@@boomboombaby9140 only thing it's missing is the arranger. Can't wait til they drop the 3.0 update like the force has. Ableton overrated in my opinion. Logic Pro X is way better.
I agree, the sound selection isn't the greatest. But you can have the best of both worlds. Live can host Maschine. But one of my favorite features involves the drum instrument. You can put multiple sounds on a channel, assign that channel to a hardware knob or fader. It could be used to audition one shots. I usually use it to audition drum parts during the drum track play back.
I swapped from FL to Ableton and haven't looked back. Aside from the fresh feel from learning something new, the work flow is incredible. I bought a push 2 and it has made me create some of the best and hardest beats I've made in easily the last 10 or so years. You're gonna love it if you don't already. I can't wait to see the wild stuff you do with the sampling capabilities. Ohh, I also have a dope percussion automation thing? (I don't know how to explain it) I can send you to play with. Basically, you use drum rack, drop your perc into the rack and create a midi channel "holding each button down" for the length of your perc loop. It'll randomly select and play the perc sounds. I even set up some maco knobs so you can change up and play with the groove it's creating. It's all ableton stock stuff, I'd be more than happy to send over. Ableton is insane, you're gonna love it, i know it.
It’s really cool to hear your changed perspective! I use Logic full time but i use Ableton for my live shows, and have tried the others too. Anywho, trying new things is essential. And sometimes it sticks!! Enjoyed the video
from a fellow Maschine user for almost 10 years (even got it tatted on me lol) switching to Ableton at the start of the year was the greatest thing i could’ve done. everyone told me to do it for years, but finally did it and was amazed i got this far without it 😭 congrats Sarah!
@@Sarah2ill yes. Plus you can drag and drop from the machine straight into Ableton . But no cap Ableton is a beast I have the suite . FL is getting better also. Try it too

Do you use the Maschine 2 vst. Did you route your Maschine to ableton or do you make the beat Maschine and drag the audio clips? Trying to see what’s the best workflow
@@Sarah2ill I use the Maschine MK3 vst, but still end up dragging what I made in the Ableton sequencer window. It’s easier to arrange there, I never liked the Maschine arranger, and as you are finding out there are things you can do in Ableton that you can’t in Maschine. I think you will love it!
Ableton Session and Maschine Ideas Views are identical. So if you've used ideas view then you can use session view with ease. The beauty of session view is that you can actually live record into arrangement view! That's been so dope for me and helped me with song arrangements.

Ableton is great for doing a wide variety of stuff. Making beats, warping samples, and mixing so it is a great program to use for Production. I have been using Ableton for 16 years now.
I have been using Ableton Live daily for the last 20 years. It's the longest-lasting toxic relationship of my life. So many things about this company and DAW are deeply frustrating, yet it always manages to do most of the things well enough to never stand in the way of being creative and making music. I wish you a great journey!
Some of my favourite ableton features are the way the automation works and being able to draw curves, The groove pool (especially for boombap drums), the note expression tab (dope for 808 slides)..... and of course the audio warping. And don't worry about ableton not having the greatest stock sounds compared to maschine, you can get all the NI stuff as vst in ableton..... as well as much much more like omnisphere, serum, heatup3 etc
This is SYNCHRONICITY at its finest man. YOU were a BIG reason i bought the Maschine Mk3 back in 2021. I love it but i bought it mainly for finger drumming. When i found myself wanting to arrange and compose more i found the workflow really fun and natural but whenever id see what people are doing in Abelton id get fomo. But then id think of u and how far you pushed Maschine and would ignore it. Long story short LAST WEEK i made the decision to just get an Ableton Push 2 and make the switch. Maschine got me in the door but Ableton will take me up the stairs. I can feel it. I will 100% be following you on this journey. Congrats on the scholarship btw ✊🏾✊🏾💭
this reminds me of when my mentor said to me "common sense is not common sense for everyone, as your familiarity to certain things someone else never grew up with..." its awesome to see you excited for all these features as it reminds me when i first figured these things too. fun exercise: if you're using ableton push. load your samples into a drum rack like an SP404, and play around with the chops as you go - even more fun is when u map the effects of each sample to a main macro 🤯 then you have an akai mk2 and a moog as a companion ableton push ... sooo fun haha
The realest video on why maschine isn't a daw, now I'm team studio one with maschine but I'm happy you're opening up what you use. The more tools in your arsenal the more flexibility with your productions💪🏾
The important part to note is that Maschine, by Native Instruments' own definition, is not a DAW. I started using Maschine via the Maschine Studio in 2016. My DAW of choice up to that point was Reason (which, by the way, has grown by leaps and bounds and is a slept on beast these days). In the pandemic, I decided to explore a number of DAWs during the pandemic and realized that all the main DAWs all do a lot of the same things, just a different way. The ONLY thing that set them all apart in a real way was their audio warping algorithm. Using Maschine alongside your DAW of choice will make you unstoppable, and Ableton is a monster of a DAW, so you're going to have SO MUCH FUN creating. I'm so happy for you!
People argue and argue over semantics, but this is true. Maschine is not a DAW, it's a groovebox. Maschine is great because of what it is and because of what it's not trying to be. When all you have is a hammer, everything be lookin like a nail. You need you a hammer, and you need you a screwdriver, both, and.
I took a tour at the inglewood campus when I was living in LA and was considering attending and then covid happened and I had to move to Florida with family. Ya I've met rance a few times and he's a huge ableton head haha. Looking forward to what you create in ableton!
When I got back into making beats again about 5 years ago I stared using Ableton. I'm a older dude and I started out on the MPC 2000 over 20 years ago, and always felt limited to what I could do when compared to the music I had playing in my head. With all the new tech I feel so free now because all the constraints have been removed as far as for sample time is concerned. And all sounds banks availability I can finally recreate what's in my head 100%. I'm not trying to make it big at 50 years old, but I just love making music and it's just part of who I am. Best wishes to you @Sarah2ill and all the best on luck on your journey and a music creator.
Congrats on the scholarship, it's well deserved. I look forward to your continued exploration and discovery. Ableton is going to expand your creative horizons to all new heights, and I know this is going to be an incredible journey. You deserve it.
Yo! I just started the 90 day trial. I noticed that my sounds are more full in the daw alone. I switched over from FL studio. I’m never going back you just taught me something right now and congratulations on the scholarship.!!!!🎉🎉
Have fun. No idea how machine works. Started with ableton and messed with logic for a bit but ableton works the way my brain works. Anything I think of trying to see if it works I can get to work. The routing is super easy… I do have random issues with routing sometimes like when I decides to just not let me select certain routing options then I close the program or restart the computer and the option randomly shows up. Could be a reason plug-in issue though since that’s what I usually try to use when I have issues. And congrats on the scholarship
Definitely considering switching to Abe from FL. Just not sure anyone can compete with FL's piano roll though. Future updates with Abe will determine my decision as with other DAWs if I switch over or not.
All your gear works inside of Ableton, Maschine works in Ableton, MPC 2 software works inside of Ableton, and You can use your SP 404 MKII as input into Ableton, I've been in Ableton for almost 15 years, You got this. It's going to bring everything together for you. Congratulations.
Hey Sarah after this video dropped I tried Ableton seriously and love it. Although I have not totally given up my MPC you were right. Amazing DAW and cant wait to to see where this leads me. I know you are probably deep into completing school and busy with life but I miss YOU and YOUR content and cant wait to see results of your progress. Eagerly awaiting an update on your DOPE PRODUCER LIFE. Yours Truly, A fan of your Journey.
Haven't seen one of your videos in year (sorry) but I've been thinking about learning Ableton you this video popped up so good to see you again. Congrat's on the scholarship!
congrats on the scholarship! so wild. like 2 days ago I was thinking the same. i started out in ableton but got a MK3 a while back. getting into the nooks and crannies of maschine was like learning a foreign language and now that I think about it it kind of made me terrified to even understand it. whereas live is more of a linear daw like pro tools of logic. taking this as my sign
I love Ableton Suite especially using it with Push 2, using it with a Push really makes it a complete experience. I agree with Maschine having a lot of great sounds but the Ableton Suite does have 70 gigs of content and there’s a lot more you can buy. I also use Logic, ProTools and Mpc hardware and software. At the end of the day it’s like having different tools inside your toolbox and some tools are better for some jobs than others. And speaking of tools, Serato just added stem to Serato Sample and imo opinion it’s a real game changer on top of everything else we have available. Anyway enjoy your Ableton journey and don’t forget all the apps that support Ableton link, especially all the IPad apps.
You won’t regret it. I was a Maschine dedicated users. A friend of mine convinced me to convert over to Ableton and no regrets. It’s a power house. Give it two months of deep diving and you’ll be making music. Forget about the old workflow. Let that go.
That’s first trick your instructor showed you is one of the my favorite Ableton features. As far as the sound selection, the instruments it has like Operator or Wavetable are nuts. Definitely recommend diving I to those. Welcome to the club I’m sure you will fall in love with it.
Hey sara if you are gonna be using maschine inside of ableton it would be awesome to see how you get that done, best of lucks with that course it sure looks dope 🎉
DANG GIRL!!! If you're already as high as you are and you're gonna augment that with Ableton and , even more, focused and formal education-I can only imagine you rising as a kingpin in the industry! Congratulations and looking forward to seeing where you go with your career, who you bring along with you, and of course, to hearing the music that you make along the way. As an aside, I started with Cakewalk and Soundforge back in the mid 90s, then to Sonar and Fruity Loops, added on Reason, then Cubase, then Rewiring FL Studio and Reason (and sometimes Sonar-maybe? I forget if Sonar rewired into Cubase....) into Cubase, then Logic, and now Ableton (although I had used Ableton for about a year in the 2000s). And I still use Logic by the way because it has some great sounds. So yeah, I'm old AF!!! lol Ableton is the business, but they all have their perks. ;) Anyway, cheers everyone and stay inspired! 🙏
I am sure you probably already know this, but when you add Maschine into Ableton as a vst, you can just straight up drag any sample from the Maschine one shot menu or the loop menu onto an audio track in Ableton. Might make finding Maschine samples to use in Ableton faster for you. Also learning Abletons routing for midi and audio is super useful. You can get arpeggiated MIDIs from certain vsts as full on MIDI recordings in Ableton when set up correctly.
I use Ableton, it has a great workflow, with the standalone Push 2 it's a killer!!! But Ableton would have to be careful with BITWIG which has been coming in force for a few years ...
Huge congrats on the scholarship! A class workshop like that is truly a dream, and you're incredibly deserving of it for all your tutorials and music content. Your maschine tutorials got my foot in the door since getting my MK3, and now you're giving me the push to give Abelton another shot! 😂
Yooooo this is big! This video made me so happy. Thank you for sharing. It's been so dope to watch your journey. You deserve all the infinite joy, opportunity, and success, and the fact that you are still sharing your journey in this vulnerable and authentic way is inspiring. Also big shout to the legendary 1500 for recognizing all your gifts and hard work. I started on MPC3000 and now on Ableton. I did not know about THIS type of Ableton transient warping options, blew my mind. Bless! Peace Sarah. Keep shining.
I'm an FL user and I decided to give Maschine a try since buying the Maschine Mikro. This was also around the time I started learning Live as well. So far I'm loving live so much that I pretty much stopped using Maschine entirely.
Congrats on the scholarship! Ableton is next level, especially for any electronic based music. 15 years of Logic Pro and last year I got Ableton and soon after got a Push 2. Cannot express the amount of positive change in productivity and fluidity in developing compositions. Part of that is personal work I've done with my mindset, but drum rack, instrument racks, and effects racks alone has been a life changer.
Thank you for this video. I appreciate your presentation and disposition. Congrats on getting that scholarship! Interested in seeing what you develop through this new skill with using AL.
Congratulations Sarah! You've been at this for awhile now! I'm so Happy For you! Ableton is Dope! I like Ableton, but I'm a dedicated Reason user! Wishing you continued success!
That's ironic for me to watch this since I just got a Maschine MK3 randomly, after having had played with the software for a year now. The last 3 days I've just been studying and mastering the Maschine, NOT SO I CAN SWITCH TO IT, but so I can integrate it into my current Logic and Ableton workflow. Since I'm pretty fluent in Ableton and Logic, I know exactly their strengths & weaknesses, and I use both in my workflow to balance them out. And now with this new knowledge of Maschine hardware and software, I'm like floating right now with so many ideas! Good luck on your Ableton journey! You're gonna find a lot of stuff very similar to Maschine, but different, and hopefully you can integrate both in your workflow! As producers, we're like computer programmers, but with music. You gotta learn every industry standard language, so this is the step in the new direction. Only ProTools is left to learn now, and then actual old school analog consoles!
Being able to drag any sample onto a midi track and having it automatically loaded into a sampler! You could take that same guitar clip, drag it onto a midi track and set the sampler (it's called "Simpler") to "slice" mode - you can create the coolest new loops by resampling that way!
Welcome to Ableton. I just started a few years ago too. I loved how easy it was to jump in. I've been able to use it to compose small scores for projects already :-) It's that powerful.
Look into the Warp function. one of the best features letting you nudge a vocal forward/backwards shorten or elongate to help fit the song your creating.
Congratulations to you 👏 I first heard of you from a gentleman name Mark of LANDMARQ music. I've been rocking with Ableton since 2009. Welcome to the club.
Hi In 1 year of using it, you may not notice it, but those who see and hear what you produce will notice it. Ableton has integration everywhere, yes, Maschine will always be my generator of ideas to compose. I use Ableton for when I finished my scenes in MK3 and I lack the details... Good luck! Hug!
Congratulations on going to school!!! And your switch to AL!!! I’ve been dibing and diving into AL coming from Logic!!! I’m using it for live performances!!! Anxious to see your content with Abelton!!!

Welcome to the gang! Switched to Ableton in 2019 and haven’t looked back since.
congrats!! i know you’ll do great things
Ayyyeee!!!!! She ready!!!! Welcome to the dysfunctional yet fun family of Ableton!
Yes. Give us the step by step shpeel. I can’t wait for your ableton course!
Hey sara if you are gonna be using maschine inside of ableton it would be awesome to see how you get that done, best of lucks with that course it sure looks dope 🎉
Most definitely!!!!
Don’t forget the “h” 😅
congratulations you are the best
💜💜💜
Ayy Thank You so much for the kind words and sharing your journey!!! That’s beautiful!!!
Hit the like button on sight. Fan of site. And of ableton ...so. And now ima watch video. Congratulations. Good stuff.
Yes....U are going to luv the difference in the feel of how u create.
I started with Ableton Live 9 in 2015, now I use Ableton Live 11 Suite.
i am so excited!
@Sarah2ill I also luv that I can still use my Maschine MK3 inside my Ableton Live 11 Suite
Congratulations Sarah! Well deserved 🎉
May you find happiness in whatever you choose to get your groove on. Stay safe.
That’s great. I can’t wait to see what you do next!
Groove templates are awesome! Get to know them
Welcome to Ableton family. This is Daw is crazy 🔥🔥🔥
Thank You so much fam!
Thanks for the love and kind words!
You’re already such a phenomenal producer! Can’t wait to see the 💎 you create with even more tools to use now!
Thank You so much!!!
Welcome to Ableton! Been here since 2021 from FL Studio for 18 years. It's gonna be challenging, but you're gonna love it!
That is soooo cool! ❤ that scholarship is something you should be so proud of & get so much out of. Much respect for your illicious beats & hard work.
You can use Maschine inside Ableton, so best of both worlds and hybrid approach
Reason 12 here, I have Live 11 Suite, Cubase 12 Pro, Logic, Bitwing, Luna, but always I go back to Reason!
Why is that?
@@Sarah2ill what are the name of the book?
6:55 is a cool feature! Ive been using fl studio for like 5 years and just found out it does this also like 2 weeks ago 😂
Thank you for this video. I appreciate your presentation and disposition. Congrats on getting that scholarship! Interested in seeing what you develop through this new skill with using AL.
I can't wait for you to experience the arrangement view! It's the reason I added Ableton to my Maschine workflow.
Sweet
It was fun watching you discover Ableton.
Wait until she gets a PUSH 3!! 😀 ❤️
Congrats on the scholarship. Good luckk lerning Ableton. Whatever tools you use to sharpen your skills, the better.
Please keep us updated on your ableton journey!
Congrats Sarah. Keep them journey vids coming.
Hi In 1 year of using it, you may not notice it, but those who see and hear what you produce will notice it.
Ableton has integration everywhere, yes, Maschine will always be my generator of ideas to compose. I use Ableton for when I finished my scenes in MK3 and I lack the details... Good luck! Hug!
Ableton the goat 🐐 💪🏽 I have an mpc live, mpc key 61, Logic, Maschine plus but I always go back to Ableton
Congratulations on going to school!!! And your switch to AL!!! I’ve been dibing and diving into AL coming from Logic!!! I’m using it for live performances!!! Anxious to see your content with Abelton!!!
Congratulations on your new journey!
Thank You so much!
I switched to Ableton recently as well! No turning back! lol
Yup Ableton is DOPE. I need to dive into it as well. The features are so amazing. Your going to jump levels just by learning that DAW. Enjoy Queen!🙏🏾
i been using ableton for 3 years and didn't know about the audio quantize.. only about the warp. thank you. please share any more cool things you find about ableton, because I actually may not know about it. Thanks for sharing this!
Omg so amazing! Congratulations ❤💐
Thank you so much!!
10:47 wait until you integrate battery into Ableton drum rack and use the Maschine Expansions, and the Komplete Kontrol integration is bananas!
You can incorporate maschine into your work flow,by opening it as a Vst, program a sound and export to Ableton.
Congrats on you Abelton daw journey. Tho I a Cubase user for bout 20years. I occasionally use Abelton to switch up out of my comfort zone. It’s a useful tool.
I just made the switch two days ago trying to get use to it. I use NI it as a vst inside Ableton
yes! im gonna do the same thing!!! BEAST MODE!
