    WARNING!!!! I baked this funfetti cake following exactly what she instructs and measuring all the ingredients using her cakeculator. I have mixed feelings, I'm happy because the cake looked and tasted AMAZING but sad because my kids devoured it before I even had the frosting ready!!!! That's how good this recipe is! Baking another one tomorrow and hiding it ASAP 😂. Thank you ♥

      @@abcde7541 Hi Hydeia :) So my templates fit exactly two to a 18x13 pan. That's 234 in^2. Your pan is 162 in^2. To get two layers, by my calculations you will need approximately 1.5x of my recipe to fill two of your pans, then you can cut two letters (one in each pan) to make a two layer cake. You'll have a cake that's slightly thicker, and some leftover cake scraps, which is never a problem in my house. If you bake in grams it should be pretty easy: take one of my recipes for the half sheet pan and multiply all the gram measurements by 1.5. Cut one letter per pan. Hope that helps!

      It lacks egg yolks for coloring reasons. Many recipes do that as well. Also why you need 6 whites vs 3 whole eggs. Does that make sense?

      @Sugarologie  3 роки тому

      I'm always a fan of SMBC - you can make it far in advance and it really smooths so beautifully and takes on color readily. If you don't mind something sweeter, American buttercream is a little faster to make :)

    Adrian, I am making the recipe for the Funfetti Cake and want to do the naked cake with it using 3 - 8" round cake pans as I need a lot of cake. When using adding the milk to the layers will it soak in or do you think I need to slice off a thin layer off the tops of the cakes first?

    • @Sugarologie
      @Sugarologie  Рік тому

      It should soak fine - if you think about the cake like a sponge, and the milk like water, the water should move pretty easily through the top or sides. Sometimes there's a thick sugar layer (crust) that develops on the tops of cakes when baking, and if you want, you can just peel that baked layer off if you want and the milk should soak a little more easily instead of beading off. :) Good luck!

    • @Sugarologie
      @Sugarologie  2 роки тому +1

      Yes you can... just be sure that any time I mention timing in my recipes for mixing, it's with a stand mixer so instead, look the the texture and/or color of your batter and make sure it looks similar to mine before moving on as it may take a little longer to mix. You should be good!

    Another question. I made the strawberry cake but it didn't rise unfortunately. I followed every step but it looks really flat. What do you think I did wrong from your experience?

    • @Sugarologie
      @Sugarologie  3 роки тому +2

      Oh no! It's based off of my butter cake, which rises using baking powder.
      So what happens is in the initial step you cream the fat and sugar for a really long time to create these tiny micro pockets. Then you proceed with the rest, adding the flour containing baking powder towards the end.
      When you put the cake in the oven, the baking powder expands with the micro pockets (along with a bit of hot air).
      So I would check first to make sure you're mixing for long enough during the first step. I would then check to make sure your baking powder is not expired and fresh. And last, I would make sure that you're mixing the dry ingredients throughout the whole batter to evenly distribute the baking powder.
      I hope that helps.

    Can I use almond milk for recipes that call for whole milk?

    • @Sugarologie
      @Sugarologie  3 роки тому

      I've never tried almond milk, but it may work. The main purpose of milk in my recipe is to provide liquid, since the fats are coming mostly from oil, butter, and a little from the egg yolk. If you try do let me know, I love almond milk!
