I really like this series, very informative! I already had the adapter so I'm using the canon 10-18mm and it works perfectly. Of course a little bit bulkier but found it used and can't beat that price. Plus you get that extra wider shot!
I have the nifty 50 and recently bought the 22mm efm because I wanted a sharp lens that wasn't as tight as the 50mm. I just noticed the 22mm says macro 0.15m/0.49ft on the lens. Hmm. Didn't you do a review on the 16mm?
Todd this series is THE BEST M50 teaching series I have seen (and I've seen some great ones). I suggest that you post the links to all of the videos in the series in the descriptions so that viewers can quickly find the next one and go watch it.
Enjoying this series. For vlogging I mostly use the 11-22mm, but also have the kit lens , EFM 22mm and awaiting for my new sigma 16mm to arrive. (I’m a sucker for new kit). I’ve also recently upgraded from iMovie to Final Cut Pro, subscribed time Artlist and looking to bring my UA-cam channel to the next level. Keep up the great work.
Stumbled upon your channel yesterday and I have to say you are a very good teacher! I was waiting for the mark II but ended up buying the original m50. Confident I won’t be disappointed.
Glad there are people like you showing that the m50 is totally capable of quality video. Been using mine for music videos and it works great. I totally bought the sigma 16 because of your video on it.
@@mashudunetshiavha9226 hey! I loved it but I actually switched to the fuji system. The only video on my channel I did with it was the first Dire music video. It worked flawlessly though. Very cool character with that lens and amazing autofocus
I am so impressed with your channel. First your thumbnails are so elegant. And, I should’ve seen these M50 videos three years ago. Now I have some shopping to do. 😅Anyway, thank you very much - you’re terrific. No nonsense. Keep going.
Todd. Your videos are really great. I haven't seen such detailed videos with lot of info and the info that really helps. You are doing great. Keep going.👍👍👍👍
I love this series; it's very informative! I picked this camera primarily for its lightweight design. What about wide-angle lenses for travel videos and landscape pictures?
Just watched this one. I haven't bought a new lens yet. But I am finally starting to see limits of my kit lens. Yesterday I was shooting a video for a friend. My kit lens just couldn't get wide enough to shoot overhead. And I had my stand as high as it could go. Normally, this isn't a problem but as I use my camera more, I'm growing out of the kit lens. Which is a cool thing.
Looking to do UA-cam videos more often and I’m a real estate agent, so I want to learn how to take decent pics also. I got the M50 thinking I would get the good depth of field out of the box, I was wrong. Did some research then came across your page and pulled the trigger on the Sigma (well told my girl that this lens was the only thing I wanted for my bday). It just came in and it love! Appreciate your videos!
You are the reason why I have the Sigma 16mm 1.4 as you suggested it to me because it was good for low light! So i went by your ad link and bought it and man, wow wow wow Its my favorite lens for indoor filming. But would love to know more about outside lenses with IS. Great film as always my friend!
The quality of your videos is just outstanding. I do enjoy this content and it helps me being more "pro" with my attempts to YouTubing :) Thank you! I'm mostly shooting with EF-M 22mm :)
So far, the m50 has been terrific. I bought it to photo my two sons journey through high school. 22mm ef-m for theatre headshots and prom photos. 55-200mm ef-m for the lacrosse field and basketball court. 15-45mm for everything else. This kit has been adequate which means there hasn’t been much pressure to buy another lens. That being said, it isn’t obvious which direction to go from here.. wether I invest in more ef-m lenses or an adapter and ef lenses. A fast prime like the Sigma 16mm would be soupah but an EF telephoto with more reach would be welcome as well. Considering how much i like to research products this is a delightful dilemma.
I’m really enjoying this series. I bought the EFS 35mm for macro. It also has the ring light. Comes in handy when in shade. I don’t video much, but have done a little with the macro. Have had the 10-18 for quite a while for landscapes on tripod, and recently bought the speed booster but haven’t used it much yet. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Seeing good results with EF-M 22mm f 2.0 for talking head video. And getting some good B Roll, portraits and low light photos with Viltrox Speed-booster + EF 50mm.
Great series ... I have 2xm50 and 1x m6ii , love the lens flexibility and oddly fir me, I’m enjoying 4k crop using speed booster :) , pairing With 24-105 ef stm lenses on m50 and m6ii and my third M using primes mostly :) , multi cam video shots
I am just trying out shooting talking head videos with my Sigma 56mm. It is a little tricky, but it does look really interesting... and the bokeh is just awesome
Thanks os much for this! It was super helpful, especially because I had no idea where the enable shutter button function was in the menu and I needed to know for one of my lens's. I have the 33mm from Viltrox, and 7Artisans macro lens. I love them both except for the focus problem on the viltrox.
Please make a video about the complete premiere pro tutorial, color correction, and color grading ad a separate video, will contribute without skipping, thx
Todd, first of all your videos are excellent. I have the M50 and want to use it as a backup to do documentary style interviews. What is your favorite lens for that task? Thanks.
Todd! You're fantastically informative! :) Which lens would you recommend in a small studio setting covering my full height and the length of a Yoga mat for live streaming ( no post editing! ) using the Canon M50 Mark II kit with the EF M15-45mm lens...Id really like a 'beautiful' look to the video' much like what I see in your videos unlike the harshness of the Standard setting. I'm working with dark tones only; deep crimson, black and matte iron black. On the other hand...Ive now watched through your review on the Mark II in which Id like to ask, should I simply return the newly purchased Canon M50 Mark II and in exchange get the Canon M50? Does it have the capability to live stream? p.s. Im not a 'soccer mom'! Thank you for again another high quality review!
This is helpful, thank you! I am an artist who shoots overhead videos about two feet from the subject/table. Would the 11-22 mm lens be the best for my Canon M-50 Mark II? Thank you!
I switched from the m50 to a Nikon z50 because the evf is much nicer and the af is better. Overall really happy with both. I loved the 22mm efm pancake lens for video / photography on the m50. This was on my camera 90percent of the time due to size and convenience. The Nikon lacks the lens selection of the m50 but with adapters I survive. The upcoming m50mk2 may be the vlogging camera to get
Great video. I want to buy a Canon M50 to start shopping photos and video's of cars. What do You think about Canon 22mm f/2 instead of Sigma 16mm f/1.4? What lenses would You recommend for that kind od use?
The 22 is a good lens. Solid choice if you're looking for that standard 35mm look. I didn't include the 22 in this video because I think the Sigma 16mm and Canon 32mm are stronger lenses. I like the wide angle of the Sigma 16, and its DOF is beautiful at f/1.4. Canon 32mm is also great at f/1.4. I also happen to prefer 50mm on full frame (over 35mm), so the Canon 32mm is perfect for that (it looks like 50mm). They just have a little more drama and punch than the Canon 22mm.
I was good to see Your video. You compared much more lenses then others do. I'm waiting for Your next video's. As I'm starting my story with photography and video I think that I need to check what is best for me. But I'm taking into consideration the Sigma 16mm.
I have just purchased the Canon M50 Mk ii and I love it! What lens would you recommend for product review videos? Would the kit lens be sufficient? I am hosting the videos with a friend and we will be reviewing airsoft guns and equipment. We may also visit some airsoft sites to do video tours also. We will have lighting and backdrops for the reviews so we will both be in the shot, will also be filming some b roll aswell. Any advice will be greatly appreciated 😁
Currently only have the kit 15-45 and 11-22. Love the wide lense, but I need to get a B roll lense. I saw you didn't recommend the prime 22mm, was there a specific reason? Just curious. Thx.
Hi, thanks for the video! I have this camera and it came with a 15-45 mum lens. I film UA-cam speaking videos in a small studio with a key light and a back rgb light. Should I use the lens or use it without for my videos? Thanks x
I am following your tutorials here on this camera, I have a specific use for this camera or more like I need to use this camera for something specific. I plan to use this camera to record 4k video while I am painting small miniatures being held in my hands, I plan to mount the camera on my right hand side slightly over my shoulder on my left hand side since I am right handed. I would like your input on two things, best lens that can autofocus in and out quite fast on this body and its sharp so we can see the details of the miniatures in my hands. I was planning to shoot in 4k just so I can crop the video to 1080p and zoom in so I don't loose much detail. But I am curious to know what you think about that? I need to have the camera somewhat away from my head or body so I don't bump it while leaning in and out or turning in my chair, so a lense that can somewhat zoom in would probably be best
Your group of videos have been very good thank you. I want one lense for filming in the sun in Spain. I want one lense only to give me a wide angle to capture beaches or towns that I shoot in. I also use the iPhone 13 pro max. Thanks Barry Spain 🇪🇸
Thanks again for a great video. I'm now torn between the 250d and M50. I know you can get adapters but the M50 appears to have better options for UA-camrs. Which lens was this video shot on out of interest?
Hello Todd! Great video and need some guidance. I have M50 with 22mm + 18-150mm kit lenses. I'm doing a "action-comedy" no fancy shots. Any lens I should add for maximal coverage when filming or will they do the work just fine?
I have canon M50, I am doing on line classes for painting art. The camera should focus on my hand while painting. I made the set up as you have recommended but I am still not satisfied with Video quality. May be I need to change the Lenses, which lenses is the best for this purpose?
Hi Todd, something I would like to ask you, not something about this video, but I will appreciate your thoughts about m6 mark ii, eos rp for only macro photography. Thanks in advance.

Sigma 16mm
I am using the 15-45 during the day and the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 for night-time street scenes

This video applies to Canons M6 mark ii as well ?
Do you have any recommendations for photography lens?
Is the nifty fifty also a good lens for the m50?
You did not talk about Canon EF-M 22mm f/2 STM Lens. Other bloggers talked a lot about this lens and recommended it.
What lens would you recommend for all situations? low light, focal length...etc
Thank you for this video! Do I get this right, that with the Neewer 35mm F1.7 lenses is no adapter for the Canon Eos M5 needed?
yes :) You do not need an adapter.
Hi Todd, something I would like to ask you, not something about this video, but I will appreciate your thoughts about m6 mark ii, eos rp for only macro photography. Thanks in advance.
What about the picture quality while using adapter to use EF lens ? Plz explain... Thanks in advance..
I shoot car reviews and I want to know what is the best lens for it. Thank you
I was going to skip over video 2. Glad I didn’t.

I use M50 with sigma 17-50 f2 with adapter
are you using the EF-M 11-22mm to shoot this vlog ?
