    You guys are a bit harsh.... I've owned several Thor RVs and I have not had issues.... you never know exactly how that leak happened - thransportation mishap? Could be a number of easons and not just manufacturing.... and when you said that show RVs should be shown as the best possible RV well it's the show RVs that get the most wrecked by people doing things inside while they are looking at them. Having said all this I am not connected with Thor in any way but I really have appreciated the Thor RVs I have had and I very much appreciate the accessibility of Thor and their 24/7 service techs phone line.....

      Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We are always open to other viewpoints. And yes, anything could have caused the leak. We've never owned a Thor but have heard stories from friends who were unhappy with their purchase. Now, not every Thor is bad and some folks love the Axis and like you love Thor. It's a cute Class A at an affordable price point. We never toured a Thor and wanted to give them a chance so we went on the first day of the RV show hoping to be surprised. We'll be at the Florida RV show in Jan. Perhaps we will give them a second chance. Thanks again and safe travels. ~Sherri and John

    Thank you for your honest reporting. Buyer beware. As long time RVers we know to look carefully at all aspects of a coach and take nothing for granted. That said, we're moving from a 5th wheel to a small class A, and that has some different areas to double check. I appreciate this review from you both.

      Our pleasure! We want to make sure folks are careful with their purchases. These rigs are very expensive and it could be devastating to get a poor quality unit. Best of luck finding your Class A!

    Thank you so much for touring the Axis. I was really into the Vegas (sister product of Axis) until I started looking at Class B RVs. Currently I’ve been interested in the Thor Compass, and I’ve always heard they weren’t the best quality. But now seeing this video proves all the “not so great” reviews I’ve read are true, unfortunately.

    • @AmpedtoGlamp
      @AmpedtoGlamp  Рік тому

      We were disappointed too! We heard Thor was poor quality but we wanted to give them a chance.

    ITA with your Thor-avoidance. We have heard so many stories from Thor product owners that would have us vowing never to even consider any of their units.
    That said, if someone is looking for a better-quality small class A they might want to investigate the Newmar Bay Star Sport models. The smallest one is only a foot bigger than the Thor model you reviewed here (even though it is a 24.1 model it's actual length is almost 26') but the quality is way beyond Thor and the service support is terrific (Mount Comfort RV has a great review of the smallest Bay Star Sport). We have a 2022 Newmar Bay Star (not a Sport model) and despite all the warnings about buying a "Covid Coach" we've had only minor issues and all were quickly taken care of by the Newmar dealer.
    Yes Newmars are more expensive than Thors but I would take a used Newmar over a brand new Thor any day!
    Thanks again for another honest video!

    We looked at these before and they're just too dang small. You get an A class for the space, amenities and that it is drivable. All the Thor RVs that I saw were poor quality and made with cheap parts, products and inside finishes. The leak would be a deal breaker. I guess the idea of wanting an A class makes this RV a compelling choice. The only thing that makes this an A class is the exterior design and the front windshield. Everything else screams small C class. Call me an A class snob, but this one I wouldn't touch. I like your review. It was spot on. Thanks for sharing.

    • @AmpedtoGlamp
      @AmpedtoGlamp  Рік тому +3

      You are right,. It's the price that draws in the consumer for this model. But even Thor calls it an RUV and it is built on the Class C chasis.

    I really like the size of this. Love the big class A but the drivability is what more important for us. We really don’t need a lot of space but we only travel with our cat, she is not left behind. Quality materials is an absolute must so this is disappointing in that aspect. Nice showing, ty.

    The first thing I want to see when I’m looking at an RV is the interior space! Not the dang storage cabinets underneath and fresh water tanks etc. You guys ARE fun to watch! But this video needs to be taken from the perspective of someone who’s never seen this RV before ! Show the exciting stuff first. Paint the picture of what the whole interior space is like and then go on to show all the smaller detail items.

    The Thor Axis is very similar in design to the discontinued Winnebago Via 25T but so inferior in many ways. Winnebago quality is much better and the Via has the advantage of being on the Mercedes Benz Sprinter chassis with a diesel engine. If you're looking for a smaller class A motorhome with a narrower exterior width (7.6" for the Via), there aren't many choices and you may want to consider a used Via, which is what we are currently doing. If you want something new, then consider the Winnebago View. Thanks for posting the video and confirming once more that lower end Thor products should be avoided. I think Thor deserves their reputation.

    • @AmpedtoGlamp
      @AmpedtoGlamp  Рік тому

      OMG...I had to look up the Via and its adorable! Yes, too bad there aren't many options for a small Class A. Let us know if you find you're Via. This is definitely a model Winnebago should bring back!

    • @stephenbrasure4331
      @stephenbrasure4331 Рік тому

      We just purchased a 2015 Via 25T. It's a nice rig and Winnebago didn't go cheap on it. The Sprinter chassis rides so much better than the F50 gas motor home chassis and on the 158 mile ride from North Tonawanda NY to home, we averaged a little over 14 mpg. Even with the price difference between gas and diesel fuel, that makes for a big savings. At only 7 1/2 ft. wide, I really like having a little more clearance in construction zones. I think Winnebago stopped making them because you can get the same layout and features by buying a Winnebago View which is also on the Sprinter chassis. The 25T has a lot of storage space for a small rig....but I plan to have my rig weighed just to make sure we haven't overloaded it.

    Great tour. I always looked at the axis as a class b on steroids. Especially interesting when you could get one under $80k. What was the show price BTW?
    Your build quality segment is spot on as we need to call out manufacturers and their willingness to overcharge for poor quality to the point of consumers expect to have issues and just hope they are not that bad...............

      @@AmpedtoGlamp Yes, "geod3589" above is 100% correct...but a RV maker that puts out quality products (meaning fit & finish, materials used AND a serious warranty/customer care AFTER the sale) -- not crap like Thor -- is hard to find for American RV makers. So, I wish a Canadian maker built these -- like Pleasure-Way or Leisure Travel Vans for 2 examples.
      These small Class As are GREAT in concept -- I'd go for one myself -- but they're not so great re: the making of them. Sad, but Thor is "no sale" for me.
