Fr! They could have cast Mike last year but passed him up, and we got the WORST season since Juan Pablo. I wish they had taken the leap last year, because even though it's good and v important now, it feels so hollow and fake as a gesture because of how much it took for them to finally do it.
@@KC-ep6sg I agree with u 100%. Mike would of been the perfect 1st black bachelor behind Wills Reid who was on Becca Kufrins season. I think he would of been the best&very deserving of it. I'd encourage you to listen to the Bachelor Party podcast episode on the Matt James Bachelor announcement. Rachel is the guest on the episode and discusses why the decision to make Matt the Bachelor is performative, reactionary, and deserves critique, while being a step in the right direction. There is more work to be done!
I don't think they're supper skinny.... They all seem normal sized. I think because obesity in the US is so high we all think bigger sized is normal when it's not. They all just have healthy bodies.
True... but you'd also have to find contestants the bachelor desires. Call me shallow, but I'm only attracted to certain body types. I think most people are.
@@huldatachiri9613 Preach! Tired of hearing people wanting to see more overweight/obese people on the screen to justify their refusal to take the proper measures towards a healthy lifestyle and size. These women dont look like they have eating disorders. They look like they take care of themselves 🙄
Wait- so I just noticed that the salmon jacket Dillon and Jed were wearing is different. It's a textured linen with peak lapels rather than notch. They are no longer part of the official brotherhood... though Jed's membership was questionable for other reasons.
And Matt’s was yet a third salmon jacket: at first I thought it was Tyler’s, but if you look closely you’ll see Matt’s has a buttonhole on the left lapel 🧐🤓😉
“all shapes, sizes, and races” will this finally be the season we see people who aren’t conventionally considered ‘hot’?! (probably not, but I can dream)
I recently watched the Mesnick season on Netflix and was struck by how much more "normal" a lot of the girls looked. Not in weight but just the way they looked in their pj's and casual wear. Way less made up!
We've seen him all around social media and he seems wonderful, but it would have been nice to see his character unfold on screen so we'd have a better rapport with him. Regardless, _ITS ABOUT TIME_ I appreciate that they're finally listening to their audience and taking action.
As a Bachelor and MCU fan it's fun for me to think that we had the Brad Womack (second time around) timeline that chugged along all the way until Jojo. A remarkable 10 season run! A new timeline was then created by going back in time and branching off Andi/Kaitlyn, with Nick's selection as Bachelor and that timeline only spawned Rachel. Another trip into the past then goes and branches off from Emily with the selection of Arie as the Bachelor - that stream having some legs by going as far as Pilot Pete. We now have Claire who branches off from Juan Pablo and that doesn't seem destined to go beyond just her and now there's a total reboot about to happen with the selection of Matt James (I'm gonna go ahead and not think of him as being from Claire's season). Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk about nothing other than nerding out 😁
If ABC had given us Mike when we asked for him instead of giving us the awful PP season then they wouldn’t have had to go out of their way to cast a Black bachelor during a pandemic & huge anti racism movement. The fact that they waited until NOW shows they were never intending on having another Black lead until they were basically forced to.
I loved Matt James ever since I saw all of the Quarantine Crew videos lol, and I love that he and TC have the ABC food tours charity! Also THE SALMON JACKET YESSSS
The fact that this show has been going on for so long and has NEVER had franchise leaders of damn near every ethnicity at least once is truly unacceptable.
Mike talked about his relationship with Demi Lovato too much, plus he asked Keke out in public which made her uncomfortable. So I kinda get where they're coming from, he probably wouldn't be able to keep his final pick a secret. Plus I've noticed producers don't like people who campaign for the role. Probably why Jason and Blake weren't picked from Becca's season.
@@Redandwhiteroses283 I personally disliked Colton, and rooted for Jason,so I personally don't care about campaigning. But I always felt like he was a wild card in comparison because of his time on bip.
Honestly they’re probably gonna be filming them at the same time because they’re so behind and they need to catch up on content. Wouldn’t be surprised. 🤷🏼♀️
Claire's season is tentatively set to begin filming in July, according to Lauren Zima, while Matt's season will probably be on the regular schedule of filming to start in September. Guess we're not gonna get a Paradise this year.
Pretty sure some men from Clare’s season are still going to promote their brand. For Matt’s season I hope they make the minimum age 25 ,but they’re probably going to sprinkle a few 22 years olds in there. 😒
THANK GOD!! I took a break during Peter's season. And honestly wondered if I'd ever watch again. But I have been follwing Matt for awhile, and he seems like the real deal!! So VERY HAPPY!!
I'm not disappointed but also would have loved to see Mike Johnson cast as The Bachelor as well. His smile is absolutely contagious and lights up the whole world when he flashes it!
Thank you for giving Rachel recognition!!! She's been huge in championing and advocating for diversity in the show, and not enough people online are giving her the credit she deserves
Coming from a 50-year-old white woman, my suggestion would be that the next Bachelor/Bachelorette be giving bios of the candidates that don't include any indicators of race or religion. Deep questions and some random fun questions. Let them choose who they would like to be on the show based on that. Maybe throw in a few random candidates for ratings. I think that this would give a more diverse selection. Different ethnicities, different sizes, different ages, etc... My actual opinion is that Hannah should have chosen Mike. The chemistry between them and the way they looked together, just felt right. Just a thought
When are people in the US finally date more outside their ethnicity so most kids are mixed and it won't matter all the time what you are but who. Which it should now already anyways. Not saying I don't see the diversity problem in the bachelor. I just hope it won't matter much some day soon.
I'm excited! While I agree that this is long overdue, it doesn't mean it isn't of course welcome. I hope they continue to acknowledge and make sincere efforts and progress.
Im so proud of Rachel and Matt, i knew they were pinning him for Bachelor ever since he was announced for Clare’s season. He is going to be great! I hope they cast diverse girls for his season though (also is it bad if im not really interested in seeing Clare’s season? I feel like ABC isn’t interested either)
That’s great that ABC heard the masses. I just hope he is really going to be serious, decisive and emotionally mature. The show has been missing real romance for a while . Hopefully his season brings it!
they need to keep doing that! having the next bachelor/bachelorette two seasons ahead so no one is there just to get their own season!!!! That will really help Clare FINALLY******** find someone.
Y'all had me thinking that Mike was talking trash about Demi or Keke based on your comments but come to find out he's just a huge flirt & ran his mouth about his fling with Demi. I think the REAL reason they didn't pick Mike for Bachelor is because he seems to have a tendency not just to flirt openly with women, but a tendency to fall for a girl really quickly & go all in on her. There wouldn't be a lot of tension or drama about "who he would pick" & "who he would be serious about" because he'd probably laser-focus on a girl within a couple of nights. The bulk of the show with him in it would be him really exploring his relationship with only one girl- a problem for a TV season focused on him. The other girls would just be.... around. If you look at it that way, it becomes evident why he was picked for Paradise- other people on the show could carry the drama, the intrigue, the will-they won't-they & if Mike did decide to be with a girl in Paradise, they'd still get the genuine love story with him with all the stuff that makes good reality TV. It also becomes evident why they chose Peter. His indecisiveness leans perfectly into the inherent drama of the Bachelor. We had no idea who he would pick.... even after he already picked. I'm saying that you shouldn't be surprised if Mike makes a return in Paradise, but he will likely never be picked for Bachelor. Mike genuinely seems like a nice guy- I get that we don't really KNOW reality TV stars, but he just seems like an easily enamored guy with a big mouth.
I think this is a great step but another model/ex-athlete? I wish we got more regular people because Matt seems a little clout chase-y from what I've seen so far. And if the production and casting is as bad as last season I don't know if I can watch it

Yes!
I can't find the source, but I definitely remember reading somewhere that Mike's personality was really different off-camera and the producers just didn't like him as a person. I think Mike seems like such a catch, but the fact that zero girls were into him in Paradise kind of put up a red flag for me. Maybe he's not that nice of a guy.
@@jammastrjess I really wanted Mike for bachelor, but he did always have this quality were he seemed almost a bit too smooth, a bit too perfect. Like he always said the right thing, was always the perfect gentleman, but I could never tell how sincere it was.
Yeah, I liked Mike so much until he started getting in the drama with Luke in Hannah's season🤷🏻♀️ he was my fave but he seemed a little jaded and immature when he got involved in the drama.
Jess Kohs he also has a controversy regarding a child and his last relationship I don’t remember the details, that’s why I wasn’t that into him, on the show he made it seem not that big a deal and no tabloids looked into It. (He mentions this on the show I’m believe, vaguely to Hannah.)
I was also turned off by the drama with Luke, I didn’t like Tyler much either bc of that until he proved himself later.
if you watch the bts video of him on the interview- he is just in his boxers lol
but its disappointing that it took so much for them to consider casting a non white dude and more diverse women
And that's its presented as them needing diversity than just picking an interesting man that wasn't white and with a cardboard personality.
My opinion he was super 🔥! The franchise only did it now cuz of what is going on in the U.S.A. now&they want to show they r being diverse. Not to mention out of all times, this will make next bachelor season ratings gold!
Kyleigh Caicedo Not sure about last year. But for next year. I really believe Mike was probably offered to be The Bachelor and declined. Very little way at This point Mike wouldn’t off had offers.
Pamela Nowacki I love Wills too, the franchise rly undervalues him!!
I’m finally old enough to apply for the show and I’m so happy it’s Matt❤️
I think that this shows us that something was probably wrong with Mike. I don’t know what, but I bet something was wrong behind the scenes.
They are all gay men, including Matt.
@@PATTY14700 sounds like ur gay lol
Maybe mike is currently seeing someone privately
XO VIVI he was actively campaigning for bachelor, so I’m not sure that’s the case (edit: tried to make my reply sounded less confrontational. Sometimes it’s hard to sound nice on the internet.)
I am thinking the same thing. He seemed perfect to so many, but maybe there's something we didnt see. Maybe he ain't as nice as his smile would lead us to believe. I am honestly pretty disappointed .
YOU DO NOT DISAPPOINT WITH THE GREASE 2 REFERENCE.
Stacy Moscotti This was awesome!
TRUE!!! I shrieked when I saw it. Loved that movie! 🌸❤️
you got it
Salmon jacket and the blue shirt though 🤦♀️ who styled this man?
Tyler.
👆🏽
Someone who loved Miami vice.
suyin harwood i like the jacket
Next we can tackle size diversity. Matt said "all shapes and sizes"!! It seems like the cast is always super skinny, let's mix it up a bit.
that would be great.....
My thoughts exactly..no more just instagram models
There was apparently two of them. One for the bigger guys and one for the smaller guys
You never know....anything's possible....
I would love to see some plus size women in the mix, I never feel well represented with these size 2 and below ladies they cast 😫
I feel like even if they did that he would send anyone who's not conventionally attractive home in week 1 & 2
They mean naturally skinny to very athletic. Maybe even a token plus size with an hourglass figure that gets eliminated in week 2 😂
I recently watched the Mesnick season on Netflix and was struck by how much more "normal" a lot of the girls looked. Not in weight but just the way they looked in their pj's and casual wear. Way less made up!
Maybe his comment about all shapes and sizes means we'll finally get some body diversity and women who aren't all size 2s!
I love that he is diverse lead and is from my home state North Carolina!
We've seen him all around social media and he seems wonderful, but it would have been nice to see his character unfold on screen so we'd have a better rapport with him.
Regardless, _ITS ABOUT TIME_
I appreciate that they're finally listening to their audience and taking action.
The fact that they waited until NOW shows they were never intending on having another Black lead until they were basically forced to.
i love what i have seen of him on tyler’s social media, so i’m excited to watch him as the bachelor!
I can't wait for our Asian bachelor and bachelorette and the Latinx and so on and so forth.
100%! I would love to see an Asian bachelor
Wishing for an asian bachelor too 😭
LatinX? U must be white 🤣😂🤣😂😂
I loved Blake K. from Rachel's season of the Bachelorette! I truly hope we are seeing a shift towards more diversity.
@@NAT-turners-Revenge I'm the exact opposite of white. But I wasn't sure which word would be correct. 💀Please enlighten me.
I loved Matt James ever since I saw all of the Quarantine Crew videos lol, and I love that he and TC have the ABC food tours charity! Also THE SALMON JACKET YESSSS
It only took 23 seasons. But hey, congrats, Matt.
We live for incredibly quick content
The fact that this show has been going on for so long and has NEVER had franchise leaders of damn near every ethnicity at least once is truly unacceptable.
Me clicking this video thinking it’s a troll/conspiracy video only to realize it’s not.
do the bachelor producers just hate mike? That’s the only explanation at this point.
or that he declined.
nevermind I just saw the end of the video
Mike talked about his relationship with Demi Lovato too much, plus he asked Keke out in public which made her uncomfortable. So I kinda get where they're coming from, he probably wouldn't be able to keep his final pick a secret.
Plus I've noticed producers don't like people who campaign for the role. Probably why Jason and Blake weren't picked from Becca's season.
ella enchanted what??? Literally everyone said Colton campaigned SO HARD. Why can Cotton campaign but you’re pressed when Mike does it 🤔🤔
@@Redandwhiteroses283 I personally disliked Colton, and rooted for Jason,so I personally don't care about campaigning. But I always felt like he was a wild card in comparison because of his time on bip.
Tin foil hat theory: mike is going to appear on Claire’s season.
That would make sense why they chose him.
@@Naforbe Would it? It hasn't been shot yet so they can't know how far he'll get.
Oh! That would be awesome! I love Mike. He might also be a lead for some kind of spin off show they’re concocting. 🤷🏻♀️😄
Hold up....but there hasn’t even been bachelorette. But congrats to him!!
Honestly they’re probably gonna be filming them at the same time because they’re so behind and they need to catch up on content. Wouldn’t be surprised. 🤷🏼♀️
Yeah it seems super early!!
Claire's season is tentatively set to begin filming in July, according to Lauren Zima, while Matt's season will probably be on the regular schedule of filming to start in September. Guess we're not gonna get a Paradise this year.
I really appreciate your positive and upbeat content!! I think Matt is going to be an amazing Bachelor- I can't wait to watch his season!! 🌹
Want to bet he picks a white woman?
"The people of the bachelor are listening to us"
WE WANTED MIKE😭
Pretty sure some men from Clare’s season are still going to promote their brand. For Matt’s season I hope they make the minimum age 25 ,but they’re probably going to sprinkle a few 22 years olds in there. 😒
BACHELOR FANTAKE YOUR GREASE 2 REFERENCE GAVE ME SO MUCH LIFE
Thank you so much for this content @BachelorFantake . Your videos are always perfection.
I was shocked, but happy for him!
Bachelor Fantake, I appreciate that you know your audience! Thank you!
I wasn't expecting a Grease 2 reference when I woke up this morning, but here we are.
I was thrilled with this announcement! So excited for his season!
The GREASE TWO clip!!! 🤣🤣 I’m dying! I loved that movie-“Who’s that guy?”
Great, now when are we gonna get an Asian lead??
probably in another 5 years 🙄
When are people in the US finally date more outside their ethnicity so most kids are mixed and it won't matter all the time what you are but who. Which it should now already anyways. Not saying I don't see the diversity problem in the bachelor. I just hope it won't matter much some day soon.
How did you get this video up so fast? 😂 You're the best!
I'm excited! I think this is going to be a great season and I really hope people give it a chance.
happy to see the bachelor finally being more diverse. especially during these times
The Grease 2 clip was perfection!!!
The salmon jacket😂😂😂!!! Chris, you crack me up!!!
I'm excited! While I agree that this is long overdue, it doesn't mean it isn't of course welcome. I hope they continue to acknowledge and make sincere efforts and progress.
I immediately recognized the jacket!!! Love this Easter egg, hopefully he use it in the show
8:24 I literally died 😂😂😂
Excellent choice! White crew neck tee shirt would be chic with the salmon jacket. That navy shirt would look sharp with his tweed navy/grey jacket☺️
The breakdown has me sold. I’m ready for this new Bachelor!!!
That’s great that ABC heard the masses. I just hope he is really going to be serious, decisive and emotionally mature. The show has been missing real romance for a while . Hopefully his season brings it!
Bring on those white girls!
Omg the salmon jacket im dead ☠. So exciting to see the positive evolution of bachelor.
they need to keep doing that! having the next bachelor/bachelorette two seasons ahead so no one is there just to get their own season!!!! That will really help Clare FINALLY******** find someone.
Shout out to Raleigh! Happy to see a much needed change and can’t wait for Matt’s season 🙏
The salmon jacket part was sooo dramatic 😂😂
I'm very happy to know that the bachelor staff hears the people, but I'm kinda sad that it wasn't Mike
Mariana Rojas I'm pretty sad it wasn't Mike...I think he would make great tv, get great ratings, he's so hot, funny, and charming
Wahoo! This is great news! I wonder how long he is going to have to wait before filming can begin.
He went to my high school! Excited to see some shots of Raleigh and Winston-Salem on his season!
SO EXCITED!
I’m onto you Salmon Jacket! I will find you! 🤣🤣🤣
Absolutely loved the Grease 2 reference 🙌🏽
I think this is a great step but another model/ex-athlete? I wish we got more regular people because Matt seems a little clout chase-y from what I've seen so far. And if the production and casting is as bad as last season I don't know if I can watch it
It took them 18 years to choose a black man I can't imagine them not choosing a conventionally attractive person. We'll have to see
@@missm2925 I didn't mean someone who isn't conventionally attractive (that would be nice but doubtful it would happen) I meant someone with a regular job
Yess thank you
Exactly
Maria he’s an analyst for a real estate firm lol how is that not a real job
Listening to him Address the last seasoning the bachelorette as “Clair”s season” is bazaar....
I thought this was fake but it's NOT! OOO CAN'T WAIT FOR HIS SEASON! Hopefully it's not as a disaster as Peter's was 👌🏼
YAY so excited to get back to bachelor things! I’ve been following Matt on Instagram since the “quarantine crew” erupted and he seems like a great pick!
I hope they also have more Asian, Indian, and middle eastern girls on the season. This guy seems awesome. A babe and charity heart ❤️ and thank you for your content as always! I love your channel.
How about a video on the changes ABC is making to accommodate the “health situation” in the world? That would be interesting if you could find the information.
He has a great smile and I love the career path he’s chosen. I hope the ladies who are invited to his season behave in mature ways so we can have less dumpster fires and more romance.
The Grease 2 clip is everything! 👏👏👏 🎶Who’s that guy? 🎶
