The new Dark Tranquility album is amazing. Just saw them live at Summer Breeze, where they played until after midnight when the album was actually released. They started playing a couple of songs from the new one live, and it was awesome.
Thanks for the video sister! I absolutely loved the new Dark Tranquility album. Further prove that there a top tier melodeath band 👍 also ill be checking out the Extinction AD & Thermality albums 🤘
First of all I hope you had a good holiday and I am glad you're back. I love all the dark tranquility albums including the recent one. Some of the bands that I just have come across recently are atmospheric black metal band called grima and another Black metal band called gaerea also planning on checking out Extinction AD and Thermality.
Thanks, as always, Lindsay. I remember loving "Citadel" when the original version came out (possibly their strongest release, and a contender for best album of 2014, IMO), so I'm really interested to discover how it has changed. I've heard and liked a couple of the DT tracks already, intrigued by the other albums.
The new Extinction A.D. album is a real fun one, I like it a lot. There's a guest from Matt Heafy but, honestly, it's not like he takes the entire spotlight and in fact, had it not been mentioned, I wouldn't have known he was there. Dark Tranquility...I tried three times to get into it, but I just cannot do it. There is something about it that stops any momentum that I had to run headfirst into the track list, stop, and just move on from it. Great video and, honestly, you don't have any reason to owe anyone an explanation if you don't do something because you had other things going on.
@6:55 I completely disagree too, DT and Insomnium, plus The Halo Effect keep melo-death alive, kicking and will watch live for a 6th, 3rd and 1st in 10 days, along with 2nd time Amon Amarth that their last 3 albums sound tired, but I hope live they will different... they will be performing in home soil in the capital of swedish woodcutters :D
Neo was one of the best shows i saw at graspop 2024. Try the new darktranquillity today and not get in to it. Check the other 2 albums. Good you are back , thanks!
Loved the shoutout you gave to Thermality because I really liked that album too even when I had to get used to the vocals a bit in the beginning. But that's probably also because they made the mistake of releasing their album in the same week DT released their new album, which means that I only listened to it once so far, but also that they have to compete with one of the best two voices in modern metal (the other one in my book being Tomi Joutsen from Amorphis). So I might have to give it another spin to appreciate it even better. I'm not quite sure If I'll give Endtime Signals the edge over Moments, because I really love that album to death. But it's getting really close to it with every new spin so we'll see. But it's exactly what I needed this week (and probably the weeks to come if I am totally honest here, I'll probably miss out on quite a few records just because I can't stop listening to the new DT over and over again. Might get some competition from Simone Simmons' solo album Vermillion, but that would only make it even harder for everyone else ^^.
I have no argument at all with Dark Tranquility, Extinction A.D. and Thermality. They are all three great albums and I don't understand why some people do not like the new Dark Tranquility album. I am a huge fan of Ne Obliviscaris but since the release is a remastering of Citadel, there is another album and band that would be in my current top 4. Death League is a melodic death metal band from Greece and their debut album, Inferno, might be my favorite new release (it is between Death League and Thermality). BTW, I will be seeing Dark Tranquility at ProgPower USA in a couple of weeks. Dark Tranquility is one of the bands I am most looking forward to seeing, They are headlining the second day of the festival so should get a 2 hour set.
DT always tries to add some cool things to their albums yet sticks to their original sound, does it make sense? bty they're the most diverse band I've ever listened to, no doubt. if u don't believe check the comment section. almost everyone has their unique favorite DT album.
Paul Newman still number one? I'd rather be watching your salad dressing top tier. Anything good after check out?! Selling Justin's Lamborghini for the price of that last Sashimi receipt, anyone?! I don't know. Namastè.

I wasn't aware Ne Obliviscaris remastered Citadel, thanks for pointing it out, I love that band
Welcome back. Hope you had a blast on holiday!

When I listened to Dark Tranquility I was like yup that just soared into my top ten of the year

Dark Tranquility - I'm a big fan - spun this new one a few times now - totally agree with everything you said, certainly one of their best.
Speaking of Citadel, there's a hot demo out from US band Horrific Citadel 👌
Thanks, as always, Lindsay.

Great stuff!
Just came across your channel. What a great video with a in-depth review of the albums. Thanks
Thank you so much! 💜🤘🏻
