Hey, Thanks for Sharing this kind of things. Hey, I have an issue like there isn't understand that where can i get that link or can I make kind of my JSON file link to visualize my area?
I would ask the reviewer to take a look at the state of Washington when you drill to the county level, the visual is aggregating all Washington counties into one. It also can't tell the difference between counties of the same name from different states, simply summing the total for all counties of the same name. I'm not sure how the developers or even the reviewer didn't catch this, but the visual is essentially broken since the whole point of the map is to add hierarchies and in its current state it can't do even the most basic of hierarchies properly. Pretty bad when a visual can't even produce a proper example file without a major bug appearing. I post this so that other people don't have to figure this out the hard way and end up with half a workday down the drain like I did.
hey thanks for sharing this information ....but i have one confusion with the shape file address u have copied. i have shape file in my computer but when i m copying the address its showing invalid file ...kindly reply what is the issue with me. Thank you
Hi Priyanka, you have to point to a URL. Using a file on your local computer won’t work. I am not sure if you know, but we offer many On-Demand Learning courses, such as, Power BI, Azure, SQL Server, Data Science, Business Intelligence and much more. I think its going to be very helpful to you. You should check out our FREE trial here: www.pragmaticworkstraining.com/trial-registration/?source=odl_youtubeorg P.S. NO credit card required
I am still confused how we connect to Shape file with this visual as it appears to be off a web link. I am looking to do a US zip code map and to incorporate our Sales Territories. Where are I get this US zip code shape?
US Census Bureau will get you the shapefile for US zip codes, then you can use mapshaper (mapshaper.org) to convert the file to a geojson (or more used TopoJson file) Topo is what you need for the map
The files for this demo are no longer online, too bad as it seemed like a great thing to try. Any chance the files may be put in another location if you happen to still have a copy?
Thanks. Sorry I figured it out. I had to get a City column in my spreadsheet and put that in the location field and then it showed up. However now I have a problem with the link I'm using for the shape file. It was created on ArcGIS.com and unable to download so have to use the https link to it. I guess I have to figure out how to convert from https link to Json? Also, unable to get the desktop version as budget is limited and unable to pay for it out of my own pocket.
I've had varies success with this visual. One of the major things is ensuring that the references in the JSON file match the geographical references in your dataset. For example, some JSON files may reference a code for the city instead of the name. If that's the case then you would need that same code in your dataset.

Thanks Andrew Tarvin for your magnificent overview!

I don't have the Shape option under Format with my Drill Down Choropleth in Power BI.
Hi there. I believe it is not selected correctly because this is a pretty standard configuration you must do to use this.

how we can edit color conditional formatting for this map?
Good presentation but the only task is missing in PBI in all maps visual is LABEL - there is n option for label ON/OFF in maps
The links which you have used was expired and it's getting 404 error can you please provide a new json links for USA country
Can we add streets or satellite underneath?
Not on this map but others like ERSI does allow this.
Great video.
I wonder if Power BI can create map just as easy asTableau in this video

Hi my good man. Do you know where I can download a great world map?
If you Google it, you can find some great ones. :)
I have .shp files, it doesn't seem to work with that, do you know why ?
