Wow!! I bought three wide ribbons last year post season and had no idea that I could use them for garland! I learned a great lesson. Thank you so much Kevin
Thank you for sharing your design! I get tired of the usual cookie-cutter decor ideas. This could be adapted to any color scheme, and it's the right amount of whimsy! Love it!
That made it look so easy!! I have a pre-lit strand of bland garland that I'm going to transform to decorate my new apartment. I'm moving in about two weeks so I found this video at the perfect time!! Thank you!! 🎄
Kevin, I still have mine that you did a couple of years ago and a lot of it! Yet I continue to be compliments on them and ty so very much and have a very merry Christmas this year!
Thank you so much for your interest and compliments. The glue that I use is the strongest mix I can find commercially but you may also use glue sticks. I think the hot melt holds much better than the low temp. The skillet is safer and easier to use than the gun…less chance of burning fingers. I set my skillet at 250 degrees. The surface of the glue should retain some cloudy spots. If it goes completely clear, it is too hot and will burn you and run too easily. Thanks! Kevin L
10 years later and I can’t find any beautiful, colorful ribbons as I see here. I plan to make a large garland to look just as beautiful as this one. Wish me luck on finding the ribbons.
He is a great narrator as well as a treat teacher! I know what I'm going to be doing tonight! I thank you and that my Lord that you popped up as a suggested video for me as now i'm subscribed with alert set not to miss any thing from y'all! Merry, Merry Christmas to you all...
9 years later of posting an in November 2019 the best video I have found today on how to and explain clearly and easily how to dress a garland. so much live and respect for your profession. So lovely to watch and the outcome is spectacular. Thank you for sharing. Now I know with confidence how to dress my mantle. Thank you so much.
Melissa, I use hot melt glue. It comes in pillow or pellet form. You can find it in the floral or craft supply department in 1 pound bags. If you can't find that you may use hot melt glue sticks just not low temp as it doesn't hold well enough. I have my glue skillet set at 250 degrees but each one varies. The surface should retain some cloudy spots. If all clear the glue is too hot and will drip easily and increase potential for burning. Thanks and Happy Holidays! Kevin Trees n Trends
Excellent tutorial and thank you Kevin for sharing your expertise. Also appreciate your comment below re construction of a tear drop arrangement using garland. (Four feet of end and folding back twelve inches to give more form/thickness to its top.)
Thanks Kevin for sharing your wonderful techniques that i been wanting to learn for a long time now ;) but somehow it would be difficult to find the nice ornaments you are using over in Asia's country.. Anyway... really love.. love.. love the idea & your video... :) Thanks a lot!
Hi Kevin~ Love your work! I made 2 garlands for my front porch & they came out beautiful! Since Christmas is over & we're all looking forward to Spring, could you show us some Spring projects? Thanks so much. Keep Sharing!!
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your videos. So much information and so clear and concise. I will definitely be visiting your Hattiesburg location and telling my friends about your stores and UA-cam channel. Thank you for sharing!
About 15 years ago I wanted a wide ribbon, so I bought yards of meshing, cut into the widths I wanted and patiently hot glued wire to hem the widths ,Then I spray painted the mesh to the colour I wanted. If only this deco mesh had been available!
Great demonstration Kevin! My deco mesh got crushed/wrinkled in storage and I was wondering if there is anyway to restore it? I got the color a great distance from home and was hoping to salvage what I had rather than make that long trip!
I would tie the three 9’ garlands end to end and cut off the extra 4’ that you end up with. If you overlap anything it will always show as a thick area so I would never do that. The 4’ length that you have extra can be made into a matching teardrop by folding over the first 12 inches and tying together to give the upper end the desired thickness for the top of the teardrop. The teardrop can then be decorated and utilized on the door itself or on a lamp post.
I never get tired of these videos. I'm excited about decorating already. Kevin, you are such a talented blessing!
I know its 10 years ago but this can be applied with ANY color scheme and be perfect! Timeless!
