  • ALL front load washers will have this problem after about 10-15 years time. ALL OF THEM. The Spider Arm that holds the drum in place and spins it with the motor will corrode and FALL APART causing your machine to shake badly due to unbalance, to not drain properly, or cause a loud grinding noise from your drain pump. You can fix this YOURSELF with just a few new parts, common hand tools, and a couple hours of time. You will have a LIKE-NEW washer afterwards that will last you ANOTHER 15 years! This Samsung washer is a model WF337AAL/XAA but this applies to nearly ALL front loading washing machines.

    I’m having the same issue with my Samsung washer and its spider arm. Thank you for showing me that I don’t want to repair it on my own! 🤣 But in all seriousness, great video! This is really, really informative.

    Thank you. So glad to find a video with the model or close the one we have. Very precise and informative video. Works better if you have the right tools for tight spaces. We didn't, so it took us longer. Saved us, I'm sure, lots of money though.

    Wow, great camera work and editing. My appliances all tend to fail on or day before a major holiday. Water heater was Easter a few years ago, heat pump/air conditioner was 4th July 2023, dodged a bullet labor day, and greenhouse issues Thanksgiving 2023. This appears to be my 2023 Christmas issue. Your video will same me some money but more importantly a lot of time. Sending a small token of thanks.

      Well you sure do have some interesting timing with appliance failures! I can't thank you enough for the generous gift! I sincerely hope the video helps you get your washer fixed up soon and without a lot of hassle! I wish you the best!

    Same issue on my samsung only 6 years old. Chunks of metal in the filter and wouldnt drain. Didnt realize what was in filter until this video, but the repair person said the exact same thing. Easier to replace than repair, they normally dont do this job.
    Apparently hard water can be a culprit.

    • @ApacheRanch
      @ApacheRanch  5 місяців тому +2

      You and I had the same experience. Really a poor design, given that the spider arm is exposed to water. They should be using different metals or some composite or something that can survive in that environment. Thanks for your comment. Did you end up fixing yours yourself, or replace?

    • @CadillacCentral
      @CadillacCentral 5 місяців тому +1

      @@ApacheRanch I was reading other comments as well and they agree with you that the design is poor considering this part is exposed to water and detergent. The repair person said over time it happens but I'm pretty shocked 6 years is all it took. The filter literally looked like is was full of silver shredded confetti chips.
      Quote to repair was $1300, also requires new outer shell. Brand new our machine was $1100 so we will be replacing.

    Great video. I found an off brand part for $100 on Amazon.
    Just pulled all apart - my spider bracket had completely broke 360 degrees.

    It's a great video and you did a great job but i just think this one is too much for me. I've changed the door seal which wasn't too bad but this involves pretty much dismantling the whole thing. Plus knowing my luck something else will be an issue like a sheared bolt or brittle plastic that breaks. I don't have any power tools either. I'm not buying another Samsung again.

      @ApacheRanch  8 місяців тому +1

      You bring up great points. It is dismantling the entire thing essentially. The job does require some power tools. I wish you the best!

    very helpful! So, the bearings were fine on yours? i have a destroyed bearing and am working on trying to remove old ones and fit up the new ones.

    • @ApacheRanch
      @ApacheRanch  4 місяці тому +2

      Yes bearings were fine. I have changed those on a Maytag and they are not easy to get out without specific tools.

      It’s easy work. But just a LOT of steps to take it apart. But seemed like such a shame to ditch a working machine due to this issue. So I’m glad I fixed it.

      @ApacheRanch great video. Had this exact problem on a nearly identical washer. Great tips throughout (rabbit ears and socket size). Had mine apart and back together in a couple of hours (after parts arrived). Excellent work! Thank you!

      My washer is doing the same. But, it’s really old. I’m thinking by the time I fix this, other crap with wear out as they design them with a death date in mind.
