My favourite era of The Damned was 1979-1982. Disco Man is simply a masterpiece that deserved so, so much more attention and chart recognition than it actually got. So many brilliant songs on MGE and the Black Album it is difficult to comprehend how they continually went under the radar. The Damned were the no 1 punk band and the fact that they are still going today is testament to how entertaining and brilliant they are. Here's to the 45th anniversary reunion gigs next year (2021) Gawd bless The Damned.💀☠👻👺
Vanian such a class act. Love this version of one of my fav Damned tunes.. They played this last couple of times I have seen them.. They are the cornerstone of the early punk..
I agree. The Black Album is their post-punk masterpiece, Strawberries is a close second. And some of that carried over into Phantasmagoria, which is also very good.
jajajajaa... bono could get no shit from dave. no...wait...bono stole shit from everybody then put it all into a song.dunno...i think the title was angel of harlem.my names wild mick riot
I'd like to thank all you bootleggers for giving me some of the funniest moments of my life. Part of the magic of this band was the things Sensible said on stage, and the umpteen different versions of Looking At You that got me into the guitar....CHEERS!
Haha, on Damned videos there always seems to be arguments over peoples' images and who stole what from who. Would it be so hard to believe that more than one pair of sunglasses exists, or that white hair dye (not shown here I guess!) is available in different shops, etc? Haha.
@ILiveOnMyBoat You speak the truth...... The ep was on NEMS for some reason - I have a feeling they went from stiff (DDD / MFP) to chiswick (MGE / Black album) to bronze (strawberries) then NEMS (the EP) and then onwards to gothdom elsewhere.... I have a feeling that bronze collapsed or was taken over
people talking about U2 ripping off the Damned - what about Spandau Ballet - Hadley admits they were his favourite band - listen to 'Gold' and close your eyes and imagine it's the Damned - go on.
Kelly14UK Roman Jugg played on the Anything and Phantasmagoria albums if I'm not mistaken. Obviously, during Captain Sensible's absence in the band. Still, a very underrated guitar player! \m/
the damned are the greatest Band in Punk and Rock History.
Their Songs are all classic
tunes.
long live the damned.
The reason for their longevity. They were good musicians/ showmen.
Paul Gray is a great bass player - without doubt the ultimate line up
Do we all agree this is just made of severe AWESOME!!!
Bono couldn't tie Dave's shoes!!
Rat Scabies, a vastly underrated rock drummer, and built like a Sherman tank to pull it off.
The Damned - Vanian, Sensible, Scabies & PAUL GRAY!
Love Paul Gray, love Dave, love rat love Capt, love everything from the Damned.
One of the greatest rock n' roll bands of all time.
My favorite era of The Damned.

I saw this line up at a little club in Long Beach, L.I. in the early '80s. Incredible show!

1982. As far as i know, the first song they wrote and performed live after the Friday 13th EP was Gun Fury.
Vanian such a class act. Love this version of one of my fav Damned tunes.. They played this last couple of times I have seen them.. They are the cornerstone of the early punk..
Bono wishes he was THIS cool!!!

I first saw these true legends in May 1981

Its on 'LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL' and 'THE LONG LOST WEEKEND' its also on the CD version of 'BEST OF THE DAMNED'
Yeah they did- I watched them on their '81 'friday 13th' mini tour and I recorded it with little tape recorder in my jacket and they did Gun Fury.
Yeah its 82', I remember dave growing his hair for strawberries tour.
I'd like to thank all you bootleggers for giving me some of the funniest moments of my life.

Hey look, seems we now know where Bono got his Zootopia look. Dave rulez. ;)
Always wondered if Disco Man and Dozen Girls were about the same guy, and if he was a real life guy they all knew.
Bono stole the look from Dave, Dave took it from Dracula...
@richardnirvana It was a single and also on a few of the way too numerous Damned compilations. Great tune though !!!
Around 81/82. Paul Gray on bass.
😍
Out of England.. The Damned. Bless Germans

I hope u sis
This band is good. Too band when I try to tell my brothers they don't care because they like "Metallica" more. Like whatever dudes.
What's Bono doing trying to impersonate Dave V.?????
@RebelSpiritof77 yeah except no handlebar mustaches here hahaha
Sounds like a cross between The Groundhogs and Egg -
know what I mean, Captain???
jepa jee
How many people have ripped off Dave Vanian look, from Bono to johnny depp..
@sleepwalker3125
It isn't on Strawberries
Pretty damnded good....
Down the stairs, no-one cares - He who wins is he who dares - Rock n Roll, lose control - Just forget you're on the dole!!!

Paul & Lemmy ,you cant beat a Ricky !
Vanian looks like Bono in that vid!..
what year it this?
I'm from the future. This was shot in 1981(?) Ifi had to guess.
As Mr Milosit says Bono looks like Dave, and without Joy Division no U"
Vanian gonna sue Bono for biting his style. Also - Rat was (is?) one hell of a drummer.
As Mr Milosit says Bono looks like Dave, and without Joy Division no U2
Maybe Bono Vox ripped off his looks lol
Ha ha
Vanian looking his very best.
Who's the guy on keyboard?
Thanks!!
Incorrect. Bono looks like Vanian.
Well...,h-mm... it would be incorrect again to say u r not right.
Please do not gas this band, they are only having fun !!
lol
