I was in Tennessee injury I got to visit Jennifer 's store believe me it is so amazing! And she is so nice.i wish I could see it at christmas. ❤ it was so worth visiting.
Jennifer I have a Christmas tree decor idea for you! I’ve been doing this for years. I use white feather boas on my tree, it gives it a look of snow and moves ever so slightly with the air in the room!
my #1 hack for setting up my Christmas tree is to wear my coated gardening gloves when fluffing out the branches and adding the lights. It really saves on the scratches and pain so you can do it all much quicker.
For years I’ve used very plain red ornaments hung as far back as I can get them. It adds depth and even some cohesion to a tree filled with heirloom treasures, some children’s collections ornaments, handmade embroidered, and just fun ornaments. I will use your gold ornament idea on my very small kitchen tree that always looks a bit empty. Thank you.
My tree is 9ft and every year I have gold and white ornaments, there’s been lots added each year so the older ones stay in their packing , I use fabrics on my tree too , thank you for your tips ❤❤
Extra tip on the florals, always look at Joann’s/hobby lobby/Michaels Halloween & fall clearance! I use a lot of black in my flocked trees and 70% off Halloween is the best selection of black sparkly branches stems and picks for so cheap. Deep rich burgundy navy plumJewel tones and earthy sienna type tones are often abundant in the fall decor and often use lots of velvet and heavy textured things. You can break apart garlands for your own unique picks and sprays too. Joann’s and hobby lobby always have some cool different textured garlands at Halloween and fall that aren’t themed and make great cheap cost but high impact luxe looking tree add ins! Also you can spray paint just about anything if you can’t find things in your colorway and or gilding wax (like rub-n-buff) is great for making things a rich metallic finish.
I made myself a designer tree a number of years ago without anyone providing tips and now that I see this I am patting myself on the back because I probably did 5 of your 6. I found a couple of large velvet poinsettia wreaths, took them apart and wrapped the stems of each poinsettia with floral tape and those became my florals. I have lots of fabulous stems and picks that I angle into the tree and I have made a whack of mixed media ornaments from old DVDs that are great space fillers. I wire all my ornaments to my tree with paddle wire because my tree is already two textures and hooks don't want to stay on. The best part of the wire is that is you have a gap, you can wire an ornament upside down if you need to and nobody can tell. The only hard part is trying to keep myself from adding more, especially when I discover a new ornament I want to try making.
Thank you for the tips. I have been using most of them for years. Except I had found some darker green ornaments at hobby lobby years ago, and that is what I hang close to the trunk of the tree. I find the darker green blends beautifully with my tree but still reflects back the lights really well, allowing me to change up the theme over the years. I am looking forward to decorating for Christmas.
Also, always add odd numbers of things. Even numbers look wrong, same when putting plants into your gardens, or any decorating. An odd number of items is always more pleasing to the eye.
I bought a flocked tree this year and I wanted a fuller look so I bought the 9' long flocked garland from Walmart for around $15.99. Matches perfectly.
I learned from Colin Cowie years ago to to get a string or two of lights with bulbs bigger than the other bulbs on your tree. Before anything else goes on your tree, take these lights and string them inside your tree at or near the trunk . String from top of tree to bottom. I add these even though I have a prelit tree. When finished it is so pretty, adds depth and the tree looks bigger. Use colored strings for a colored light tree and white strings for a white light tree.
Yes I always add a string or two of lights to my prelit tree. It makes it glow. I never thought to add lights with bigger bulbs. Will start looking for the bigger lights now. 😊
@@jerryrobinpendleton5171 Hi! I think you will be pleased with the result. Not only had I not heard of bigger bulbs, but it had not dawned on me to string deep inside the tree. Years ago Colin Cowie had a TV show that I watched. One Christmas he demonstrated a tree done this way. Well, seeing is believing as his results were gorgeous. He actually used the big old vintage style bulbs which I do.
I love changing my ribbon out every year and maybe adding some new ornament colors. By changing the ribbon colors on my tree and wreaths it spices up the decor for each year, plus now I have nearly every color so pretty soon in future years I can just pick from my supply
@@JenniferDecorates yes last year we did Barbie Christmas so I bought some hot pink satin ribbon to go with red satin and burgundy velvet. It was so fun and festive plus I used all my childhood Barbie ornaments on the tree!
I bought a special ornament for each of my children that represented their major accomplishment that year. One year, we set their stuffed animals on branches near the trunk. My real tree always emphasized family, not an attempt to be magazine worthy. We never put anything breakable on the tree. I don't need change or follow trends. Now I have a 2-foot tall artificial tree that stays drcorated. I just pull it out of the box and set it on a stool.
Jennifer, first I hope you and your family are doing alright with all of the storms this year. Love your tips....but my I have so many ornaments that I guess the ornaments and the tensile is what makes my tree look full. BUT I am going to try the gold ornament hint this year. Thank you. Have a blessed day.
Jennifer I’m already decorating cuz it’s massive! So thank you for this video and loving all things Christmas! I believe in fluffing trees for sure! I have to have gold throughout my decorating but didn’t know to put them inside the tree! Always use picks but not always flowers so may add that this year! You make it all look so easy!🥹😅😋 Love adding accessories too! Thank you for this video and can’t wait for the next one!
I'm loving this video Jennifer! But..what if you have a medium flocked tree( I really wish I didn't) lol I just got a new 1 last year at HL and I hate it! But how do you do 1 of that style
I'm always eager to see a Jennifer video when they come out! A classy lady with good taste and normal ideas! Quick question. I have a ton of silver, shiny ornaments, will those reflect light and work just as good as the gold ones?
Great tips. I have a question what is your advice for doing a garland of bulbs on a tree . Like what is the best way to wind it around the tree, where to start and how to end. Thanks
Do you ever do eco friendly tree decorating? I try to be as plastic free in my home. We grow our own Christmas Trees in pots and each tree, once it hits about 4 feet tall, will work for our tree every Christmas for about 5 years before we plant them. I do make a lot of my own ornaments as I knit, tat, and crochet as well as making jewellery, so I always have bits and pieces that work in my tree. But I am looking for a non plastic but elegant tree ideas for something different. Dollar stores are not an option as although I am American, I reside in Scotland. They have hobby stores so I am able to get some essential things like ribbon, wire, etc. I would be grateful if you could point me in the direction of a more eco friendly design. Thanks so much and your tips were quite helpful, I especially loved the owls.
@@traceydeuschle-burke4231 exactly, seedheads, pampas grass, holly, I dry rosehip, hawthorn berries and even sprigs of by when they are filled with berry type pods. My lavender plants did really well this year, so I have many dried bouquets, some left is is and others that were braided and made into what the Scots call “wands” that I am going to put on some of the branches. I had never considered reeds either, I am going to give that a go as well. Thank you! 🙏🎄
Jennifer, I like to use ornaments I’ve collected through the years and places I’ve been. However, I also like a nicely styled tree. How can I combine the two?
Choose a color palette? Only use red and silver one year, green and white another year, etc. Do a mountain theme, a coastal/beachy theme, a Vegas theme, a French theme, etc. (Idk where you've been, so I'm just throwing ideas out there lol) Play around with different combinations and see what you like. I hope that helps 😊
I want to do that this year too. I think I'll have to unwrap whatever greenery is on the lower pole then get my husband to use his grinder and cut some inches off the pole itself. Will still use the tree stand but maybe slightly bow or bend those lower branches for just an inch or two as well.
Jennifer could you help me with some ideas? I have a really old white Christmas tree…..I can not trow it away 😮😊 but what can I do with it? Can I make a guirlande with it?
It seems as you use these ideas they are on the empty tree. It would be more useful to use each one in order and leave them on the tree so we can see how to do it. Does this make sense? In other words if you are going to ornaments in the middle and garland which would you put first and show us how each step works.
Maybe I’m the only one 🤷♀️. Haven’t bought a single thing to add to the tree in years and I won’t this year either. Everything I need is outside. An over decorated commercialized tree is not appealing to me at all. Each to their own. Enjoy the season.
I am thinking about my cat. Beautiful decorated trees are like a big cat toy to our cats. I started doing garlands and hanging them up where cats cannot get to them. Until I figure out how to get cats to leave tree alone, I can enjoy other's trees.
Who can afford all this extra stuff for trees??? I just go into the backyard and cut some branches off my conifers and stuff them into my tree. Yes they make a mess when they dry out, but who cares? They smell REAL and your tree will get heaps of compliments. The white feather boas sounds like a great idea to add into your tree. If i use a real tree, I often make snow to wipe on by adding a little water to clothes washing powder and mixing it into a slurry. Wear rubber gloves and remember it can bleach sppots on your carpet if any falls off.
She would love it if everyone came to your store because you don’t have enough money yet you want more money come to my store buy my stuff give me more money. I’m an interior designer, but I don’t have enough money. I only live in a $50 million mansion and I only have $500,000 in my bank account and I drive a Ferrari but I need more money. I’m never happy with just a little bit. Give me more give me a break lady I’m done, every time people start plugging their shit I quit
