Watching the first season of the bachelor and bachelorette actually made me realise what the actual premise of the show was. You had a stable job or career and were unlucky in love and came in the show to find love. Now the show has become the opposite. You come on the show so that you can have career afterwards. Doesn't seem so genuine now.
I’m kinda surprised you didn’t mention how during Shannon’s entire home town date, she literally left Alex with her parents and played with her dog the whole time 😂😂
And that’s why the relationships implode 95% of the time after the show wraps. The show is total garbage. How it hasn’t gotten cancelled in this woke PC era is what I’m amazed at.
I feel like asking “if you had to make a decision right now who would you pick?” Is kind of unfair! I mean... You’re kinda putting him on the spot and he’s not gonna be like “well not you!” You know?
It's not a boston consulting group, it's the Boston Consulting Group, and the job is miserable, but they do allow long breaks between projects. It makes sense to me he would want to do this.

TINFOIL HAT TIME!! Alex is still single and is going to be on Clare’s season which is why he’s “hard to track down...” According to Wikipedia, he’s 50, which would put him at the older range for her pick of men, but not out of question where it would be inappropriate...
I am one of the people who have watched The Bachelor from day 1. I remember this season well and my sister and I originally tuned in because the promos looked so ridiculous but then we got incredibly hooked. I remember the finale and her and I being on the phone together for the final choice. Netflix or Hulu had Alex and Trista’s seasons available in full back in 2016 so I relived them then. The show has changed but also stayed the same. I really liked the interviews on Monday with several of the past on these seasons. There was so much more to Shannon’s going off on Alex over the Fantasy Suite. Fun to revisit. Thanks for the recap!
Erin Koster On Nick Viall’s podcast (with Wells Adams as guest,) Nick talked about the shift in social media presence between Andi’s season and Jojo’s. I haven’t watched consistently enough to pin down the timeline, but that’s one data point at least 🤷♀️
Erin Koster Do you mean in terms of people going on just for fame? I think it’s probably in the last 5 years that it has been different in that respect. I personally wish they would change the dating format back to how it was originally (with less people and more time for real conversations). They didn’t show it on Trista’s abbreviated recap but she had a date with 3 guys and really got to know them all well. These 15 person dates with challenges are so over the top and seem more for “show” than real connection making.
Goosebump 801 The addition of Reality Steve changed a lot too. Back when you had no idea the outcome, it was extra exciting. The show has definitely taken on a “format” in the past few seasons which is predictable (this is the timing for expressing you are falling in love, etc) The reason I enjoyed Listen to your Heart so much was that it was fresh and new and even the contestants didn’t know what to expect next. So that recaptured a lot of what the early Bachelor and Bachelorette seasons were like.
Carolyn Coogan yeah, it seemed in the early seasons that the contestants were more normal people who knew this was kind of a weird situation. Now it’s all influencers who are totally ready to dive into the weird world of reality TV. They even look different-less natural these days. Hard to put my finger on exactly what biggest the difference is between now and then but the effect of social media would explain a lot.
Trista and Ryan were so sweet. Ryan the adorable, humble fireman. Different personalities but I think they balanced each other well, and apparently still do.
I’ll be interested to see if they can get Brad Womack on a video call when his seasons are shown next. He’s not on social media anymore and hasn’t been for a few years.
I'm surprised they're considering that one of the greatest seasons. His first season was shocking. That ending was genuine, but horrible. Then his second season was OK, but didn't end in a lasting relationship. I'm personally more interested in revisiting the success stories. Even though I know how they all end, it ends up feeling more romantic to relive the falling in love parts. I don't "get" how they are choosing these greatest seasons ever.
I love your channel! Ever think about doing "deep dives" per bachelor/bachelorette seasons? I only started tuning in on Emily's season, and have been watching ever since. I'd love a "deep dive" on. earlier season which most haven't watched, or don't remember. Thanks, and keep it up!
Yeah it was definitely just what was in style. 90s NBA superstars made the big suits into a trend. Teeny plucked eyebrows, chunky highlights, non-flattering bangs... 🙈 the style was wild back then lmao
Why do people frown upon women from this show for expecting the guy they could marry in a couple days not to have slept with the other women? It’s just common sense to me and we should all demand respect. If you don’t care it’s one thing but when people got mad at Madi it was mind blowing and I completely understand why this girl was taken back finding out the man she loves was intimate with another woman a couple days prior to them leaving together just bizarre
There are supposed to be no cameras in the Fantasy Suite yet they keep showing footage for it. It looks Alex and Amanda had a night vision camera on them all night.
