I have never seen a more beautiful woman than her, she had a transcendent beauty that no one can compare to in my opinion, I'm a teenage girl but I am fascinated with her, I was shocked when I first saw a picture of her I have seen such a beauty in my life.
    R.I.P Louise♡

I fell in love with Louise Brooks in the late 1970s through the Leacock interview and "Pandora's Box". I took my son to see "Pandora's Box" about ten years ago and never told him about Louise Brooks. As we were walking out I asked him what he thought - he said, "I think I'm in love". lol

Very, very well spoken/ stunning and rebellious. She lived her life the way she wanted to. Not many can say that. Beautiful woman in every sense of the word. RIP.

Her strong character was not loved at Hollywood. That is the poor reason, why Luise Brooks can only be seen on a few movies. A wounderful actress.

I agree- Louise never became a major movie star or a key player in Hollywood. She didn't want to play by the rules and made so many self destructive mistakes.
Her beauty was iconic -but, her best work was just three silent films done in Europe all the while America was raving about the talkies. Brook was too little and too late.

doliwsef she represented a threat to the patriarchy, a femme Fatale who was not just there to look pretty, she defined her career on her own terms

Her burial site is at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester, NY. Going north, she is located on the left side of the road in a nondescript marker on the ground. RIP, Louise. And, thank you! 1906 - 1985.

In 2014 Natalie Merchant wrote and recorded a beautiful song ('Lulu') as a tribute to Louise Brooks.

It's amazing how much fame she has gotten from essentially one film and a hairdo. I think she was languishing in cultural obscurity until her reputation was revived in a profile of her written by Kenneth Tynan in The New Yorker Magazine in 1979. She helped this re-evaluation along with some perceptive interviews, public speaking and writing she did near the end of her life. A stunning woman/actress to be sure, but the résumé is awful thin.

Well, the documentary IS from 1986. The interviews most likely were recorded before her death, I hope. ;)

Never quite clear? Ruth st Dennis dismissed her for " having a superior attitude." Her friend Barbara Bennett got her a job in the scandals.

Well they make her a badass. I feel she threw it away. She could've been a great actress. Imagine her in public enemy, or could you see that beautiful dollface in the bride of Frankenstein?

    • @wvanderwahl
      @wvanderwahl 3 роки тому +2

Interesting comment. Louise turned down that role in the Public Enemy which was a huge mistake on her part as she was perfect for the role, Instead the part went to Jean Harlow whose star was on the rise. Louise made her share of bad decisions.

LB was EXACTLY like Emma Hamilton (of Lord Nelson fame), a gorgeous and independent-minded woman 'WAY, 'WAY ahead of her time. If LB had been born in 1996 instead of 1906, things would have been SO different! Here's the movie made about Emma, "That Hamilton Woman":

She didn't age well. Hard to believe the old Louise Brooks is the same person.

    • @DiePolkaDots

She aged without surgery. With a certain grandeur. Her voice is young, what she says is young. Why can't older people look old? Beautiful smile. If you want to see someone who does not age well, look at Madonna....

Nobody really ages well. Makeup, etc. can partially mask getting old.
