In that 1973 Kirshner concert when Jimmy introduced the The Williettes and she out dancing and shaking, it gave me palpitations. She's still beautiful.
The epitome of Southern Rock. "Dixie Rock" "Leona" "Grits Ain't Groceries" "Shout Bamalama" "Country Side of Life" it doesn't get any more southern than those songs. A VERY talented and tight band. The Williettes were the inspiration for the more famous Honkettes of Lynyrd Skynyrd
glad to see so many wet willie fans here,..what a band ......killer rhythm section,...good vocals and jimmys a great front man, and of course ricky hirsch laid down some mighty funky rockin riffs...dont get wrong ...i love all the rest,..allmans, lynyrd, cdb, and the rest, but there was something about wet willie i always loved, .......grits aint groceries, hunh! thank you donna, and to all the rest of the members of the band.....for the great tunes and vibes,......
Take it to the Music!!! Chris- what a great wet Willie reference!! Nice. A true WW fan would know that! Been awhile, we met backstage at the angel ride show across the bay from Mobile, with Tucker and Willie headlining, I’m Travis’s son bud. Glad to see you are doing this and look forward to many more awesome podcasts! Hope all is well my brother in the blues.
Reading those liner notes. Yep, I did. I read a little Rolling Stone but only a little. (No Creem) I was most interested in the learning about who was responsible for putting the recording together. I learned early on that anything produced from Tom Dowd, had to be in the library. My first, and only, witnessing of Wet Willie was in Greensboro as part of a 3 artist lineup with Goose Creek, Charlie Daniels and Willie. I saw Donna as a backup there and had an instant crush flung upon me. Thanks for reminding me of that time in my younger days. Now, my first doctor visit on Medicare.😎
Is this the same girl that sang with Mark Farner and Grand Funk on “the Locomotion”video?? They are Gods here outside Flint Mi. I’ve seen it 10 million time. They went to my H.S. She was and is a very talented lady.

Love Wet Willie, the Halls were a big part of Southern Rock.
There's not another band that was MORE Southern Rock than Wet Willie
