I know these are two different beings but Carmilla reminds me of Demona from Disney’s Gargoyles. And for those who DO NOT Yor have never heard of this character I’ll make it as short as I can. Basically Gargoyles are creatures that are stoned by day warriors and flesh by night. Before she was named Demona she was second in command to a clan of gargoyles. However despite saving humans they swore to protect they were mistreated and used by the very humans. And Demona hated that. So, with a plan from the human’s side Captain of the guards they BOTH formed a plan to have the leader of the gargoyle clan led the entire clan out of the castle. And once the sun rises, the castle will be left defenseless and unprotected. Only then would Demona’s clan be free from human control. Sadly, the leader of the Gargoyle clan, Goliath( Demona’s mate and Captain) only took himself and one other gargoyle. Refusing to leave the castle unprotected. Demona, furious and enraged for Goliath’s decision slumped with the plan failing. The captain told Demona that he swore he would not let any harm come to her clan but convinced her to go with it. Demona, had some reservations of fully trusting him, so as dawn was approaching she glided to a cliff under the castle hiding there. When night fell she woken seeing and believing her plan worked for the castle lay in ruins and was burning. But when Demona searchers for her clan she found the broken remains of all her clan. Demona blamed the humans from a thousand years ago like Carmilla she was a being who believe she and her Ambitions would help Gargoyles alike at the cost of all humans on the planet. Its sad for Demona was a righteous warrior but sometimes when one is blinded by nothing but ambitions it turns them into the very beings they despise and hated…
Her plan would have never worked no matter how perfect though. Her entire vampire army could have went into Dracula's castle as we saw he would have destroyed all of them even starving as he was.
I wouldn't call Carmilla ambitious. She's envious. She covets what the "stupid old men" of the world have and wants it all for herself. Not because she needs it or it would make her happy. But simply because she wants what others have. Like Dracula's Castle, even though she already has one. There is a thin line between ambition and envy.
Yeah but a person can be envious and not do anything with it or about it. But Carmilla actively sought to take what she desired from others. Ambition only exists when a person acts to achieve what they desire.
@mjforeal7113 Except she had no real goal in mind. It was always changing. First, she sided with Dracula to garner some security, and then she realized that Dracula had lost his mind and betrayed him by staging an ambush at Braila. When that failed, she took Hector and her remaining forces with her back to Styria, with plans to use Hector to raise an army of Night Creatures in preparation to claim the lands between Styria and Braila as her own. Until she shifts the goal post to world domination. Carmilla doesn't give no real reason for these things. She didn't want to rule the world for her sisters or because it would make her happy or because she even cared. Her real reason is that she resented the "stupid old men" of the world, wanted all their stuff, and for them to be dead. Ambition without drive, without purpose, is envy.
@@elitegamer9310 I don't think her goal necessarily changed. How she pursued it changed because of the situation changing and her own mentality. Also she had multiple motivations, which were definitely interdependent. Her purpose was always the security and protection of Styria. She betrayed Dracula because his endgame was a threat to all vampires, and thus a threat to Styria. Why wouldn't she work to undermine him? However, Carmilla's flaw is that she didn't just desire security; she wanted to prove a point. She wanted to pronounce her superiority over those that disparaged her, and it caused her to act gratuitously. An extremely logical motivation was mingled with an extremely egotistical one. All her plans stemmed from the belief that her victory was assured, because she believed her superiority was a fact. That's why her ambition was her defining trait and her downfall. If you believed that you would always come out on top no matter what, what reason would have to not be fully dedicated to your cause? Carmilla followed her ambition to the very end, because she knew she was always going to win.
@AW-oh4qm Styria was actually weakened after Dracula. Carmilla lost a good number of her army at Braila and more on her way back home. Carmilla already had plenty of humans in Styria for blood. Any vampire in a position of power has humans around as a supply of blood. The problem was that for Carmilla's plans, she needed to expand her blood supply. But the biggest problem Carmilla had was one of her own making. She didn't have nearly enough manpower to take over all that land, and as Striga pointed out, it would turn into a never-ending battle against humans and rival vampires. A constant drain on their resources. Carmilla's solution was using Hector to create an army of Night Creatures like he did with Dracula. But of course, since she's a sexist vampire with a superiority complex, she never stopped and thought, "Geez, I sure am treating this wizard like shit. I should probably start treating him like he's a person if I'm going to need his help." Carmilla's grand "scheme" backfired before it even started.
stfu 😭 carmilla is such a great character, she was destroyed and used by stupid and evel old mens for a big part of her life; therefor we may not juge her because she hates them. she craves power and domination, those thngs she didn' t have once; the timùe where sshe was dominated by those mens and we can't blame her for that. she became a strong women, she was ambitious because envy is a too weak feeling to achieve all what she has done. she s smart and had all the potential ro succede. and i think and even believe that she was ambitious because her desires come from deeply increased traumas. she was ambitious and on the path of getting whatever she wanted. i honesly wish i had her motivation and her ambition, i really need it because i m being so lazy those times.
