Those wheels look more like something off a 50cc petrol scooter, the rolling resistance on them must be quite high compared to normal pedal bike tyres, which would make them less efficient on the ol' leg power... :S
e-bikes - too heavy, too expensive - still. Mine is around the same weight but half the price with suspension front and back. Battery capacity is greater and its a 3 year old model.

imo, small combustion engine in bikes is way to go. £ for £ they they are a better option than battery ebikes.
In the UK though that makes it a motorised vehicle which require insurance, vehicle excise duty, and an appropriate license to ride.
Are you still working with Robinson labs on the webasto controller?
I haven't had any contact with RobinsonLabs in a long time now.
