Wax N Facts was one of my staples while I lived in the ATL (1992 - 2000) but has always been one of my favorite record shops. The peeps there were always knowledgable about music and vinyl. Miss going there and always discovering some gems.
Wax N Facts was one of the first used stores I ever went into in 1986 and it honestly still looks exactly the same. I would almost wager the crates have never been changed..
One of my favorite record stores. I grew up in Atlanta going to this store in 1981-1984. Bought my first The The, Ultravox, Depeche Mode, and Oingo Bingo albums here. So grateful Wax & Facts is flourishing!!!
That is awesome. Sadly, the shops where I grew up, are gone. But I'm old, so I guess that's natural. But that's one of the reasons why I make these videos. I hate to see record shops die. I want everybody to see them and hopefully visit them again. They always have something good for you.
I REMEMBER WHEN I GOT MY FIRST CD PLAYER MY FIRST CD WAS THE COASTERS GREATEST HITS. I GOT IT FROM WAX N FACTS. (I'M SERIOUS OLD SCHOOL. I' 64 YEARS OLD. MY DAD HAD THE THICK AND HEAVY 78 RECORD COLLECTION OF THE COASTERS AND I HAD TO HAVE THAT) SO WHEN I GOT MY NEW CD PLAYER (THE ONE THAT LOOKS LIKE A BOOM BOX WITH THE DISCONNECTING SPEAKERS FROM BEST BUY) MY FIRST CD WAS THE COASTERS. I GOT THAT CD FROM WAX N FACTS. YOU CAN FIND ANY SONG THERE! FABULOUS STORE!!
As an undergrad at Valdosta State in the mid 1980s I trucked up to Atlanta several times a year for sporting events, concerts and especially to visit Wax n Facts. It was a long ride but always worth it. And sometimes the games and shows were good!
i LOVE WAX N FACTS! MY COUSIN AND I WENT THERE BACK IN DECEMBER TO FIND AN ALBUM OF THELONIUS MONK'S GREATEST HITS FOR A (GET THIS!) 12 YEAR OLD WHO WAS INTO JAZZ! BUT I KNOWN ABOUT THIS FABULOUS PLACE WAY LONG BEFORE THAT! ALL OF MY45'S AND ALBUMS, I GOT FROM WAX N FACTS! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR THAT UNFORGETTABLE OLD SCHOOL SONG OR COLLECTION OF A PRIZED POESSION ALBUM THAT YOU NO LONGER HAVE, WAX N FACTS IS THE PLACE TO GO!!! THIS PLACE IS A NATIONAL TREASURE! SHOULD BE PRESERVED FOREVER. TOWER RECORDS IS GONE, PEACHES IS GONE, AND TURTLES IS TRULY GONE, BUT WAX N FACTS IS STLL STANDING ON THE BLOCK! LOVE THIS PLACE! IT'S LIKE GOING BACK IN TIME!
It's very nice that vinyl record shops still exist. They keep very large layer of human culture. By the way, what average prices for old vinyl in wax'n'facts?
@@KirVag Prices as low as $5, and you can find great titles. Some more important albums can go up to $20 or more. It depends on the album. Still a great shop to visit. Huge collection.
Nice. Those Renaissance records that I saw have me interested, as I do listen to a lot of prog rock. As I will be in Atlanta the first week of September, if time allows, I will want to check out a couple of record stores. I am actually interested in checking out Disorder Vinyl as from everything I heard/read, they seem to specialize in heavy metal, which is what I am really interested in. This Wax n' Facts place does sound like it will be worth checking out. Another advantage of buying CDs besides that you can seem to get them cheap, is that they are much easier to fit in the luggage. Now, the vendor area at ProgPower USA over in Midtown at Center Stage Live will have a pretty nice area where I will be able to pick up a bunch of CDs and records as well in the genres of power and progressive heavy metal, which is what I am REALLY interested in.
My first trip down in June 1976 to WnF has an asterisk. My dad made me stay in the car with the doors locked and wouldn't let me go in, But I also went driving around in my mom's 67 Camaro with one of the owners and also Mike Greene of The Fans,,,,combing yard sales the following month to stock the store with vinyl,
Só discão! Você curtindo horrores aí, comprando discos por pechincha e nós aqui no Brasil se fodendo com este governo MALDIT0 taxando TUDO!!! Você é feliz meu amigo! Que sorte!!!
Pro tip: The crate directly behind the door holds the best recent buys and gems. I always check it out before I set my budget.
Vinyl never dies.
Whatever physical media you enjoy should never die!

Same!
Same here. Purchased a few hundred lps there over the years.
I've been going there since 1985.

one of the best smelling stores in the city (book nook & wuxtry get the nod too).
Love this shop. I used to buy and sell there for years when I lived there. Glad they're still thriving!
Went there for the first time a few weeks ago. Great spot found some records from the stylistics I had been looking for

This is one of the very few places that carried new vinyl in the 90s
I spent hours at a time there in the 80s and 90s, it looks almost exactly the same. There are definitely some good deals to be had at that place.
ive been there a few times and have always picked up some great deals especially on CDs. awesome shop.
I feel the same! Keep the music going!
You pointed out that the B-52s were from Athens, but missed the fact that Danny Beard - the co-owner of Wax 'n' Facts - put out their first single!
OMG, I had no idea! Thank you for the info!

The truly remarkable thing is that many of the same guys working here have worked here since the 1980s and they HAVE NOT AGED.
I believe you. LOL!
I bought so many albums there in the 90s. Still looks the same now as it did back then.

Olá! Eu sugiro que faças mais vídeo a visitar no nosso país. É chato encontrar lugares.
Cá está. Acabei de postar dois vídeos sobre a Jazz Messengers, em Lisboa. 😊

@@terrydrums I went there several times to make videos. Never had a problem. Bought great albums. Then went to eat. You will be fine!
