ALL My Sun Stressed HOYAS

- There are so many things to love about hoyas and one of those things is how they could sun stress so gorgeously. I don't get a lot of natural light in my home so I grow all my hoyas under growlights. Each hoya has its specific requirement for light, too. This is something I think we have to just pay close attention to and adjust according to what the plant is telling us. I have read that sun stressing will not damage the plant but I also wonder if it slows down its growth. Regardless of the case, these blushing hoyas are getting the most light and most of them are looking so beautiful.
*I have used two different mars hydro grow lights in the past two years and found that they work equally well in sun stressing hoyas. Mars Hydro has sent me products to try out and talk about in my videos in the past two years and I have thoroughly enjoyed their products and working with them. omg please do these videos more often, I could watch this for hours. I don't even mind if it's just the same 20 plants over and over. I think sun stressed hoyas are my biggest plant weakness. My new(ish) heuschkeliana pink from the feathered serpent is sunstressing beautifully, but also putting out new growth consistently, in case that helps!

The rabbit fence idea came from Doug Chamberlain and if you want to see how he makes them, he has a video on his channel. (I would get the fencing at Lowes or Home Depot....way cheaper than Amazon).

I live in Ontario! I had a doctors appointment in Ottawa a few days ago and I stopped by this cute plant shop I happened to spot after leaving the hospital and I found a Hindus rope Hoya, ficus shivereana moonshine and syngonium confetti 😍😍 they had more hoyas I wanted but I didn’t have enough money to get anything else 😭😭😭😭😭🥰

I enjoyed all your sun stressed hoyas! You got beautiful collection! Sun stressed hoyas are my favourite too. I used to have sunrise and another one too but I lost them due to root rot. Thanks for sharing and happy growing. Are you going to film the rabbit fence trellis ?

I've been looking for that rabbit fencing but haven't been able to find the type with the plastic coating. I'm in Canada as well and in my local hardware stores they only have the bare metal type. I use pon so the bare metal would rust 👎

You can buy 8 AWG copper wire by the foot at Lowe's or Home Depot. You can make your own trellises for your plants.
Lata Iskandar is too cute as a trio of leaves. It’s like a mama and papa leaf had a baby leaf. It’s cute!

For Christmas I'm going to be getting the spider farmer 300 light..I'm going w the 300, instead of the 600, bc they are pricey...I'm excited to be getting it tho..I'm going to put it above my makeup table that way I can sit and do my makeup ,,but also style my makeup table w a few plants...So a 2 in one..

Beautiful Hoyas!!! My sunrise is small, bought her that way. She had new growth points but drops some of the new leaves. I can't figure her out. Would moving her out side promote healthy growth?

Hey Amy I think Hoya Rebecca it's one of the parents of hoya sunrise. I think it's Hoya obsuca+Rebecca= sunrise.
I have a Hoya tequila sunrise and I love it but it's only a 3 leave as of right now. I hope it gets as beautiful as yours

I feel I have been absent for some time when last I watched you were using chunky mix of coir and perlite and I am watching and all your beauties are in pon .

Hi Sam! Yes I am growing and rooting many of my hoyas in pon. I actually changed recently since having such good result rooting hoya cuttings and I had to re root so many of my new imports and new cuttings.
It's a DIY pon with equal parts zeolite, black lava rock, orchiata and chunky perlite. For cuttings with no roots, I try to keep moist or have reservoir of water. For rooted plants I just water as I would in soil :)

My lacunosa did the same thing with me when I first got it so I pull it away from the light and it started growing. I realized it doesn't like alot of light

I find sunstressed hoya absolutely beautiful but I also feel like it's a cruel thing to do to plants. I imagine me being put out in continuous extreme light and heat for 14 to 16 hours a day, every day. I also think it weakens them so they would succumb to mites and other bugs easier. Just my thoughts on sunstresssing.

I purchased a ecliptic black ,but it came w root rot..So I cut the roots off an trying to reroot it..Figures crossed

It was not doing well so I moved to spaghnummoss and it really loved it but lately I chopped the roots to grow it in pon, it's still working on new roots. Not sure if it'll like it as much. I grow it in the grow tent!
I believe lata iskandar and peninsularis are the same species.

Hi! i am using the MARS HYDRO TSW 2000 FULL SPECTRUM LED GROW LIGHT for most of my sun stressed hoyas. I keep hoyas that don't like as intense light further away from the light!
How do you know which hoya can sunstress?
so before i buy a hoya I always look it up on google image and instagram and read a little bit about it. And the images will let me know if they are capable of sunstressing!

What’s the difference between the sunrise& the tequila sunrise? I recently purchased a sunrise thinking they were the same thing🙈omg
They are both beautiful! And tan gorgeously! Tequila sunrise is much bigger and veinier. Sunrise is so so gorgeous! Definitely need both 😆😆😆
