  • Hydrofoiling is primarely seen as a racing, cruising and a bit of freeride discipline. Did you know that big air also has great potential on hydrofoil for those who dare to go massive on foil.

      Thx bro, yeah i know Toby and I assure you he knows me. We've been in contact over the years and both are attempting to push airstyle and getting it more accepted as a competition format. Toby though doesn't use Foilkites and surely no hydrofoil to do his tricks and I developed a style of my own.

      That will happen when hell freezes over. There are forces in the community unwilling to accept airstyle (twintip an hydrofoil ) as a competition format. I'm trying to prove them wrong for years. At least the audience loves it

    Honestly, I'm a little sad that there aren't any shots (like maybe drone shots) where the kite stays in the frame.
    Also, why did you choose a RAM/Foil kite that day, rather than a LEI? Just curious...

    • @sejalipe
      @sejalipe  Рік тому +1

      Why there aren't drone shots ask the GKA if they don't provide a pilot there are no shots. Ram air simply because of spot choice for the comp. Light poniente up and down wind just not enough to do a decent heat on lei's. They said is was 25 knots but most of the time it was 15 to 20 knots max. Only thing working Isa ram air. Just had one decent heat on a lei in my third round

    WOW! I want to be as good as you. Very impressive. Do you sheet the bar all the way in during your takeoff and jump? My Sonic3 kites stall when I pull in the bar regardless of how I trim the kite/bar. When I jump with a foil kite I can only sheet in about 1/2 way. Otherwise the kite will collapse in midair and drop me. Not sure of that's normal or not for foil kites. I'm pretty sure the soul kites don't do that but I've never tried the race'ier kites(other than sonic3) that are usually more finicky.

    • @sejalipe
      @sejalipe  2 роки тому

      Thx. about the sonic issue looks to me like a steering line setting, kite shouldn't respond by collapsing when sheeting in. If not steering lines ( to short ) i would advice doing a mixer test and adjust if needed. Of course I sheet in fully when I jump that's what you normally do but don't make the mistake to compare the Sonic to the Ozone R1V4 that's a machine on a different level. Also these race kites are more technical and very refined and delicate not for your everyday fun sesh. Race kites as the word says are primarily designed for race and not specifically for big air. I would say stick to the Sonic or you might wanna try the Ozone Chrono V4.

    Which size R1 would you advise for low wind hydrofoil and twintip big air? 13 or 15? And what how does the v3 compare to the v4?

    • @sejalipe
      @sejalipe  2 роки тому +1

      Well first what is low wind? I ride my 15 R1 up to 23 knots (not at launch but when I'm already out there). Second Ozone doesn't want to promote the R1 as a big air kite since it's developed as a machine purely intended for race. But I do different stuff on it, true. I would suggest using it for hydrofoiling in the recommended wind range. It's a delicate kite, a knot or stick in the bridle can rip the kite at an uneven load. Best use the Chrono for the big air stuff.
      I personally like the R1 13 best because it doesn't overfly and keeps in front of you during jumps and tricks.

      I respectfully disagree, yes I can do this with foil and twintip and yes a foilkite has lots of hangtime but so far I see nobody do this kind of airstyle with a hydrofoil and there's a big difference in handling a hydrofoil like this versus a twintip board
