal drill with a normal spade, and if encounter a nail then use this with an impact? High torque low speed setting suggests that it’s probably designed to work when a problem is encountered I’d think.
Maybe, but then you broke your main bit and have this for backup. Does not seem efficient.
Irwin for me
Def needed the Milwaukee gen3 hammer drill! Pretty neat drill bit tho. I busted a dewalt right angle attachment by hitting a nail with a Bosch daredevil. I wonder if the attachment could handle this bit 🤔
The Milwaukee would have handled this in high speed, low it would not have even known it was attached. There was significantly less impact with the Nail Strike bit because it cut the nail rather than getting caught on it. I think it would be fin in your DEWALT due to the lighter impact and more cutting.
Need a better drill??
Yeah, our Bosch Compact was not up to a 1" spade bit.
Maybe just in high torque....
Come on guys nobody uses corded tools anymore. I rarely see them on job sites except for the drywall man. He uses it to stir his mud
Your camera is not focused at close up to look at the edge. Looks like from the get go is a no go.
Did you say your using womanized lumber? 5:03
Wolmanized lumber.
You need a pro tool for those I don’t think those bits are made for the average joe drill use a Milwaukee or a dewalt rigid makita
When do those bits hit stores?
Per the link on Bosch's page, it shows a buy it now but that it is not available in any stores. I have to guess they will be out very soon.
not impressed
