Few months ago, China and South Korea signed FTA which will help Korean exports to China immensely e.g. without tariffs, Korean cars to China can save 22% cost.. Another positive data for countries trading with China. It is estimated that China's middle-class population will reach 500 - 800 millions in 2020 to 2025. China will become world's largest consumer market in near future.

The reasons why we have still not developed are widespread corruption, too much socialism and reservation in every sector. We need to find a balance between socialism and capitalism just like Korea did, and curb the rampant corruption from the system. Also the people of Korea are very patriotic as seen from their volunteered contribution to National gold campaign. Such schemes won't work in our country as people lack faith in the government because of the rampant corruption.

I'm sorry but India can never be a Korea, not even a China. Its the same reason why Italy can never be Germany or why Greece can never be Netherlands. Geography and climate affects culture and attitudes.
Its not a surprise why South Asian countries aren't as dynamic as East Asian countries although their people may be just as hardworking. Like Italians or Greeks in Europe, Indians don't like to follow rules, just look at the roads as an example. Another more important example is tax avoidance. Just how many percent of the population pay taxes?
The keyword here is discipline, not hardwork and the only disciplined outfit that I can find in India is the military. RSS and Modi probably have a dream of transforming India like Japan or the other East Asian economies, that's through large-scale low-end manufacturing but its gonna be very difficult.

      Morocco CAN.
      Any country can.
If I was a Moroccan and would want to grow the economy, I would consider fishing outside of the country. The beautiful thing about fishery is that you don't have to raise ,feed or take care of them. All you need is huge fishing boats and hardworkiing fishermen who care about other people. Also,Morocco is much larger than South Korea and North Korea combined. That means you can grow fresh fruits and vegetables organically and raise cattles such as Cows,Chickens and Goats that will give you milk, cheese, yogurt and butter. Cherish and Love the land where people dwell and consider honest city planning and develop the cities and small towns respecing the local economy.
That is all. Hardwork always pays.

President Lee Myung Bak states in his biography: "at the root of every success lie extreme perseverance and uncompromising principles.... All we had back then were a desperate yearning to live a better life and a fierce sense of urgency".
The South Korean people have demonstrated awe-inspiring discipline, the will to sacrifice for the sake of national prosperity, and the sheer determination to achieve success. Their success nowadays is the reflection of these praiseworthy qualities that I am cultivating for my own personal development.

Its disheartening to realized that Philippines back in the 60's right at the time when Korea started its economic reform is miles away, more improved in terms of economic prowess - even far advanced than singapore. Although Marcos era was pretty much an authoritatian and dictatorian governmen, we can't discount that fact that its economic power and capability is huge. It provided a really strong backbone for the Philippine nation to thrive as a developing nation. It was a nation who have sustained its economic prowess could supposedly become a strong economic powerhouse in south east asia. Then Edsa revolution comes in and the next government after that brought the philippines economic capabilty spiraling down. While Korea are developing its steel industry, Aquino government in the philippines on the other hand were busy enacting its vendetta by going against the project the marcos regime have started. The bataan nuclear power plant which supposedly going to provide a boost on electrical power grid of the country and the steel industry that was given less support which supposedly going to provide the building blocks of industry in this country while giving back control to oligarch family the water, electrical, and media to the control of few people. Instead of supporting established businesses at that time and allowed them to continue most businesses who flourished during the marcos regime were crackdown as a result those businesses went bankrupt and forced to shut down and flee. 1987 institution discourages 100% foreign business ownership as a result it discourages foreign investors and oligarchy and monopoly of industries in the philippines became prevalant as less and less competition. For decades, there is a duopoly of telecommunication industry as a result telecommunication infrastructure is inadequate, service is not good, and internet speed is slow in comparison to south korea and other nation, not until the recent political will of the president duterte came in the 3rd telco. Aquino and Ramos Government was i believe the cause of its downturn. Erap government was just a blimp and a joke. I guess the good thing happened to that era was it being a short lived power giving and pave the way of the Arroyo government. Arroyo government did something we can really be thankful for as why Philippines started to be back on track in its economic development. Although, her vat policy was controversial it was a bitter pill she has to swallow or the country has to swallow along with other economic reforms she had to implement as not only it shielded the country during the 2008 economic crash but it pave the way for industries to develop and continue a rising trend of economic growth later on PNoy was so proud about but he did not actually do anything. It was arroyo who laid the groundwork and in a way it was his administration who reap what arroyo government had sow. Under the Pduterte admin, his build build build program will again propel the nation for economic boom as infrastructure is needed to further allow the nation to be great again - but despite of strong political will and achievements the people who supported behing aquino, ramos, and pnoy are still trying to discredit of what the current president have done and a lot of ridiculous issues despite of the good thing it has done. Issues that is very petty from the presidents blabber mouth to incompetence of its subordinates as if those other people are not incompetent themselves. If not because of covid, the current administration may have able to accomplish so much more than i can say about aquino, ramos, and pnoy combined. The economic growth of the nation is dependent on the character of the people it govern with. This really do hold true down to this day. If only the people voted for the right person to lead the nation and chooses smartly to put politician in key position this nation have all the ability and capability to build a much better economy like south korea.

    2.working hard. this is basic
    3. free of religion-i know most countries have religious problem but our government learned from American government everything like politics administrations. so we selected religion free like America.

When looking at the process of economic development in Korea,
which is often referred to as ‘the miracle of the Han River,’
the most crucial factor that led to economic success was the
establishment of the second Five-Year Economic Development
Plan (1967-1971). When it comes to Korea’s economic
relationship with Japan after diplomatic normalization in 1965,
as many experts have pointed out, it is clear that Japan played
an important role in triggering Korea’s compressed economic
development through Japan’s ODA to Korea, trade expansion,
and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) by Japanese firms.
When Seoul and Tokyo signed the Treaty on Basic Relations
between the Republic of Korea (ROK) and Japan, it was agreed
that the Japanese government would provide financial aid to
Korea including grant aid of $300 million, loan aid of $200
million, and commercial loans of $300 million. The Korean
government decided to invest $120 million out of $500 million
(combined grant loan and loan aid) into the construction of
Pohang Steelworks which was Korea’s leading steel maker.
In this process Japanese steel makers such as Yawata Steel

It was a big question mark for me how SK is excelling in almost everything now: phones/technology, skin care/make up, entertainment, cars...and a lot more. Maybe because they are not complacent for what they have achieved rather they continue to improve and innovate. They put excellence in what they do Their products are of good quality... they're after the quality not just quantity. i seldom hear fake products.. sometimes when it's a fake korean products, they are made from China. Also, their artists, before they launch them they go through a long and heavy training. Even their phones, they keep on innovating and never gets complacent, unlike Nokia that was once the leader in phone innovation. Their love and respect for their country plays a big role too. Regardless how popular they are, all korean men are required to go through military training; this foster discipline and nationalism. They love and support their own but at the same time they are open to what they can learn from other countries and go beyond what they learn. Most of all, i think, there are less corrupt public officials in SK.

Korea has been working very hard for decades. They deserve the success to-day.
Few months ago, China and South Korea signed FTA which will help Korean exports to China immensely e.g. without the tariffs, Korean cars to China can save 22% cost.. Another positive data for countries like Korea trading with China. It is estimated that China's middle-class population will reach 500 - 800 millions in 2020 to 2025. Korea will rocket as close neighbor China become world's largest consumer market.

Many parts of our economy now rely on China. Also in the aspect of culture exports including Kpop. Tourists visiting our country from China are also very large. We Koreans surely know and are amazed how fast China is growing. Hope we can cooperate in many ways in the future as well just like we were in the past !

UNITED KOREA Agreed. The pan-Asia-Europe super-rail project plan can bring wonder and fortune to many Asian and European countries in the future. Wish world's economy can be elevated to next level. Also the world society will be more friendly, peaceful and prosperous.

it is very interesting theory that Korean companies only received help from other non companies when developing their technology and emerging as one of the major powers. Japanese companies received a lot of help from Europe when developing cars. What about now? Apple iphones are using parts from Samsung and Lg and other Japanese companies. We do help each other!! That's the truth!

Samsung is the largest foreign investor in the US. While TSMC making billions from the US, they didn't invest $1 into the US until they caused chip shortage by sending their shipment to China and Japan first using Chinese middleman. While Samsung invested tens of billions building chip factory in Austin, Texas since 1996 with hiring 20,000 employees in the US.

Education part is correct. I remember when i was young my family lived in basement room so we even cannot see the sun much, and that age Korea seoul was not much developed so when rain was falling our room was sinked by water sometimes. But i remember even my father's income was only 240Dollors per month, i could well educated by their's sacrifice. Sometimes when i feel life is hard, i always remember my youth day, and get a confidence that hardtimes could be overcomed.

Thank you Mr. Park for changing our nation. You brought Korea out of crippling poverty and rampant corruption to one of the wealthiest nations in Asia and in the world. People may accuse you for human rights abuses today but the older generations, who lived through post war hell, never forgot your contributions to our country and still regard you as the best president in ROK history.

Park Chung Hee used Japanese compensation money to boost Korea's economy.

    • @andrewcho9779
      @andrewcho9779 10 років тому +4

AkoSiJhioh Yes he did use Japanese money but Japan was not the only country that helped Korea prosper. He got tons of shit from the Korean public for that. I don't blame him though since the US withdrew foreign aid and put Korea in a very desperate situation. Japan was only a small part of the aid while West Germany and the US (Vietnam War) made much more significant contributions to the Korean economy and strengthened Korea against the commies up North
PS: Just because Japan partially contributed to Korean development does not give atonement for the crimes it has committed in the Korean peninsula during WW2

    • @AkoSiJhioh
      @AkoSiJhioh 10 років тому +2

Andrew Cho Japan's intent was to compensate, not help develop Korea. I wish Japan and Korea can just get along. While the governments fight, let's help the other country's citizens prosper and just love. Spread the loooove. luuuvvv
