  • The new silicone mat for the concetrator bowl works fantastic at recovering the super fine gold. The new mat is a big improvement with a skim coat of raw silicone on top of the mat and only 1/8th inch thick.
    The silicone miller table goes on the back burner for now it just doesn't hold the gold like the blue bowl does.
    The molds are available here jrprinting.big...

    I have the blue bowl. I like to dry my cons, classify everything into seperate sizes down to -50, pull all the magnetics out of each keeping the magnetics in seperate sizes then wet everything back up, run everything separately on it's own in the blue bowl with jet dry and I feel like I get all the gold out easily.
    I do like that blue bowl silicone mat though!! 😁🤘

    Use Roofing Membrane rubber for the table. It is made to be wettable with water. Also use Jet Dry.
    I think it is known as EDPM Elastomer or something similar. Use regular Silicone Seal to glue it.

    Alan, your miller table mat idea is very good. The problems you experience with water flow is because original miller table surface is not made from silicone. You got very good setup here, just need to narrow the width of your miller table down to 2-3 inch. It will look like a mini sluice without riffles, yes, but it will be easier to control water flow.

    Hi Alan. I had the same problem when I tried to make a silicone Miller Table. I tried painting the Silicone on the deck of one and on another I made a solid top out of Silicone. I did a video but before I put it up, I decided to see if you had the same problem I did. Looks like you did. I really do like your design and it certainly is easy to get to work, but not out of Silicone unfortunately. If it's ok with you, I'll make one with your design that works very well. That makes a right nice little mini Miller Table. Looks like the blue bowl part works very well.

    • @alanrobertson2510
      @alanrobertson2510  4 роки тому

      Alan Robertson
      I put one together and it was looking pretty good except it was rather long. So I'm making another one that has better proportions and it is looking a lot better. Just trying to decide on how to do the water. Yep, it has a 2" Silicone mat at the end that can be taken out and emptied or changed for another mat.
      I'm trying to design it to be really easy to build like your other equipment.

    • @arne6787
      @arne6787 4 роки тому +1

      Sounds like the Miller table needs strips of Silicone going across rather than the whole surface, somewhat like riffles. I use pergo flooring, the smooth bottom side, already painted, very smooth and flat. Makes for a long narrow Miller table. I feed my blue bowl into it. Sides a made using molding from Home Depot also.

    • @utahavalanch
      @utahavalanch 4 роки тому +2

      Arne
      I have been building these for the past 11 years and have tried just about everything you can think of for the table surface. You need a material that the gold will stick to and the blacksand won't. Unfortunately both stick to the Silicone as they are both metal. The best thing for a Miller Table surface I have found so far is Rustoleum Chalkboard paint. The gold will stick to it but all the other materials won't. Great stuff. I use it on my sluice slick plates as well as you can see if there is gold in the dirt and it slows the fine gold down so it will get caught in the top Riffle of my mat.

    This innovation with the silicon mat on the floor of the blue bowl is terrific. This should sell like hat cakes to any blue bowl user. But it creates another small problem because the gold sticks to the silicon making it difficult to snuffer up. I was thinking that maybe you could develop a new type of snuffer - one that uses a small motor to suck up the gold rather than than squeezing that snuffer bottle continuously for fifteen minutes.
    On another vein I was thinking that there is no reason to snuffer up all the gold (completely clean it), just get that you can easily get on your first pass. The rest you can leave in there. It’s not going anywhere, so no reason to slave at it or ever remove the mat.

    This is the big problem I have been having with my Miller Table. Either the super fine gold flows down or the water separates on me. The Blue Bowl is not much better with the flat flakes we have. I have seen them wash right down the middle on me. Either that or nothing washes out.

  • @formerlyuser123

    Blue bowls out of the box have no issue catching superfine gold, provided you preclassify your material. Stock blue bowls arent meant for material bigger than 30 mesh. The more you classify it the better your capture rate on fines will be. Personally I do 30-50, 50-100 and then 100 minus, with slower water flow for the 50- and much slower for the 100-
    I make my living as a solo alluvial gold miner so process a lot of cons. Every few months i clear out the bucket under the blue bowl and re classify and re run it all super slow and careful and i typically get a number of specks in the single digits. Blue bowls run correctly are very effective.
    Lately ive moved onto a spiral wheel, with the high grade feeding down a bit of pvc pipe into a small 30 mesh sieve sitting over the blue bowl. This gives me 99% recovery rate, the 1% will be collected next time theres a rainy day and i dont want to head out

    Maybe a thin layer of flex seal liquid rubber painted on the silicone . or hold a can of spray paint about 2 feet over the matting and spray from the discharge side twords the resevoir side, to give a speckel-wear look and the texture should help hold the gold.and from that side so it gains a little more depth and slows the water down on the far end.

    Have the water enter the table from underneath.
    Make a pool of water that rises up and over the hole edge of the table.
    Rather then having the water dump unevenly from above.
    Get a smooth flow of water flowing across the hole table.
    The pump fills the sump and over flows onto the miller table.
    Ok yes cyclone is causing the dry spots, but a nice smooth flow may help.
    This is a untested idea.

  • @seanbdalton

    I'm new to all this, so correct me if I'm wrong; wouldn't the miller table require jet dry or soap in order to break the surface tension and allow the lower water flow to work correctly? It seems to me that there is too much surface tension which can be chemically treated with soap.
