I dodged the draft by joining the Navy. That was the best move I ever did in my entire existence.
First, when was that? Second, enlisting is not draft dodging, but as they say, going from the frying pan into the fire.
@@janefelix3821 it was a joke lol
@@Charles-pf7zy Actually during the Vietnam Conflict men attempted to enlist in the Navy to avoid the draft since the Navy was considered safe and once in the Navy you could not be sent into the Army. Keep in mind there was a draft then, so if they needed more foot soldiers, they simply increased their draft quotas. Since there is no draft nowadays, they use any enlistee, Navy, Air Force, National Guards, for combat foot soldiers.

Most of what he said is based on the draft of 50+ years ago. First the Government ended the college deferment in 1967. Then the military accepted openly gay soldiers, circa 2011. Then religious exemptions were deemed discriminatory in the 1970 Supreme Court ruling, Ali vs. The United States. However, there is no draft, ended 1973, so first the laws have to be written and then challenged in Court, so how can one predict the future?

Nagito komeda
Enlist in Air Force or Navy, both are safe branches compared to Marines and Army who do the fighting.
If they let you enlist. During Vietnam those branches were hard to get into.
Don't join the Navy as a medic/corpsman, unless you like Marines.
Better...become a railway guy!
fun fact, there has not been an enforcement of evasion of signing up for the draft program since the 1980s and thousands of people have just decided to not sign up for it, facing no punishment.
The issue here is how to avoid conscription, not giving your name to a Federal Agency (Selective Service). Whether or not a person registers is moot as the government has everyone's name in the system today as data mining techniques are vastly different today than they were 50+ years ago when there was a draft.
The easiest method of avoiding conscription is simply to go to a psychiatrist and say you have anxiety about serving and then have him/her prescribe an anti-depressant. Being on a prescription medication for any disorder is an automatic disqualification from serving in the military.
Lol no it's not anymore old a$$

Just refuse to do any training, sleep in, & do whatever you want & don't disrespect higher ranks but treat them like a regular stranger you don't want to be around.
I'll do as I do, & if they want to send me to war then I'll fight how I want to fight. Fuck I hate marching in cadence, I'm not trying to impress anyone but women in real life, so I'll just walk normally.
Like being in good shape is important so obviously don't purposely be lazy, & if your forced to be there respect certain things lile weapon safty. But if they force you to go through training, don't put up with their shit. It's all a mental game, they can only yell at you so much. Once that stops they will just leave you alone & let you do your thing so long as you don't interfere with other people.
A lot of people were shy about quitting on basic, but I was fully open with it. Everyone knew I was quitting, & I purposely destigmatize it to make it seem like less of a bad thing & overall people were pretty chill. Some said "Come on, don't quit" but very quickly others came to me & told me they were thinking of quitting as well. Sadly we couldn't just leave, it was an approval process so for a week I made the topic of quitting fully open & public. That week alone almost half my class decided to quit basic & drop the army (I'm not American & we can quit).
From the start I purposely decided to approach it like that, obviously I said stuff like "do what you think is best, if it's not for you dont stay in it" but in my head it was my goal to cause as many people to quit as possible & I surpassed me expectations.
The only reason I made that my goal is because they forced me to stay for a week because of protocol so I wanted to cause as much damage as possible before leaving the army if they were going to force me to stay.
Yeah it's a volunteer force, so it's my fault for joining but once you know I'm quitting no need go drag it out. A few of them said "your not out yet" & shit like that so yeah if I'm not out then I'll f*** you guys over as hard as I can while you keep me there.
Why go through all that trouble. Just tell the recruiter you have a disability and need special accommodations (ADA) or refuse to sign and put down on the enlistment papers that you are being coerced. Just putting that down on the paper automatically disqualifies you.
You sir, are incredibly based.
I haven't unlocked the respawn power up so this works
fuck it's depresseing as fuck how relevent this video may become in a few days, my god have mercy on all of us in these dark times...
The USA won't impose a draft to fight Russia, First it would take forever to get one going, and then keep in mind the election coming up next November. Unless it gets broad support from both Parties (fat chance) the Party suggesting it would be toast in the election, most likely the Democratic Party, as even if all Republicans support it, it can't pass either Chamber without Democratic Support (needs 60 in the Senate) and then of course President Biden has to agree to it. So if Biden signs off on it, they will lose around 75 in the House and 12 in the Senate. Then of course the litigation and the lack of support, thus many will refuse and get a way with it, would kill it.

My dad could have dodged the draft in 1965 because he was in college, and was the sole provider for his single mother and younger brother. His father even offered to send him to Canada to live with family friends. My dad, being a first generation US citizen and very patriotic, decided to go into the Army because he felt it was the "right thing to do". Four months before his service was up, he was sent to Vietnam. His younger brother on the other hand, purposely broke his leg in order to avoid being sent to Vietnam. This was always an issue between my dad and my uncle for many years. 😔
Hmmm, this is very useful, thank you
You are thinking to hard into this. Just don't register for the selective service . As long as you don't apply for a Federal government job or get any student loans you are good. You will never get drafted.
If you have a state id or an SSN you probably are automatically registered. Plus in a real draft, everyone's name is known to the system.
@@janefelix3821 There is no automatic registration for the draft at the Federal level. Show me the law. And if there was, why would they threaten fines and prison for not registering. You are just assuming there is, when there isn't.
Some States, like Texas, do automatically register for the draft when applying for a driver's license. But not all States do, like New Mexico. New Mexico doesn't require a SSN to get a DL. Just go to New Mexico and get a DL. You don't know what you are talking about!
@@janefelix3821 That's another lie. Show me a law that requires someone to have a SSN? There isn't one. America is 100% voluntary. Sorry Communist! You lose!
@@janefelix3821 The IRS can't even process Tax Return on time or answer Tax payers phone calls. And you believe there's a central database with everyone's DNA in it? Damn you are naive! Keep believe the Marxist Mainstream Mass Media, and keep all your money in the Bank, and keep paying Income Taxes. Tax Slave! 👌😆🇺🇸✝️🤣👏
@@respectamerica2382 While registration was reinstituted in 1980, it was based on the laws first passed in 1917. At that time there were no computer systems in the country so men registered at local draft offices, which kept paper files. Thus if the draft office didn't have someone's name, chances are they were not known to the system. There was also no method of cross-referencing names between selective service and other services such as DMV or voter registration. Thus the a need for everyone to register to be in the draft.
While some states do not register automatically when applying for a state id (which includes driver's licenses), all states comply with the Federal Real ID Act of 2005, which requires the state to report everyone's information who is issued an ID to the Department of Homeland Security, which maintains a DB of all those issued a state id, this started in 2009. Today's computer systems can easily handle this DB which has approximately 250 million names and with the Patriot Acts, Selective Service has access to that DB. Plus an SSN is required to be issued a Real ID, which is required to board airplanes, and open bank accounts.
Again, the law has not been modified since 1980, but with modern technology (computers and relation DBs), laws such as the Patriot Acts and The Real ID Act, there really is no reason to force registration as the Government can simply data mine the names. That is why the DOJ dropped all prosecutions back in 1986 as there is no need to prosecute anyone since if they know you exist, they can simply put your name in the system.
While there is no specific laws on auto-registration, The Real ID Act and Patriot Actsgives Selective Service the ability to pull names off of the Nationalized DMV DB.

Easy...go see your doctor or go to a free clinic. Upon the visits, continue to add long term symptoms to your medical history, like mental disorders, respiratory complications, deliberately fail your eye test, etc. With all of those things, you'd be more of a liability to the military. If that doesn't work, self inflicted wounds of "non-long term" damage should do the trick. If you're disabled or impaired, how can you enter combat? A person's life is much more valuable than the value of valor or patriotism.

What would happen if they legit just cant get a hold of you. Like I'm living off the grid right now in an temp car I bought traveling North America, no registered address aside from my old apartment in Australia which I haven't lived in for a year. My passport is good for another 2 so I'm going to take a ship to Vietnam once this Covid thing lifts in a bit.
But how does that work if you just dont have an address or way for the government to contact you. Like I've done a few short term 1 month rentals but that's not legit, thats like a long hotel visit. So if the government just cant contact you, is it illegal. Like I can live however I want, as long as it's not too illegal to get interpol on my ass.
I mean... now they have your email and they know your name, and they know your in a car that you bought (so they could possibly get your license plate by looking at your records) now you have a warrant.

Why?
Fake being manic being bit crazy
for the conscientious objector status, what if you aren't religious like at all? are there secular paths to getting that status?
There is no conscientious status anymore, was eliminated over 40 years ago. FYI, in June 1971 the Supreme Court ruled it in violation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act when issuing the Ali vs. The United States decision thus negating the draft law. So the entire law has to be rewritten before a draft can come back.
@@janefelix3821 i read there is conscientious objection but you would still have to register but would be given a position that isn't combat??? im trying to understand everything b/c i have a son :( i've just learned about all this!!
@@beatcat1265 The Selective Service laws have not been updated in over 50 years. After the Ali decision was announced, in June 1971, the Government essentially allowed men to carte blanche claim CO status just to run out the clock on the draft, scheduled to end by June 1973. By that point (Fall 1971) the USA had committed to a total withdrawal from SE Asia, thus negating the need for a draft. While there may be laws on the books on CO status, given that the military won't honor them, as they dropped that status circa 1975, it is moot. Any person enlisting is subject to front-line deployments as deemed necessary, with no exceptions except for medical units and/or clergy units. Everyone else can be sent to infantry. Registration is meaningless as within a few months of turning 18 SSS pulls names, if your son has an SSN or State ID he will be automatically added.
@@janefelix3821 so there is no way out? except prison? im still so confused. why is there information about objecting online? im sorry i probably sound stupid i really just do not understand any of this. i had someone telling me you can object to taking a life. what should he do to not be front line?
@@beatcat1265 Any laws relating to CO status were pre-1973, the year the draft ended. While they may still be on the books, since the draft ended nearly 50 years ago, chances are those laws won't work out today. While the draft ended nearly 50 years ago, the military had gone through major overhauls so chances are the conscription laws from back then, are not in synch with the military. As I mentioned the military dropped the CO status circa 1975 so even if selective service gives a person that status, the military won't accept it. Also the government made major changes to disability and contract laws since 1973 so chances are the draft won't work to begin with. If a person claims to be a CO, then that person is ineligible to enlist so the military won't take them, end of story as they are sent home.
The major issue is that there are about 130 million who can enlist in the military today, so with mass armies a thing of the past, either enough volunteer from that pool, maybe 4% or the draft would fail due to lack of interest. Keep in mind during WW2 the enlistment pool was around 32 million and during Vietnam around 37 million.
Are drafts for Army only or Air force , Marines, navy also?
Army=Armed Forces in this context but the probability is lower than for Army (Land Forces) itself, especially for Air force (I doubt that a simple draftee could be enlisted as a pilot, moreover of contemporary jets like F-22 or F-35, the other thing is the technical support or guarding).
Probably for Army, maybe Marines. The others are full of those avoiding the former.
Fleeing to Canada might not work. We could have the draft too.

Chances are if you have either a State ID (DMV) or an SSN you were added, as were your friends. Thus you are in their DB, just you don't know about it.
@@janefelix3821 Thats not how it works in my state. They sent a letter out for us to sign. They had a system like that but people made a big deal out of it saying they had the right to choose.
@@sodalines Starting in 1986 a number of states did what you said with their DMVs when issuing IDs/Licenses. However, in 2005 Congress and President Bush signed into law the Real ID Act of 2005 where all States, in order to be compliant, have to send the Federal Government on a periodic basis the information on all persons issued a State ID/License. From that list the DHS created a DB with approximately 250 million names. Since DHS is Federal and so is Selective Service (SSS), SSS queries the DHS periodically for new records, via the Patriot Acts. While States still make you sign the letter you describe, the information they send to DHS is done automatically as it is a Federal Requirement. Even if you opt out via the letter you mention, the list to DHS is done anyway as that is mandatory and you agree to it if you want a Real ID, otherwise you get a Standard ID which is not valid to board planes, open bank accounts, conduct brokerage/stock transactions, enter a Federal Building.
