My son passed away 5 days before Christmas. This was one of the songs at his funeral. He loved Dave Matthews Band. This will always be a beautiful memory when I think of him. Thank you Dave Matthews for putting many smiles on my son's face when he was alive. 🥰

I grew up listening to Dave Matthews and him doing the maker was always one of my absolute favorites. I went to see Phish in Mexico last year and when they brought out Dave Matthews to do this song I welled up in tears. It was like a lifetime of loving music crashing into my soul with the ocean breeze. Hard to describe. One of my favorite life moments.

This song makes me cry, I can tell his love for this song and his emotions come through which makes his singing of these words more profound, I just love it and hope to see him in concert one day

I had no idea Dave could play the piano but what can’t he do? I’m a huge DMB fan and also Daniel Lanois, and these two singing this a duet would be simply amazing! When I first came across Dave singing a Daniel Lanois song I was so happy…..being a huge Daniel Lanois fan….and an even bigger DMB fan …..I used to live in Seattle and would see Dave driving up and down the major road near his neighborhood….the first time we were driving up the street and I looked over and saw this guy in a first green Range Rover and did to my husband, “ that guy looked exactly like Dave Matthews” and then again a few weeks later we saw the same suv and and the same guy….and then we were having coffee at Lighthouse coffee, a coffee shop in the area and the same green Range Rover pulls up and the guy gets out and it WAS Dave….then, shamefully, I found out where Dave’s house was (Wallingford) and would drive up and down his street like a complete pyscho stalker just hoping he would come out of his house….I’m embarrassed to admit I did this and I stopped when I realized how creepy it was but I was so pleased to see that he lives or did live in such a simple house, on a simple street, in a simple neighborhood in Seattle…I mean the guy has millions and millions of dollars and he lives/lived in a lovely but simple craftsman house not some huge mega mansion ….some of my absolute favorite artists are from Seattle, Dave Matthews, Brandi Carlile, Eddie Veddder, Macklemore ( my best friend runs a certain car dealership in the U District as has Macklemore and Seattle Sounder Nicholas Lodeiro - among several other players) and RIP Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell, Jimi Hendrix….and some of my not so favs; Kenny G, Kenny Loggins, Judy Collins, Ben Gibbard, Nikki Six, Sir Mix a lot, The Sonics,
I don’t know what it’s going to take, but please put this version on your next album. Maybe with a string quartet in the background. And maybe let Amos Lee sing a verse or two. That would be a slam dunk.
