Well I think your having a boy, and I’m jealous over your onions mine never get big just little ones, I had the best green onion crop this year and my carrots were quite small so yours is doing so good, I’m hopeful that you will feel better.

I grow my carrots in a 3x5 raised bed using square foot gardening spacing and they do great, block out weeds, and it's a year's worth for us. I hate trying to get root crops back out of the weed cloth.
This goes back to the early 1980s in Cheyenne. When there was going to be a hard frost or freeze that covering the tomatoes would protect, I would pull my tomato plants out of the ground and hang them upside down in the garage. The tomatoes would ripen on the vine. Is this method still used?

What fun memories! It sure is, but I find it very messy so cover them as long as I can and then call it quits 😊
I have been told to not cut the onion tops.
We have done both and have found equal sized bulbs so I’m not sure I would do it moving forward 😊
