    Hheeeyyy. From a Pilipino, Adobo is just sautèd onion (I prefer red) and 4-6 garlic crushed, 1/2 cup of soy sauce to 1/3 cup of vinegar, a cup of water, and 1/2 tsp of ground pepper. All of which you have to cook in a pan until flavors have "combined" for 4-5 mins. This is the base of any meat and/or veggies you want (which you have to sautè with the garlic and onion). It's our go-to lazy recipe. 😊😊

    Blimey, I've just been reading these comments which I dont usually do because I just like to enjoy the vlogs which I do and this one was no exception. So as an older women I'm shocked how nasty some people are. For goodness sake girls just enjoy this lovely batch cooking vlog and stop focusing on showering!! Remember that some folk who dont have running water in third world countries would be shocked at how much water we waste on so called water sweatening our bodies when they dont have enough for drinking. Its a lovely vlog im looking forward to trying the recipes you do a great job and youre a lovely family. Wish you were my grandaughter id be proud. Xx

      Tina Mcloughlin I’m with you Tina, some of the girls on here think they’re back at school 😂 it’s nobody’s else business how often Rhiannon showers, honestly! To make her feel she needs to justify her hygiene routines is so so silly. As you say they are a lovely sweet family and a joy to watch ☺️

    I throw the offcuts of onions (skins included!), carrots, celery, tomatoes, and mushrooms in a gallon freezer bag in the freezer, and when it's full, I dump it into a pot or pressure cooker, fill with water until the veggies are covered, add half a dozen peppercorns, a few fresh cloves of garlic, and if I have it a spoon of some miso paste, and then I cook 45 mins in the instant pot or a couple of hours on the stovetop and it's AMAZING!! Pour the cooled broth in large silicone ice cube trays (min makes 1/2 cup cubes) and add them instead of water for making rice, hydrating and cooking beans, soups, curries, for most occasions the recipe calls for water.
    Search online for A-Z list of vegetables to include or exclude from vegetable stock or broth to avoid the ones that cause bitter flavors (like cabbage, broccoli).

    Hi Rhiannon, the most environmentally friendly thing you can do is buy 2nd hand (in relation to the Tupperware, but relates to everything) or use what you already have! Have you thought about saving the pots that the curry you buy comes in? That would be a perfect portion size for one 😁

  • @yvonnechassar9662

    Glad to see you trying the 'freezing the off cuts' tip! :) (remember you can also freeze veg that are a bit off! Doesn't effect the end result if the veg are soft) Its honestly a great thing! Saves having to buy whole veg just to boil in a stock. I like to add cloves, bay leaves, a few pepper corns and a bit of salt and pepper to the mix. Rule of thumb, normally, is just add enough water to cover the vegetables plus about an inch or so to boil the veg. Keep on a rapid boil for a good hour then turn down to a rolling boil for a further 2 hours. ((Same goes if you are boiling bones etc. if your not vegetarian/vegan))

    For soup the easiest way to store and freeze it is by using reusable zip lock style bags you have, put it in it and lay it flat so it turns into a little slab! Then if you do multiple portions you can just break the slab in half! Saves space in the freezer too and it’s great for other things like mash and the curry! ☺️

    For storage pyrex or ikea glass storage containers are good because then you can put them from freezer/defrosted to oven without needing to put them in a different container. They are much heavier than plastic ones but I use them because I find plastic takes on the colour and smell of whatever you put in it so they never really go clean again, so I prefer them :)

  • @DontPanicLaugh
    @DontPanicLaugh 5 років тому +3

    The chipotle sauce works good for a replacement to the adobo sauce. There's Mexican adobo and Filipino adobo, but since you're making tortilla soup you'll be using the Mexican flavors. A lot of our chipotle are in adobo sauce, so it should still be similar flavors for you.
    Oh and I would suggest using corn tortillas. It will have a better and different texture than wheat.

So started to meal plan as I’m doing an online shop and stick the meals for the week on the fridge.. I normally have my few same staples every week and then I’ll look on Pinterest for new recipes to use up things in my cupboards! can I ask, why don't you shower at the gym/after your workouts? A quick cold shower after your workout wouldn't take that long? confused 🙈 I hope this isn't rude

      There aren’t showers at the place I go to regularly for pilates and with spin (which I’ve done one since last june 😂) they do have showers but I hate showering when I’m still hot as I think it’s the opposite to refreshing, I like to cool down first. I did used to always shower after spin last year when I was doing it regularly, either at the gym if I was going somewhere or I’d walk home then shower. This day for example, I got home, I wasn’t going anywhere or seeing anyone, I felt comfortable keeping what I had on and honestly didn’t want to think about finding another outfit I felt happy in to vlog, so carried on with my day and showered before bed 😅

    It really isn’t complicated. You put the trash into the appropriate container for disposal. I’m in my forties. Paper was disaster at the store. Items going through the bottom. We would walk home when little with mom and it was hard when all the things she bought ended up in the sidewalk. Plastic bags were life changing. Also less trash, paper is bulky. Which was good cause our house as a child was 1/3 the size of mine and had more people living there. Plastic bags had more uses. I use canvas mostly cause you can fit 2-3 times more in the bags and it saves on trips into the house from the car. Its practical. It’s a shame the plastic bags here can’t go into the bins that are collected weekly in front of the house. They can only be taken to the store and sometimes they are over full. And right by the entrance might be blown down the road. For the first ten years of recycling there was never so much rubbish blown all over our lawn on trash day. It’s why people hated to recycle. There used to be open bins and quite small. Windy, rain, snow.. once they put a lid on it and made it closer to the size of the regular trash toter it was much better. Maybe 4 times a year does something fly out of the thing. If people presented these ideas practically instead of being alarmists there would be more people doing those sorts of things. I’m sad you had to explain the carrot packaging to your audience. Generational thing but what I don’t understand about those younger than me is why if there is such worry over oil do they travel all the time especially by plane? They are designing neighborhoods where more than half kids of elementary school age are over two miles away from the school and need car or bus as well. And the is no regular public bus service in these areas. They are also more likely to own cars for every person over the age of 16 living in the home and boats and jet ski, etc.. With all the technology you’d think less people would need to go to the office. You have a nice channel. Enjoying the shopping, cooking, holiday, house transformation..

    Plastic zip lock bags gallon or quart size for stuff in the freezer. You won’t have wasted space which also leads to freezer burn. It will form fit the bag. More will fit in freezer. It has to be disposable for food safety. It is a risk to clean the bag and reuse.

    Have you heard of WayCap? It’s a company that makes reusable stainless steal coffeecups for Nespresso machines! It’s not only great for the planet, but you have so much more freedom of flavours! I know you’ll love it! 💚 Hugs from Belgium

      I have! We ended up not buying them after reading reviews and decided to just get ones that go straight into our home compost but they’re a great alternative for sure 🌱

    Love your vlogs, and a massive fan of batch cooking. Makes life so much easier! Just wondering why you wash your hair when you're not in the shower? I've got curly hair and loosing the curls slowly, so looking at changing my hair care routine!

      Our shower head needs replacing so I got into the habit of washing my hair over the bath (like I used to in my old flat and growing up at home) and it’s quicker. Now I’m used to doing it this way, I just forget to fix the shower 😆

      Rhiannon Ashlee Vlogs everyone takes baths then? Even Doug?

    • @RhiannonAshleeVlogs
      @RhiannonAshleeVlogs  5 років тому

      No! We do have baths but mostly showers, I just stand up with the detachable shower head (like I always have done with showers as I don’t need to wash my hair as often as I shower) and Doug puts it on the wash with the shower attachment. He says is works perfectly but I don’t fancy trying to wash my hair that way.

    wait, you did all this in just one day?? how long are the hours in your day? AND spinning class. you ace! I've got a question about your freezing system. I see you use mostly tupperware (or glass jars but those I know can go in the microwave). How do you do to defrost the food in tupperwares? pop them too in the microwave to melt/heat it just before eating? or leave them a few hours outside the freezer? is there microwave safe tupperware and I'm not aware of it?! I usually use ceramic or glass dishes and similar to keep food in the freezer, that afterwards can easily go in the microwave, but they are quite a pain, take up too much space, are heavy, etc. Thank you!

      And I was worried I needed more recipes!! Glad I stuck with those four 😂 the Tupperware we have is microwave safe so I either use the defrost setting on the microwave or if I’m organised I’ll pop it in the fridge the night before to defrost slowly x

    Those little reusable bags (that had the ice cubes of herbs and stuff) look really great for freezing, do you have a link for those?
