  • In today’s video I will be continuing my learning journey adding paper to epoxy resin. I love the effects which can be achieved with this technique and I’m determined to learn from my mistakes until I get it just right! Today I will be creating a woodland themed resin tray.
    Thank you for watching and helping me to INNOVATE, INVENT and INSPIRE.

    The closer we are to something (visually), the easier to see imperfections. Most art is appreciated from even a short distance away from it. (And, we are our own worst, or best 🤷🏼‍♀️, critics!!) I love this! I love the paper as well. I’m glad you decided to post this video despite your reservations about it.

    I absolutely love this! The dark spots on the paper makes me feel like you are looking at the fox through a light snowfall of fat, fluffy flakes lazily drifting down. If must be one of the earliest snows since there are still fall leaves framing the view. It’s one of those pieces of art, the more I view it the more I like it ❤

    Beautiful paper. The fox is gorgeous! I'm glad you are showing what can happen creating with paper. I have had the same issue with "water" marks from not sealing the paper. I hope this video saves someone that nightmare. I think the tray turned out lovely. It's a kind of moody feel to the Forrest. Your talent is amazing and I always learn something from each and every one of your videos. I love Sunday mornings when I get a new Lou video! Take care and THANK YOU😘

    I really love those! If you hadn't said anything I wouldn't have noticed anything wrong with the background on the tray. The fox is one of my favorite animals, so I am really loving him! The leaves on the tray look very realistic. I love those, too!

    It’s so dimensional. I really like it. I think you’re right about not noticing the background issue because of the style of the paper. You could back it with a tinted resin that matches most of the areas that bother you. That would blend it some. But I think it’s fine the way it is. Love the fox 🦊.

    I'm sorry you had such a stressful time of it - resin can be so fickle, even without the added stress of filming on top. I really love the stepped/layered look - reminds me a little of that stunning painted resin seascape diorama you made last year.

    Louise I just love your work. I use Duraclear Varnish by DecoArt to seal and use as a glue. I dries very clear. I even use it to mix micas and/glitter to paint on resin. Nadia from LiaDia Designs (Toronto based graphic artist) has many videos doing this technique if you or your patrons are interested. I’m from the State of Utah in the USA & eagerly awaiting your videos every week!

      @LouiseSingletonCreations  2 місяці тому +1

      Thank you Donna. Yes laminating is really good but for this application I think it would have been tricky. Firstly the fact that you need to leave a margin of the laminate around the edge and I also find that when I laminate big pieces the air bubbles struggle to escape so that’s why I avoided that this time.

    Such a beautiful result, don't worry about the blotches, they just underline the whimsyness - patience is important !!! 💚
    Because of the general hype I tried modpodge and I was REALLY disapointed;
    it doesn' work as a sealer for finished projects, because it stays sticky etc.
    Instead I use woodglue - surfaces are well protected and waterproof, paper becomes really sturdy !!! 🙂

    I think it looks gorgeous! I love the fox. I think your problem came in using PVA glue rather than Mod Podge or spray varnish. PVA glue contains water and we all know how much resin loves water! I think if you stick with the Mod Podge or spray varnish next time you should come out all right. Mod Podge is actually quite different than PVA it's got a completely different composition.
