    My ETA 2842-2 in my 2012 Tissot PRC200 is a weapon workhorse. No servicing and only gains 1.2 seconds per day after 9 years ! Amazing

      I have a Bulova Super Sevelle with an ETA 2844 movement. It is 30 years old, has never been serviced and has been on my wrist doing very rough field work. The time grapher reads: +1 second/day. amplitude about 280 and a beat error of 0.3ms. that is better than my recently serviced Rolex Datejust. I am astonished by the durability and longevity of this movement.

    0:45 I wonder if viewers are going to mistakenly infer from that picture that ETA movements are in Rolex watches...or even in that specific 114060 Sub.

      @Austin Daniels Hope not! As you know, Rolex never used an ETA movement. ✔

    Want to get one eta 6498 movement watch from ferro and company. But costs almost 600 dollars. In my currency it's around 55k . Not sure if it will last me a lifetime. Is it reliable?

    ETA movements have stood the test of time, with basically every issue and wrinkle worked out. I’d rather own a watch with an enhanced ETA movement than manufacture movements from all but a few of the highest manufactures.

    So what does the E.T.A. stand for?

    • @TimesTicking
      @TimesTicking  3 роки тому

      @Ray W ETA AG was formed in 1932 as a subsidiary to Eterna and was a member of Ebauches SA.
      In 1932 Swiss laws forced the separation of movement-
      and watch manufacturing. Ex. manufacturers were not allowed to
      simultaneously sell Ebauches or finished movements, and apply them
      in their own watches.
      So the Ebauche division of Eterna was separated, but only financially.
      Eterna and ETA continued to share the same factory building, and even
      both moved into a new building in 1941. In 1944 both were still listed as
      one company: ETA-Eterna.
      In 1982 all the remaining Ebauches left and Ebauches SA were merged into ETA. Thus, through a process of merging & elimination, the only part of Ebauches SA left was ETA.

      In switzerland, we say "etta" 😅

    • @paulm2467
      @paulm2467 10 місяців тому

      Everyone calls it ‘etta’ it’s full name is ETA SA, this sounds ridiculously long when spelled out. It’s descended from Eterna but no one seems to know what it stands for or if it’s an abbreviation so say it any way you like.
