In 1980 I lived in s. Korea. I know exactly the inlays you’re talking about. Your box is an awesome rendering of the beautiful inlayed black lacquer furniture. Bravo!
Beautiful! You are a true inspiration. I have a black lacquer story from my childhood too. My best friend was from Japan and when I admired the box she had in her bedroom she gave it to me! I don’t think her mother was happy about it but we were only five or six. I still have it. 🥹
Oh my goodness, Louise, you are absolutely amazing. I have been following you for years and all of your stuff is gorgeous and brilliant. This takes my breath away.!
Oh, I love that story about your Dad and the jewelry box! Would love to see it. 💕😊 Oh, my goodness, those shells from Laura...Exquisite! 😘 💕 That box is *gorgeous,* Louise! The lid decoration...mmm-waaah! 😘😍
My dad, who was in the army, purchased a beautiful musical jewellery box with the mother of pearl inlaid into the lid whilst he was away abroad in the late 50s or 60s. I still have it somewhere to this day, but th ballerina doesn't stay on when I open it now due to a little damage and age. I agree that against the black lacquered effect, it is gorgeous. I am totally in love with the one you have made. My mother's jewellery box is lined with red velvet. The workmanship they put into these beautiful boxes is awesome. I also still have a full pure silk pyjama set with fur and slippers in its own box from the same country the jewellery box came from. I think it is Japanese, but both my parents are sadly not with me anymore, so I am not sure exactly the origin it is originally from. I have downloaded this video because I love the box you made so much.
Stunning isn’t even close to how beautiful this is. Just amazing. Next time you should put a mirror in the lid, especially since you plan to recess it.
Louise, WOW! ❤ Absolutely gorgeous and I so loved that you shared that beautiful memory of when you were little. Hearing little things like that let's us connect with you more as an individual artist and I can so relate. My mother too had a beautiful jewellery box that I greatly admired when I was very young, then lucky enough to have been given it when I was a teenager when she upgraded hers. Your lid is absolutely stunning and yes, the shells are just beautiful aren't they! ❤❤
Oh my goodness Louise! This came out absolutely STUNNING 😍. My dad was in the Army and brought many beautiful trinkets from Korea and Japan. I loved you sharing those memories. ❤Gail
I can see that jewelry box. My dad was in the Korean War and bought a black jewelry box and matching photo album with the beautiful abalone shell design. I have the jewelry box and my brother the album. This turned out out gorgeous.
I know exactly what you meant..the abalone shell and others are so pretty. Stunning box! I like your out of the box projects as they are very inspiring!
Hi Louise love everything about this story, how you made it and how it turned 😍, wow what an order from Laura, love the shells, thanks for sharing ❤❤ xxx
Absolutely Stunningly Gorgeous ❤ Thank you so kindly for sharing your wonderful story and talent with us all ❤ Take great care and keep creating and smiling ❤❤
I absolutely love this! Such a beautiful little box! ❤ I could almost picture the little box you were describing that your mom has. My mother had something similar when I was a child. I was just as in love with it as you were with your mother’s.
The only thing I would have done in addition (if I thought of it before I finished the project 😜) would be to sand the top of the box and bottom of the lid on a piece of sandpaper on a flat surface. I think it would make the two pieces fit together better. But I love this! Thank you so much for your creativity!
Just gorgeous! I love abalone shells too, they are so beautiful on your ebony box. Your Laura’s Art Corner items are so pretty, you are going to have so much fun adding them in future pieces. I tried to shop on her site a while ago but, at that time she only excepted Pay Pal, which I don’t use. She definitely has great resin products. Thinking outside the box is one of the things I love about your channel. You did a wonderful job as usual.😊
What a Fab Idea, Louise! ❤ the colors and extra touches AND your way of thinking 'outside the box', pun intended😊. Can't wait to see the next seashell pieces vid!
Louise, the moment I saw your thumbnail I was thinking of Korean inlay and lacquer work.
Absolutely beautiful. Love, love the box. Thanks for showing us❤

😮❤
I'd have glued a mirror to the other side of the coaster. This is GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would have preferred you to add the metal corner’s ~ ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!
21:43 - if you had done that then you risk not having the cavity in the exact same spot as you had it on the bottom then it wouldn’t line up right.
