You don't HAVE to switch though, you can use more than one DAW. I use Ableton & FL all the time, sometimes start a project in one & finish in the other or do sound design in one & put a beat together in the other, it's been amazing to have the best of both Worlds to work with
Nice video. I did the same "switch" recently in the other direction after 8 years. But a misunderstanding I commonly see is people assuming it needs to be a permanent switch, one or the other. I would say it's more like adding additional tools to your belt, that you can access when you need them.
Great video bro! I copped Live 11 last month with their 50% off promotion. The way Live handles audio + automation was what sold me when watching the homies use it. The integration with the Novation Launchkey has been making the learning experience more fun!
Ableton is soooo intuitive to me. I first started using it in 2012 but then switched to Reason until this year and switched back to Ableton. It has really improved. I love how it handles audio for sure. It’s streamlined. (Ableton GANG 💪)
Yeah it does also ALL THOSE DAMN VSTs Trust me I love ableton a lot but it lacks in a solid piano roll and VSTs ABLETON NEEDS MORE FREE VSTs THAT SOUNDS LIKE REAL INSTRUMENTS INSTEAD OF THOSE SYNTHs
i never tried FL Studio so i can't tell anything about it. but all i can say that Ableton Live is a changer and the power tool for DJs and EDM Producers much like Pro Tools is for Pop 'n' Rock music producers and engineers. but don't forget that the brothers in law, Logic & Cubase both still badass DAWs especially Logic. at the end if you are serious you can translate your ideas in any DAW.
I felt the same way my man. There just comes a day that the man outgrows the toys and moves on to real tools. Eventually, you will outgrow Ableton too when you find Bitwig.
so many people swear FL is easier, which is why I purchased it first. Then I tried a Demo of Live and haven't really touched FL since. But I do like some of the stock plugins in fl better. But don't really matter for me because I mostly use third party
I've been using both for 3 years now. I'm more creative and I have much more fun in Ableton but when it's time for drums ... ohh when its that time... I use Fl studio.... But my feeling tells me I have to choose one of the two 👀
One good hybrid approach might be to compose/produce in FL and mix in ableton. Working with midi in ableton feels like having your fingertips burnt off.
I'm probably never gonna leave FL, but this is an interesting video. I started using FL Summer of 2004, and over that time, ive used, Reason, Logic, Protools, Reaper, Maschine, and MPC Beats, but I've always come back to FL to be able to completely actualize my ideas and finish them. Ableton has come a long way though! Salute to them!
I've been on the fence for a few years now... I layer and use a ton of effects for post processing sounds and always end up needing like 2 FL Projects to have enough mixer channels (ik patcher exists but it kills my workflow). Luckily, Ableton has unlimited channels for effects PLUS sick racks that you can download from people on the internet. The only thing that's kept me from buying it is the price, especially since I'll be a poor college student this upcoming year. However, I will be studying music production full time for the next few years sooooooo it could definitely be a good investment.
It is a bit pricey, BUT they do have the payment thing you can do (which is what I did), and even then, using Ableton Lite enough will let you know if its worth the cop.
I remember switching to Ableton and thinking that this was the ugliest DAW I've ever seen but only to realize how "direct" it was. FL Studio can overwhelming very quickly with too many plugin windows and other windows that are open. The wrap algorithms in Ableton are by far the best I've used, especially since Ableton was first a DAW for loops.
The fact that the problem with the automation, the one that you delete it but it still stays so you need to dig in the menu to find it and delete it there is still existing to this day,is so embarrassing; also we don’t have audio warping on playlist like ableton. I think they don’t changed these problems not because they don’t want to,they probably would need to rewrite the DAW from the ground up.
Anyone here who could give an honest opinion on the engine of Ableton against Fl ? Also there is this thing I've noticed with FL while mixing... everytime you open a new plugin or add a sound, or start messing with a plugin already opened in the session on a particular track in the mixer, it changes slightly the overall balance of the mix even in parts of it where you haven't touched anything. The balance of frequencies is constantly kinda slightly floating during a session no matter what you do and usually when you close it and reopen again is always more transparent and tighter. It's difficult to describe it but if you have perfectly balanced one part of the mix lets say intro and you are working on the chorus for instance which does not involve the same sounds and plugins, the balance of the intro that you are happy with changes while you work on the chorus.
There is no engine. Ableton and FL use both 32bit floating point and are capable to sound exact the same...FL has a statement about this Myths in their glossary. Open FL-click help, then Help Index...Now it opens up the glossary in your browser...Scroll all the way down (it`s one of the last ) to "Audio Myths & DAW Wars"...There you can read and debunk so many Audio Myths you hear on the internet, it`s really internet and maybe you`ll get an answer to your question :)
Glad to have you on board brother. I switched from reaper, cause I like to do everything in hard mode. I definitely considered fl for a long time, and I still feel like the piano roll in FL is better, but audio and automation editing is so much easier.
@@ДжонСнежный i use the latest version of ableton, but I still find the piano roll clunky, and small, yes you can enlarge it, but the way fl also automatically shows all the other midi data(without having to manually select) helps when drawing in complementary midi parts. I prefer ableton, but I won’t deny the shortcomings. FL still had them beat with things being more intuitive within the confines of the piano roll. I also like the global swing of fl, makes things a little easier than having to manually enable them on each track
Sometimes, I think about switching DAWs, but I don't think there's any one that's more customizable than Reaper. At this point, I've got soo many functions/processes linked to single mouse buttons (on a 12-button gaming mouse). And, LITERALLY, anytime I've thought there was something I was unable to do in Reaper - I was wrong. But, everybody should (actively) seek their joy.
I haven't used it enough to have much of an opinion about it. BUT what i will say, there are people out their that definitely prove that it is a GREAT DAW!
your Daw is a tool for expression, regardless of your preference.... but I personally love ableton rather than Fl studio and I use live 10 and it still serves me really well
I'm a Reason user, have Used Ableton Live lite and do like it but, I think I'll be keeping Reason as the main DAW for now. Should not though that even Ableton lite is dope for live, its works with Decks, Reason dont, which is annoying.
Lifetime updates areuseless if it limits your creativity. Think about it, why wouldn’t people pick a lifetime update Daw over Ableton? I’ve used them all and Ableton Live is by far the GOD DAW.🦾✌🏾
Thank you for the video man, really helped me. For the next video though, since you are moving the microphone too much make sure to use some compression on the recorded vocal. Also, lower down the background music a bit in post production as on quiet parts I can barely hear you Keep it up man 👍🏻
It's honestly like hearing batman join the avengers. But honestly Ableton will always be the superior. Because of it's flexibility handling live performances. That's why I chose the daw. I remember FL being first, and the sequencer will always throw me for a loop. Either welcome aboard senpai. #ohgoshsenpai
Ableton is so much cleaner to work with than FL Studio, I would be disappointed if I had to go back to FL studio. Though I do miss some of the FL plugins like gross beat
People there is choice in this world you can use multiple daws for example abelton is great for recording and fl is great in its piano rolls so no need to just stick to one experiment with both and use them both and make the best out of them. Also why do you make such videos saying one daw is better than the other instead mention both their pros and cons then with them together so you can have a much better experince
I have both, DAWs FL And Ableton, I’m now at a point where I’m enthusiastic about learning something new! I think if more producers were to step outside of their comfort zone and try a different DAW maybe the wild find new inspiration!!!!🤯🤍🙏🏽
Learning a new DAW makes you create in a different way. Even when I go back a forth between FL and Ableton, i feel my workflow got better in FL and vise versa!

Good choice! Which DAW did you come from?
beautiful setup man, also 100% agree that there's no need for war between ableton and fl users
Sometimes Change Is Good. And It Sparks New Ideas. 🔥🔥🔥🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
Absolutely! I say use all DAWs and figure what's great about each and every one of them.
I felt like that with Studio One. It's my go-to for audio recording. But FL is still fun to create music with.
Same here. FL & Studio One is a crazy combo. Endless workflows and no idea is unreachable.
crazy how fluid and fast live is compared to fl
It's not. You just don't know how to use FL Studio.
so do you know how to change the velocities or midi notes of a track and apply it to all duplicates
@@marsel108 Just on example: the audio editing/warping on Ableton is way better than FL.
Producers will appreciate being more open to different digital audio workstations.

FL studio has the best piano roll and sequencer thats why I will never move to ableton
😂yeah i gonna use both because the piano roll😭haha
I think Live 12 improves the piano roll
Yeah it does also ALL THOSE DAMN VSTs

you made the right choice, you won't regret it
I made the switch around the same time. The warp feature and previewing samples and loops was a game changer. I’m never going back.
Ableton its love at first size! Happy switch!
Welcome! It's like taking the blue pill from Morpheus.!!!! Everyday its something more great about Abelton.
I felt the same way my man. There just comes a day that the man outgrows the toys and moves on to real tools. Eventually, you will outgrow Ableton too when you find Bitwig.

This will be good because I did the same & was a great decision.
One of the best decisions of my music career
Quantizing audio in Ableton is amazing
I've been using both for 3 years now. I'm more creative and I have much more fun in Ableton but when it's time for drums ... ohh when its that time... I use Fl studio.... But my feeling tells me I have to choose one of the two 👀
Naw. use them tools. you paid for em lol. You don't have to choose.

Ableton is king!!

Very interesting. I’m contemplating getting a DAW to do sound design for my 3d videos beyond putting loops together.
I might have to do this same video LOL!! Ableton gang!!!
Please do! Let the people know lol

FL's piano is not better. Why people always compare Fl with old Ableton 10? Ableton 11 has a ton of new piano roll features like scales, glides etc
@@ДжонСнежный i use the latest version of ableton, but I still find the piano roll clunky, and small, yes you can enlarge it, but the way fl also automatically shows all the other midi data(without having to manually select) helps when drawing in complementary midi parts. what’s that beat saying?
Bruh had the lotion/napkin set-up.
one other way to experience change, try to make a genre that you personally enjoy listening to but don't make beats of or know how to
The main reason I won't move to Ableton is because I just hate the piano roll. I like the overall design of Ableton better, though.
same the piano roll is absolutely terrible in comparison

I did lol
Also needed to change but ableton piano roll is sucks
Guess you wont need that other computer monitor since you've made the switch.
wait till you try reaper
This was funny
Ableton = Able to do X thing
blink twice if there's a gun to your head

Automation is annoying in fl.

the gui is just boring, Reaper is the real king. One day everyone will know.
