Awe Vince,
You jinxed the bit when you "Milwaukeed" it, LMAO!
But seriously,
I like the bit. Mostly because its red, lol.
Let's see a comparison with the Bosch Daredevil! The original "self feeding" bit.
Put the 2 Devils to the test?
GO Vince!
Good video and love the Makita! One remark: call me old fashioned but I prefer a drill driver instead of an impact driver for spade bits.
Yes. I have always used good drills which have plenty of power. Impacts are not necessary and make wayyy too much noise. Years ago before I got into milwaukee I was using porter cable nicad 19.2 drills which were great (before dewalt bought them and cheapened them) and I used my porter drilling joist holes with paddles much faster and easier than fools with dewalt lithium impacts which were making so much noise and took longer. LOL. How pathetic I thought the dewalts were.
Like using a sds drill with a psddle bit lol
Yes actually decided to try these today with my drill driver, always just popped them in the impact......never doing that again. Definitely use drill driver with these, so much faster and essentially silent!!!
Not entirely sure why anyone would use it with an impact, maybe if it's your 1st day on the trade, lol🤣😂
@@ariip what’s your opinion on Dewalt?
Coincidentally, (or not) the Robert Bosch company, parent company of Bosch Tools, also happens to own another company called Diablo.
Yes it's a marketing gimmick, and sorry Vince, you fell for it. It's a set of Bosch daredevil bits rebranded and a nice paint job, so all the guys that love the Diablo stuff (myself included- they make the best sawzall blades, grinder discs, etc) will buy them.
I wouldn't be surprised if the next thing they come out with is all the Diablo blades painted blue and packaged as Bosch.
They actually do sell the standard Freud saw blades in Bosch blue in Europe. I’m not sure about the budget ones (diablo). I don’t know why they won’t do the same thing here. Then again, I don’t know why Bosch tools makes most of it’s US decisions. Something crazy I noticed... most of the “new” Diablo reciprocating saw blades showing up are obviously Scintilla/Bosch painted red....but randomly...the pruning blade isn’t. Head scratch.
yeah I use their sawzall blades and their saw blades for little table saws battery-powered saws they are smooth sharp and wear well.
I as well was sucked in by the red paint I had seen the boss was previously but I could use it so much Diablo but I went for the red ones 👀,
I haven't taken him out of the package yet I got him this week, I guess I'll watch this video and find out how they work 👌😁 .
Go vinman 👍
They are actually different. I'm not sure why they make it that complicated, but I'm thinking that Diablo is speed oriented whereas Bosch may focus more on the cleanliness of the hole. That seems to typically be the way it goes with other products made by both Bosch and Diablo.
@@christianness8983 you're cheesing us dawg
Great to see the Makita tools. Would enjoy seeing more reviews of Makita products.
Only spaddle I'm using is bosch so let's get a head to head please
Bosch and Diablo is the same company.
Would like to see this also
Diablo is a bosch brand lol
Bosch own Diablo :)
@@mirekdudka9071 Bosch bought Freud/ diablo years ago
I just picked up a set of Bosch daredevils for $14 at HD .
I got the same ones the other day too!
Any new tool does a fine job right out of the box. What they need to come up with is a shorter version of these spade bits so that like in so many real life situations they fit in tighter areas. But for $10 you can’t complain too much.
Same here.
kingkuppa100 Bosch makes a shorter set. They look like the diablo. Also I’ve used them for two years on 100+ year old lumber and still going strong. Lots and lots of holes.
Impressive thx for the tip & the demo!
Awesome video but they always are! Must see channel! Ordered them today... can’t wait for them to come in and play! Hope you and the gang have the best week ever!
Thanks Robert, we appreciate all you do!!
Wow something new from diablo. Love Freud. Can’t beat them best on the market only blade I will ever buy. Thanks for posting might need to get these there fine finish blades are the best on the market for all my saws great for crown molding don’t even need to sand. You should be the Freud diablo spokesperson
Overall anything branded diablo seems to be better than most and a decent value for the money. It’s nice to be able to just grab something off the shelf and be pretty confident it will work well and last. I just bought a set of diablos jigsaw blades for 20$ and was blown away at how well they worked. They had a jigsaw blade that came with it that had teeth that changed direction halfway on the length (for clean cutting on both sides of a board). It actually worked better than I thought it would. Anyway, thanks for the good reviews 👍🏻
for rough work rock it and it'll open the hole a teeny bit and come right out no friction they last forever that way too i guess the heat kills the temper. also nails ruin them too i keep a crappy bit for where i KNOW there's hidden nails
Great video brother 👊. I think it's a good kit for 10 bucks. They're basically Daredevil bits painted red so Diablo is counting on their name and color to sell them like you said. Either way good bits. Thanks again for everything you guys do. Keep it up 👍
Vince I don’t think you understand how much you guys influence my tool buying, I bought 2 of your June tool deals from Ohio power tool and I’m prolly gonna buy these too 😂
Good video! I was wondering about these
👍🏻
That is a good looking set of bits. I used an Irwin set until I recently bought a Milwaukee set. The Irwin set is my stay-at-home set now.
Looks decent Vince 👍 I like my Irwin paddle bits. Always had great luck with them 👍👍
I gotta give these a try.
Keep them coming BUT I will stick with my normal spade bits. Thanks
A great video as always. I have the Bosch version
I need a set of these. Thanks for letting us know about them.
VCG. VCG. VCG.
Vince, great videos learning a ton on what’s best to buy for a new homeowners projects! Can you shed some light on the best bit for drilling a 3/4 in hole in a pvc (plastic) electrical box to avoid excess damage to the box?
Drop the bits from 3ft-4ft so the side spurs hit the concrete. If they round over, it's the same Bosch bits. If they don't dent then the heat treatment is better.
Also, the rounding over of the hex shaft may be corrected by a file.
Just bought a 1 1/2 inch for work and it’s awesome. Eats through a 6X4 with ease
Great tip on way watching out on using bits used in drill then in impacts.
I just bought the short stubby Milwaukee locking ¼" extension for my drill for quick-connect ability, but this is another reason for using the adapter in the drill. Just won't be using that adapter in the impact.
Keep on
I love mine had them alittle over a month...I would highly recommend them over all of my other paddle bits and I have all the name brands
Vince, I like the shirt and hat match!! Looks good brother
Thanks Cuz!!
I have this set and I bought it because it’s red no lie and I’ve had it 24 hours and bent the 3/4. I love the 11/16. I use it in my m18 hammer drill (hammer function off) and it bent it early on in the day. Snag at the big box no lie but 3/4 is my favorite size hole and now I’m out of a bit.
The daredevil bits are good enough. $10 a pack aswell.
They look exactly like the Bosch ones in shape and design... You should totally do a side by side comparison between them to see if there's any difference(s)!
And as far as impact drivers go, their rated "no load" speed is their absolute MAX speed in any given setting. When you're actually drilling something though, the RPMs vary greatly (and are MUCH slower than rated), depending on how hard of material, the size of the bit, and whether you're pushing into it or just only letting the bit itself do all of the cutting/drilling work...
With this type of bit they might drill even faster with a drill driver instead of an impact driver, especially if used in high speed, (because again, under load, drills won't be putting out their rated "no load" speed when actually drilling something either, but they might still stay faster than an impact driver does under the same drilling conditions), but that would be if the drill you were using has enough torque delivery to power these bits at a faster actual cutting/drilling RPM than the impact driver does...
A side by side comparison would be necessary again, not only between the different brands, but between both types of drivers; a regular drill and/or an impact type... I forsee a good video about all of this coming up soon!... I know I'm not the only one who really wants to know!
Yes, that is what I thought. I have the bosch and they look just like them. I have diablo circular saw blades and they are great and I think the best, buth for other things, maybe they are just not any better.
i dont mean to be offtopic but does anybody know a way to log back into an instagram account..?
I was dumb lost my password. I would love any tips you can offer me!
@Dillon Gregory Instablaster =)
@Archer Kayson Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process now.
Takes quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Archer Kayson It worked and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my ass!
I never noticed an RPM setting for the Bosch ones but I prefer if I can using them in speed 2 in my drill if it has enough torque
Gonna check them out
I have several Diabalo paddle bits that are my go to for angled starts (45 degrees are no problem), then I’ll finish with their Forster bits for a nice clean shoulder.
I still use the Bosch 18 pack I got a couple years ago for black Friday at HD. These diablo ones looks nice.
Just picked up the Christmas orange box store special 16 piece set for 20 bucks. Been using the ones given by my GC and They are freaking AMAZING!! I however, use it with my drill on setting 1 and it performs flawlessly without any damage to the shaft by the chuck. I
Ok, the Makita slipping in the spaddle in reverse....gotta admit. Wasn’t expecting that at all🤦🏼♂️🤣
This is part of why I dread the day my Kobalt shits out on me. When you don't have an auto chuck you'll never slip out. And who really tried to change bits one handed anyway?
Those are one of the best spade bits I've tried yet 😲
Thanks for the feedback cuz! 👍🏻
daredevils in red? id probably get them but i just got the daredevil kit last month. great video
They do look very similar
So @VCG Construction I think tool companies need to hire you guys to test their collets at this point!😂🤣
I prefer an impact driver when drilling into studs with a spaddle bit. For other things I prefer drilling with the hammer drill. Diablo should make speed demon screw driving bits for impact drivers.
I appreciate your correct terminology “Spaddle Bits”! Thank you!
Hi buddy love your video , what brand is your security glasses.
I got them couple weeks ago. And use them with an impact. Works great. And cheaper than Bosch.
Thanks for the feedback alberto!
I wonder if the impact drills let go of the bits when in reverse?
looks just like my hilti ones. work great
I use paddle bits every day and my impact was notorious for loosing bits or even extensions because they’d fall out after drilling through a top cap on a wall
Still using my Bosch paddle bit set from 2 Christmas ago. Im good but i do love the color. They kinda look the same with a new paint job.
👍🏻 yo Mel!!
Would make for an interesting segment of a TTR, 2 of the same drills or impacts, 1 with Diablo, 1 with Bosch
👍🏻
Just bought these the other day. It was $10 hopefully they work fine.
Hey 0:39 that red paint job goes a long way in my book :D
Diablo cutting discs, bits, and tools are probably the best on the market in my opinion. I do believe Bosch is the same or similar.
Which spade bit would you think is better the diablo ones or the bosch daredevil spade bit
As a construction worker Diablo blades are the way to go.
Speed demon: bungee jump down, Mt Everest up
Curious about why the Diablo failed to stay in the chuck driver. I own the Bosch Daredevil Spaddle bits. Possible you might do a TTR on one vs. the other? 🍻🤙
The m18 gen 3 is notorious for not holding the spaddle bits when pulling out, looked like it was even giving makita a run for their money. Anywho, there's an issue with the collet that our boys in red won't address. Although I heard the surge and the gen 1 don't have those issues with the collet retention. The channel's done a couple of videos on the issue, even tried some fixes.
Ive never seen those bits before ive only seen their carbide hole saws
I just used my diablo spaddle bits same as yours with my Dewalt 20 volt max xr impact wrench and it went threw the 2x4 in less tha 2 seconds no tear out
Yo Vince, thanks for the indirect shout out and mentioning the fit and finish. I mentioned it to ya earlier and you heard me, good lookin out cuz. Now smash the like button!
👍🏻
you should a versus drilling with a drill versus with an impact and see whats faster
Ill check them out be interesting see how they compare to the Bosch ones
Nice review! Question..can you use this bit to make a hole in wood of a certain depth? Say 1/4“ depth hole?
Strange u post this! I just got these for $10!
Cheaper than Bosch set (15 in Canada) also had good experience with 9 inch pruner and 6 1/2 inch circ blades.
I had seen them and was wondering how they did
Ok for rough holes, but what is the best make for Forstner Bits?
Hey Vince, newbie here with Diablo 25mm (1 in) which I really struggled with today. Too much torque for me and I couldn’t control depth as I wanted to only sink about 1.5 inches and almost broke my arm. Is there a technique you need to use? It seems that about 5 revs and I was through 2 inches. Thanks for the vid, great explanations.
Home depot had an 8 piece set for $10 yesterday but I just got the same deal with Bosch a week prior. Theyre almost identical but one is red and the other blue ha.
What would you say is the best style for making holes overall??
I use these types of bits for rough ins all the time but I've mainly run the bosch daredevils since the beginning. I happened to see these and love other diablo accessories saw blades etc and I picked them up. Honestly I was disappointed to read they were made in China i can't remember where the daredevils are made i don't believe China offhand but I could be wrong. That said though right now they are on sale same price or maybe lower than the bosch but if they cost more later on ill probably stick with the tried and true bosch.
They look exactly like the ones from bosch. Bosch ones Diabolo so i would say they are same...
Greetings and stay healthy guys!
Thank you Cedric!!
I just bought these a couple of days ago I myself haven't tried them out yet but I like what I'm seeing as far as making holes.... my question would be what was the problem with the impact drivers holding on to the bit???....You didn't give an explanation on why you thought that was happening....Just curious to know why it was having a problem
By using it on high rpm on a drill, would cause the shaft to damage the collar portion of the bit, hence, if it's transferred to an Impact, the collar on the impact would not hold. If you warch again, he explained immediately after it started happening.
Just picked up a set of these because I couldn't find Irwin's. Do you know if Lowes carries them?
The ryobi brushless impact chuck is good. Better than my makita. Although my makita Is fairly used
Try this side by side with Spyder using the same pressure. See which one is better. To me they have similar attributes with Spyder better on speed.
I was expecting the impact to let go of the bit with Milwaukee because of the known collet problem, but I absolutely flipped my s**t when the Makita let go 😂
God Damn it. That's the whole reason why i got a makita
Nice video. And nice reminder about about there being at least 10 P's in Ppppppppppprecaution.
Has anyone considered a overhead drill rig or upright sud mock up to simulate different drilling angles and attack methods?
Hey Vince, to date I have never had issues with the Collett slipping off when pulling out a spaddle bit not with the Milwaukee fuel impact or any other impact I've used.
I noticed that you usually stop the drill, and then switch to reverse to pull the bit out.
I usually just pull back with it still in forward as soon as I break thru the hole usually without even stopping the drill at all.
Maybe that makes a diff?
When you have a chance, try it my way and please let me know if you think it makes any difference.
(If you think about what your doing, it's only got that little screw on the top, so once you broke thru the hole, it really doesn't accomplish anything to put the drill in reverse, because the screw top is on longer holding anything)
Milwaukee fixed the problem and made a new impact a while ago, maybe you have the new version and vince dosen't?
Might try them if they come in a 16" if not I'll stick with Bosch
Vince, more Makita my dude!!!
6:56 🛑 gang, AND place Your BETS TO SEE IF the bit stays in collet when reversing from hole using the Milwaukee impact; or....slips right out.
What ya say people ✅ or ❌? I’m going with ❌, cuz I have the 2853-20 Milwaukee impact & the diablo spade bits...so I “know” what will happen 😉
Also, I find that even in the Bosch daredevil bits, the paint comes off....same with Irwin Soeedbors & the new diablo speedemon; eventually the nice paint job, wears away from the spaddle (would be amazing if someone figured out how to keep it all there I definitely 😉).
Managed to pick these up over a week ago for $8.90 w/ my 10% coupon.
Always a pleasure watching VCG Videos!
Cheers✌🏼
Are these exactly the same as the Bosch? They look to similar for them not to be made in the same factory.
I know this video was a long time ago but yesterday they are on sale now on Home Depot for $19.99 a $35.99 value And its a 16 piece. you people should check it out I ordered one yesterday went to go pick it up this morning they work great 👍
Wow never seen the makita let go of a bit before 🤔😳 @Vcgconstruction
İf i am not mistaken diablo is sub brand of bosch, so little question why bosch let diablo to sel spadle bit almost like bosch daredevil)
Soooo im not knocking them. Ive used some other spaddle bits. After drilling for a bit. You need to kick it in reverse and expel the wood chips. Then go back forward and repeat. Ive gotten bits stuck from not doing this while drilling through a sleeper for large Air handlibg unit curb to be bolted down through the roof. I own the Milwaukee yes it can slip off. But it has balls lol
Wish i had a home depot close to get those
HD will mail to you for free if you order a few items at one time meeting their minimum order. I love this.
Daniel thank you sir i appreciate it i have a lowes every which way but easy of me within a 25 mile radius
yo...whats up with the Makita slippage? thought the Gen 3 Milwaukee was the only one with that problem?
Review Diablo jigsaw blades 20 blades $20 at Home Depot, first time seeing them
Just my observation Vince they look and perform basically almost the same as the Bosch Daredevil. That was just my observation from the video but please tell me what you think? Because I am considering buying them. And I want to know what your opinion is when it comes to Performance and lower cost. Thank you bro love you guys.
Yes, I have the bosch. As others have said, which I thought, they are just bosch with a paint job.
Sounds like a tool test raw with spaddle bits
Is it just me or are spaddle bit sets being sold more and more without and included holder or organizer? I like my old cloth Milwaukee sheath that folds in half, but it seems like tool companies are making a push for loose bag/pouch style now. What do you think?
All depends on the kits you buy
I’ve always kept my spadle bits in an old SDS bushing or chipping
bit tube - the yellow, plastic top+bottom tubes that thread together
With Diablo having so many financial agreements with the Bosch Corporation and Fein of Germany, I wonder if those are just Bosch with a red paint job. I would like to see the Hilti bits tested, because Hilti is a very independent company and to my knowledge has not copied other competitors.
I’d like to test them as well! 👍🏻
I have been using them the last month drilling holes for electrical through studs, and top plates. single studs does good. anything else double or triple, its difficult.
To reduce tear out run the last bit in reverse
Any comment on the releasing of the boy on both drills?
I know VCG talked about it in the past but I remember which M18 impactl has the bad 1/4 chuck? I got the surge recently and havent had any problems so far
Never had any problems with my surge either!
@@VCGConstruction very good to hear. I love my surge by the way. Awesome tool!
My uncle just put out a new hole saw. You should check it out? It’s the disstan quick core hole saw! It’s pretty sick!
you can use a hex adapter in a drill driver
The Collett will let go on any impact in tough applications
Since Bosch owns Diablo, I'm guessing this is why the Daredevils are on markdown at the HD. I guess Bosch is discontinuing the Daredevil line, perhaps?
The problem is no where does it say you should use an impact drill to use these bits. If you use a standard drill I found it impossible to drill a clean hole.
