@@littlelulu8433 bruh, you drunk? Hero of Leaf Valley was from Story of Seasons developer. I dont think you get the Harvest Moon-Story of Seasons shenanigans, nor did u watch the video
Contest in this sphere is good though. Bokujou Monogatari has ALWAYS been a series that's 2 steps forward, 1 step back. Having another Japanese company make a similar game has definitely lit a fire under Marvelous, that's why we saw the Friends of Mineral Town remake. As for post split Natsume Harvest Moon... if nothing else their games have been getting progressively better. Though Skytree to Light of Hope wasn't the leap most of us wanted, it helped them iron out the core of the game before going back to actual 3D.
Thank you for talking about this. There are so many people that still don't know this. I have had people who are really greatful to me for informing them. I feel so sorry to the fellow fans who don't know what happened to their beloved series.
Natsume have deleted some of my comments where I explained this to people who bought nastume's hm games. Which just makes me furious. It's bad enough that they keep releasing these shitty knock off harvest moons, but to hide the truth about it being an entirely different series? That's just awful and greedy. If they had been a bit more humble and transparent, I wouldn't hate them so much.
I didn't know about it until a friend told me around the end of last year. I LOVE harvest moon but was so disappointed that the newer games kinda suck... then she told me why, and what happened and how I might like Story of Seasons more. So I got friends of mineral town and I am loving it!

You'd be surprised by how many of them still unaware of this and yet claim to the the fans of the series. And that's exactly Natsume wanted too; uninformed fans. So that they get to sell their fake Harvest Moon because the title is basically the only one that makes their company survive.
I'm watching it atm and I'm probably having a brain fart but I'm genuinely confused. 0:35 makes it sound like Natsume lost publishing the game to marvelous so they made story of seasons, yet everyone is bashing Natsume for the current Harvest Moon so that can't be right. Ugh
@Superman Prime One Million i had a slight bias with grand bazaar on the ds, but FoMT was pretty good, one thing i didnt like personally was how fast the clock went though...
Not to be mean but I’m genuinely confused how Natsume hasn’t gone bankrupt after the years of their constant sad excuses for a farming game. They destroyed the Harvest Moon name so badly that I want them to just end. Which I know sounds heartless of me to say but this is a company that is basically scamming people. Light of Hope was a $60 dollar game that was recycled from their $10 mobile game. They had the nerve to make it a PS4 and Switch game too.
I always encourage people to just boycott natsume's harvest moon. They've had enough chances to show that they actually care, but instead they've just hid behind the good reputation of the HM name and pumped out shitty games made with zero effort. If they'd just been like "this is a different harvest moon series than what you grew up with, but we're doing our best to give you the best experience" it would actually not be that big of an issue. But they're just being shady about everything and that just pisses me off.
Light of Hope isn't a $60 game by any stretch, but neither was Little Dragon's Cafe. A game which was made by the original creator of Harvest Moon. Light of Hope's price is all over the place now though. Physical copies of the Switch game are ~$20-$30 while the eShop has it at $40. PS4 physical copies are $15-$20 while it's $40 for digital. Steam has it at $20, but it drops to $10 whenever there's a sale. As for it being a recycled version of the mobile game, well, that's what they said it was going to be. The mobile game was going to get a PS4, Wii U, and PC port. Then it didn't do well and they changed a lot about it and then chose to release it for PS4, Switch, and PC. If it took them 2 more games to fix the mechanics that were so close to almost good in Skytree Valley, then I'd say it's worth it.
@@RetroBossHunter But have you played it? It's not a terrible game by any stretch, especially if you enjoy farming games. There's dozens of worse games out there that cost more. Does it live up to the Harvest Moon name, not so much. To name a few similar games I've played that I'd say Light of Hope is actually better than: Gleaner Heights Deiland Castaway Paradise Summer in Mara Yonder: Cloud ... something or other Verdant Skies Games I'd say it's on par with: World's Dawn Staxel My Time at Portia Slime Rancher Littlewood All of the games, in the "on par with" list are games that are pretty good, but have pretty glaring faults which is true of Light of Hope. World's Dawn has engine limitations due to RPG Maker (and walking uses stamina), My Time at Portia is extremely buggy and runs terribly (I get framedrops below 60fps on a 2080ti and the Switch version is literally unplayable.), Slime Rancher has mid-game upgrade issues, Littlewood is completely RNG dependant, and Staxel I honestly haven't played enough to give a full opinion on but the biggest issue is I have is that the game doesn't have a good early game hook. I'd honestly recommend you try all of these games, except Deiland, if you truly like farming games. They all have different approaches to similar concepts and it can be really fun if you can get over the stumbling points of the games. Being a fanboy for a series is fine, but you should never blindly defend or attack something just because it's different.
Sadly, I have seen the trailer for one world and honestly it looks nice. Really nice, big glow up. But I know the gameplay and characters are going to be bland and boring. It makes me wish they still worked together so they could create something epic. The variety of creatures and design from harvest moon with the grace and polish or story of seasons gameplay and art. (I really want that to ride camels and Karen looks amazing with pink highlights. We will always be bff)
@@HadirUntukAnda As far as I know, basically Marvelous got XSEED through merging with other companies, and XSEED localizes games, so they saw it as more convenient and economic to use them to localize the Bokujou series than let Natsume do it. Also, I'm not sure if it had anything to do, but Natsume for some reason used their brand when localizing the Bokujou series and made it look like they were the ones who made the games, putting their logo in the cartridges and barely any (if any) mention of the original developers in the games (they had to put the names in the credits, of course, but I'm referring to the name of the studio or company).

"Battling" and "at each other's throats" are strong terms; the moment BokuMono series went to Marvelous, the Natsume-exclusive Harvest Moon never stood a chance. Story of Seasons is the only game I pay any attention to.
_Light of Hope's_ biggest draw was Edmond. :) It was also my first foray into this type of game, and it was less than a month ago that I picked up Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town. I enjoy both in their own ways, but the latter definitely does have a different flavor to it.

There's another game that was funded by kickstarter supposed to come out this year: Coral Island. It looks like the lovechild of Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley.
If Pioneers of Olive Town was coming out first, I wouldn't get one world, but since One World is coming out first, I need a game to hold me over until Pioneers of Olive Town comes out lol. I think that is Natsume's one advantage.
I can't believe they did not reference Animal Crossing in this video. Sure, it's not technically a farming simulator, but you can "farm" flowers, trees, rocks, fish and bugs, as well as have interesting conversations with the inhabitants. In my mind they have always been similar. Also, Rune Factory is a thing now. Don't forget Rune Factory, as others have pointed out.
I'll be buying them both... along with Rune Factory 5. There's something to like about ALL of these games. This year is going to be a good year for all of us who are fans of the genre.
Wait wait wait, so back in the day, Marvelous developed Harvest Moon but Natsume owned the rights and did the publishing? But then the companies broke apart from one another and Natsume took the IP and continued trying to make Harvest Moon games, while Marvelous made their own series which was a much better successor to the originals? It's all so confusing.
Long/Short of it - Natsume had the TM on the name Harvest Moon, Marvelous is the original developer/developed the games with Victor Interactive Software and then eventually absorbed Victor into Marvelous. Marvelous then decided to cut Natsume out and use their own western branch for localizing as it made more sense financially and was done within their own company, and Natsume kept the trademark as it was really their only revenue source and tried to make games that were indistinguishable (but ultimately nowhere near the quality of old HM). Story of Seasons Friends of Mineral Town is thought to be a remake that tries to get people to associate one of the best selling versions of OLD HM with the new Story of Seasons moniker so people will be less confused going forward. But Natsume clings on.
No, nothing changed in Japan. It was just a name change in the west. Natsume neved did shit. Natsume were the ones who made their own series and kept the name to misslead people into thinking nothing had happened.
Natsume is like the the parent who divorced and decided to take care of the children but doesn't know what to do. While Marvelous is the always close parent who maybe could not have the money, but will give love and unconditionally support the Child wherever they're. Harvest Moon name is dead, Story of Seasons is the true franchise.
Perfect timing, Zion ^^ Just saw the new harvest moon trailer and was upset they drop the game SO close to Story of Seasons and take sales away from it >.>“ but then I saw your video and now I just hope they coexist friendly and are both hopefully great, cause then we would get 2 good games in the long term ^^ but Im gonna wait and see how harvest moon turns out & get SoS Day one, already pre-ordered it, cant wait :3 loved Mineral Town, the new one looks so promising.
Tbh I understand why people feel negatively about Harvest Moon now & what it's turned into, but I'm honestly excited for all the games. Harvest Moon, Story of Seasons, Rune Factory 5. You can bet your bottom dollar, as long as I have the money, I'm getting all of them. They've been some of my favorite kind of games for so long ♥
I'm probably gonna pick up both games tbh, but I am disappointed that neither game seems to be using character portraits when having conversations with them. there's only so much you can show/do with in game character models during those scenes and the portraits helped enhance the emotions they showed.
Thank you for making this video! I was super confused with these series I was trying to figure out if they were the same thing or different and I guess the answer is both 💀
A google search could get out of all doubts in like three seconds. It's been seven years since that happen too I don't think you have an excuse if you are that interested in these games.
I don't know how they could be making amazing games like wonderful life and Animal Parade all those years ago and yet today, have such a step back in graphics. They both remind me of first generation Nintendo ds graphics.
Money RF5 and No More Heroes 3 were also being worked on I just assume SOS took the hit graphics wise do to monetary constraints I just hope the 30th anniversary edtion looks better.
Pre ordered collector's edition harvest moon probably getting story of seasons pre-order soon Natsune is developing these games from the ground up and its new to them hopefully with time they will be back to the old quality they had as a team
Nahh the old quality moved on to Story of Seasons. Natsume will never have the same quality because it's *not* their game and never will be. The team they had left and made SoS.
Natsume was mostly in charge of localizing the bokujo games. They didn't develop them or had that much to do with the making of the old harvest moon games. Which is why I'm confident that they are never going to be able to make a good harvest moon game. Ever. All they're doing is taking advantage of the name which they own. Which is in their right, but really greedy of them. At the very least they should've shown more effort than this.
Went to GameStop today to preorder the special editions Story of Seasons. They have a huge promotional poster in the window for upcoming switch games. It features Harvest Moon but doesn’t even mention Story of Seasons.
Yup. But alot of people get it all mixed up. The bokujo series(named harvest moon before) changed name to story of seasons and natsume owns the old name harvest moon, so they take advantage of that. So no wonder why people are confused.
Back when I was a kid, I adored Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. It was one of my favorite games, but I never got into the rest of the series. A month or so ago I was looking for Stardew Valley type games that could give me similar gameplay with a fresh cast of characters, and I thought to look at new Harvest Moon games. And the trailers and gameplay all looked so soulless -- even the trailer for the upcoming one seems more like a mobile game than a Switch game to me. I actually didn't know about the Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons split. I'll definitely look into those -- or maybe I'll just break out my old gamecube sometime.
I’m planning on getting Pioneers of Olive Town! So excited! I loved the 3ds Story of Seasons Trio of Towns! I was thinking about buying Mineral Town, but I’m just waiting for olive town now. Yay
I haven't played many games from the HM/SOS series but I liked Trio of Towns the most. Far more plenty of things to do than on Friends of Mineral Town (understandable because this is a remake of the GBA rather than a new game). But I still bought SoS: FoMT because the characters are cute lol.
I'll be grabbing Story of Seasons. I can't have enough farming sims, so I'd love for both to coexist, but Harvest Moon has a ways to go yet. As a PC player as well, I'm most looking forward to the sequel to My TIme at Portia dropping in early access in March.
Definitely excited for SoS: PoOT (wonderful acronym). Always get the feeling since Marvelous and Natsume split that Natsume is just taking advantage of the name Harvest Moon to try to get sales, while Marvelous feels like they make the games because they know people love them. I know some do like the newer HM games, but they really come off as a cheap cash grab to me :/ That, and FoMT and PoOT having gay romance is kinda dope and means a lot to me as someone who had to play HM: MFoMT as a kid when I realized I was gay (correct me if I'm wrong though, but I haven't seen anything about Natsume adding gay romance to their HM games).
Natsume has the rights for the Harvest Moon name. You say so as if they simply decided that they didn't wanted to share revenue animore with Marvelous and left them with the name. But Marvelous acquired XSeed so they no longer needed a third party to localize their games. Natsume was left with the name. You can't blame them still using as they already paid for it.
@@spark154 If that was the case, then Natsume would have sold the rights to the HM name to Marvelous when Marvelous fired them. The fact is that they were pissed about getting fired and tried to stick it to Marvelous by making games under the HM name, which has backfired spectacularly on them. I honestly don’t see Natsume lasting for long when they can’t even come close to competing. Their sales have been abysmal without the Marvelous powerhouse behind them.
@@ElizabethAlexander There is not explicit obligation for them to sell the name to Marvelous, and apparently Marvelous themselves didn't cared much either. Only Natsume knows how much they have invested in the name, demanding that they should forfeit it just because you find it awkward or whatever silly reason you have for it. Is ridiculous. The original series is called Story of Seasons now. Deal with it.
@@spark154 Um, I never said they were obligated to give it to them, and in fact said that they *could* have sold it to them and chose not to. Natsume is very obviously thinking that they can get more money by using their copyright rather than selling it. That thinking hasn’t paid off, when you look at sales of their HM games. They took a gamble and lost, big time, which is why I said I don’t expect them to be around forever. And don’t tell me to “deal with it” as if you have any clue who I am. I’ve been playing Bokujou Monogatari games for 25 years. Can you say the same?
@@ElizabethAlexander How is my investment in the series relevant in any way? You pretty much pulled the "Look at my game controllers and my Playstation hoodie I'm such a gamer!" card. Yeesh... You know that Natsume did way more than just localize Harvest Moon right? I was looking at my 3DS activity log yesterday and it shocked me to see how much of the games in there were published by Natsume. So, even when they no longer localize what is now known as Story of Seasons they still do a lot. If you have economic information to back up your claim, I'm willing to eat my words. If you have to know how invested I am into the franchise. I only play the Rune Factory series and the occasional Anime crossover which they call "Story of Seasons Fairytale" the Harvest Moon prior to The Lost Valley are boring to me. However. My opinion into those games is irrelevant, as the matter of the discussion is whether or not Natsume has the right to keep the name Harvest Moon, which they do, and if whether or not this affects Bokujou Monogatari in the end. Which. I'll be bold enough to say it doesn't. As entries to the series still come to the west under the name Story of Seasons.
I haven't played any Harvest Moon or Story of Seasons Game till Story of Seasons - Friends of Mineral Town came out. Haven't played it for a while but I really enjoyed it x3
I agree. Stardew is a great game which has brought many fans to the genre, but people need to keep in mind that it was made by one person. It will never be the quality that Story of Seasons is and thats fine. For what it is, it's amazing.
In my opinion stardew valley has that polished look and it has more personality to it. The landscape of stardew valley actually fits it while harvest moon looks way to cartoonish and out of place.
Hey there, random person that reads the comments first! Story of Seasons is the same thing as Harvest Moon! It is the actual, legit name for Harvest Moon in the west. Sounds confusing? It is - the Harvest Moon series had to be renamed in the west to Story of Seasons due to licensing issues. Someone involved in these issues then grabbed the "Harvest Moon" branding and started making games that were called "Harvest Moon" without being Harvest Moon games. Imagine Nintendo renaming "Super Mario" to "Plumber Adventures". "Super Mario 64" and "Plumber Adventures Odyssey" would thus be part of the same series. And now imagine that EA starts making puzzle games that are called "Super Mario". Then you understand what happened to Harvest Moon.
You can feel the love & passion of the creators on story of seasons. Actually some of the content is still the same old but they made it with small detail beautiful improvements that makes people still love it. The character is simple but charming. You can tell the passions. 👍🏻
It’s hard to imagine that story of seasons and rune factory 5 have the same developer. Rune factory 5 looks amazing! While Story of seasons look pretty meh.
Rune Factory 5 has been in development since before they were almost completely shut down. So like 6-7 years, because most of the plans were made shortly around the release of Rune Factory 4.
Rune Factory > Story of Seasons > Harvest Moon imo and the first two are interchangeable depending on tastes as both are Marvelous and are the better Harvest Moon successors than the name sake that Natsume puts out

Just gonna say this for all those uninformed and don't want to watch the video: Harvest Moon no longer feels like Harvest Moon because it ISN'T. Story Of Seasons IS. Natsume own the name but that's it. The actual Harvest Moon series is Story Of Seasons. Marvelous (the company the devs work under) no longer wanted Natsume to translate and publish Bokujo Monogatari (Japanese Harvest Moon/Story Of Seasons which directly translates to Ranch Story) in the west, but for some reason Natsume owns the name they gave it in the west, Harvest Moon. Puzzle de Harvest Moon, Harvest Moon: Frantic Farming, Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley, Harvest Moon: Seeds of Memories, Harvest Moon: Skytree Village, Harvest Moon: Light of Hope, Harvest Moon: Mad Dash, and Harvest Moon: One World are FAKES, PHONIES, AND SOULESS CASH GRABS
I loved Harvest Moon as a kid, but with each iteration, I got a little more bored with what felt like not a lot of innovation and a lack of quality of life improvements. I adore Stardew Valley, it feels like a game made by a fan of the original HM games, with innovation and QOL improvements that I wanted. And he keeps putting out new updates with new content, including a big one coming this year(hopefully). I have seen nothing from either HM or SOS games that show look like any noticeable improvement over their existing formulas, so I have no reason to go back to them.
Harvest Moon on the SNES to Harvest Moon 64 was the only major jump in quality. HM 64 was amazing. I bought the next three games in the series just because I was hoping they would all have that magic... nope. Every game after HM64 just fell flat in one area or another. I'm getting both, they can have my money

I dont think you get the Harvest Moon-Story of Seasons shenanigans, nor did u watch the video
There's still going to be those die-hard fanboys that think they're supporting the "right" Harvest Moon.
Rune Factory 5 be like : Are im i joking to you????
It's not (in my opinion)
It is a FACTS
I learned about the name change a few years ago after I played Stardew Valley and wanted to play a new Harvest Moon game again because I was feeling nostalgic.Thank god I saw gammalads video on the change or else I would have bought light of hope.
I got sos fomt and liked it well enough.Im interested in Olive Town when it releases next month.
Ugh
Harvest moon died many years ago, feels like cashgrab nowadays. I'll stick to the original, story of seasons that is!
@Superman Prime One Million with good reason. It's like the best of the story of seasons series.
@Superman Prime One Million Haven't played FoMT in gameboy but I am playing the remake right. Really good game.
@Superman Prime One Million i had a slight bias with grand bazaar on the ds, but FoMT was pretty good, one thing i didnt like personally was how fast the clock went though...
i'm not even gonna waste my money on harvest moon. story of seasons is the clearly superior game and from the original series.
@@Tejan45 Even at $5 I won't buy that shit of a game.
Yeah, I tried playing Light of Hope on mobile and it was... ok? But it just didn't grab me.
@@RetroBossHunter But have you played it? It's not a terrible game by any stretch, especially if you enjoy farming games. There's dozens of worse games out there that cost more. Does it live up to the Harvest Moon name, not so much.
To name a few similar games I've played that I'd say Light of Hope is actually better than:
Gleaner Heights
Deiland
Castaway Paradise
Summer in Mara
Yonder: Cloud ... something or other
Verdant Skies
Games I'd say it's on par with:
World's Dawn
Staxel
My Time at Portia
Slime Rancher
Littlewood
All of the games, in the "on par with" list are games that are pretty good, but have pretty glaring faults which is true of Light of Hope.
Hope newcomers don't get One World and are immediately turned off :/ Excited for olive town
@@demonheart13 yeah what the story behind natsume and marvelous broke up? because i think natsume is the smaller one why making the decision like that
@@HadirUntukAnda As far as I know, basically Marvelous got XSEED through merging with other companies, and XSEED localizes games, so they saw it as more convenient and economic to use them to localize the Bokujou series than let Natsume do it.

Yeah i miss playing that game
I didn't have a problem with the graphics, In fact they are probably my favorite story of seasons/harvest moon graphics. For me its probably the dinky festivals, and how long the animations can be. It's a prop knife quite clearly made of plastic, the type that *that* kid brought into school trying to be cool, but it only came off as kind of weird and definitely was a cry of help covered in layers of angst.
Story of Seasons has always delivered. Harvest Moon looks improved visually but I'm not sure about the gameplay going by the previous entries.

Harvest Moon has never looked so empty until now...
It's always a hoot explaining this to people. One of my friends thought story of seasons was the ripoff just going by their names.
It's so unfortunate. I keep bringing this up everytime I see people online being all like "wtf happened to harvest moon! It looks shitty" and tell them that the series has changed names to SoS. But natsume has actually deleted some of them. Which is super shady.
Keep spreading the word, I can't just stand natsume taking advantage of unaware fans.
I agree this looks like it might be the nail in the coffin if Harvest Moon can't get it together with this game. I'm still getting just Story of Seasons though. Yes I have Stardew Valley and love it.
I want the "Harvest Moon" name back while playing Story of Seasons :(

Funny enough, the new name is a closer (still not exact or even correct) translation of Bokujou Monogatari (the original name, meaning Farm Story).
Even tho I loved to heck Back to Nature and played a bit of A Wonderful Life, I somehow think the new name is better. Took me years to finally understand what even Harvest Moon meant at all given I'm not a native English speaker, much less a farmer in an English speaking country.

As for Stardew Valley, it’s bothersome that it’s always brought up when discussing SOS/HM. They’re in the same genre, but saying you only have to play one and not the other is like saying you should only play one game of any genre. Each brings something unique to the table though!

Who ever is voicing this you did a good job thank you so much.
Yeah basically
They've been some of my favorite kind of games for so long ♥
With the remake of friends of mineral town, I don't mind that it's a bit lacking, because I'm too blinded by the nostalgia tbh 😂😂
Pre ordered collector's edition harvest moon probably getting story of seasons pre-order soon
Natsune is developing these games from the ground up and its new to them hopefully with time they will be back to the old quality they had as a team
I'm getting the new Story of Seasons game. After the split, I never played another Harvest Moon game.
Good! We need to stick together!
And here I am waiting for Rune Factory 5
Went to GameStop today to preorder the special editions Story of Seasons. They have a huge promotional poster in the window for upcoming switch games. It features Harvest Moon but doesn’t even mention Story of Seasons.
That's sad
I love story of seasons games
Would be good if they hired the developer for Mara to work on Harvey moon graphics
I just hope they're both great.
I'll definitely buy SOS:POOT, and I'll probably give HM:OW a chance, because I actually liked Light of Hope.
Isn’t Story of Seasons the Real Harvest Moon anyway.
Yay
SOS Trio of Towns was awesome
You could get a bear as pet in Animal Parade.
Harvest moon or now Story os seasons all the way.
I haven't played any Harvest Moon or Story of Seasons Game till Story of Seasons - Friends of Mineral Town came out. Haven't played it for a while but I really enjoyed it x3

This is the story during a season of a harvest moon. Where they fight to the death and buried by stardew valley.
The harvest moon games don’t even belong on modern mobile phones, maybe a iPod from 6 years ago.
I am still playing Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland and Harvest Moon 64 💁🏻♂️
Stardew valley can't hold a candle to Story of Seasons
I don't get what you are trying to say but stardew valley is better imo
I agree. Stardew is a great game which has brought many fans to the genre, but people need to keep in mind that it was made by one person. It will never be the quality that Story of Seasons is and thats fine. For what it is, it's amazing.
Both loses to Rune Factory either way while Fantasy Life stares from the distance of never getting ported to the switch.
In my opinion stardew valley has that polished look and it has more personality to it. The landscape of stardew valley actually fits it while harvest moon looks way to cartoonish and out of place.
@@arangaming1415 Onyx is comparing Story of Seasons vs Stardew Valley though, not Harvest Moon
Ah yes, give a gift so you can "ring that bell" 😉 haha XD
You can feel the love & passion of the creators on story of seasons. Actually some of the content is still the same old but they made it with small detail beautiful improvements that makes people still love it. The character is simple but charming. You can tell the passions. 👍🏻
It’s hard to imagine that story of seasons and rune factory 5 have the same developer. Rune factory 5 looks amazing! While Story of seasons look pretty meh.
Rune Factory 5 has been in development since before they were almost completely shut down. So like 6-7 years, because most of the plans were made shortly around the release of Rune Factory 4.
Aren't they created by two different developers, though?
Leaning more towards SoS, but the Pokemon Snap-like feature and the harvest spirit (aka, Korok seed) hunt in Harvest Moon look interesting...
Rune Factory > Story of Seasons > Harvest Moon imo and the first two are interchangeable depending on tastes as both are Marvelous and are the better Harvest Moon successors than the name sake that Natsume puts out
I agree, Rune factory had the most life out of all of them.
@@iangenes8434 im excited for the new one coming out 🔥💯 and yeah they still had all the great qualities of an old school Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons game but with JRPG elements and story. I think its a great mix.
A comment I can get behind
My brother worked at Gamestop for many years. They always got more plushies than preorders, so he'd give me the extras. I had three cows, a couple sheep, a capybara, a chicken...
Am I the only one waiting for a wonderful life remake?
I've already pre-ordered harvest moon for nostalgia and excitement of a new game. Delighted to see they're still working on how it looks! Hopefully gameplay will be just as upgraded. But i definitely plan on getting story of seasons as well
I rather get Rune Factory 5. SoS though, if the European release date is going to be set towards the end of next year. To pass the time.
A mineral town more fairhful to back to nature with a 20 yr story is what I'm hoping for.
I want to see rick's dad, May's mom, Aja, etc.
In a nutshell:
Before 2013
Bokujou Monogatari = Harvest Moon
After 2013
Bokujou Monogatari = Story of Seasons
Harvest Moon = Trash
Just gonna say this for all those uninformed and don't want to watch the video:
Harvest Moon no longer feels like Harvest Moon because it ISN'T.
SDV really got me back into the genre. These new games look like maybe they learned a thing or two from SDV. I have high hopes anyway.
@@麒麟飞舞的 thank you someone else who remembers Harvest Moon 64 I will pay like 60 dollars if they port that to pc with only bug fixes and keep the looks and feels it brings also xbox 360 gampad comparability
I am personally loving Harvest Moon One World. The story is actually pretty nice and deep. Not to mention the characters, especially the marriage candidates have a lot of life to them. The graphics are nice too but I will agree that Pioneer of Olive Town seems to have a better quality.
I really love the look Pioneers of Olive Town and can't wait to start playing it. I especially love that it has a camera feature similar to the one in Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild! I also live that we are going to have a museum like in Animal Crossing series. I am kinda hoping that there will be character portraits though like in most of the previous games, but it still looks nice.
I wish they could be in smash. 😔
Actually....
I'm trying to finish 100% HM: light of hope, but some of the crops are really hard to get. Thanks for clear things up, I was having that argument with my husband when I saw Story of Seasons on Steam, now I can clear that up with him.
I might get pioneers of olive town eventually but I'm honestly kinda interested in how one world will turn out
my all time favorite harvest moon game is always the simple, 2d, pixelated friends of mineral town on the gameboy advance.
I feel like Natsume just wants to annoy Marvelous! until they buy the brand from them back.
They won't buy the name back. The game has been called Story of Seasons for 4 games now.
5 if you consider Doraemon Story of Seasons part of the series
@@dezcrafts5354 I didn't say they'd rename it Harvest Moon, though. It'd be unwise.
I said they'd buy the IP to stop them from publishing more.
@@EmiCheese ah, well either way it’s still the same name as it’s always been in Japan so I don’t think they really care so much that the name is different in the West. It’s not like games under harvest moon are doing well now a days.
Honestly, I wish they'd go back to the Wonderful Life style. True 3D. Not the 2.5D top-down
