  • SOLIDWORKS CAM and CAMWORKS are great tools for programming your parts right inside of SOLIDWORKS. 4 axis indexing is a great way for programmers to efficiently machine their parts, saving lots of time otherwise spent babysitting parts.
4 axis indexing only requires a few additional steps to apply the great 3 axis programming SOLIDWORKS CAM and CAMWORKS provides.
This video will focus exclusively on the additional steps and procedures required to take advantage of the great functionality that a 4th axis can provide.

Hello GoEngineer, is SolidWorks CAM (2021 - 2022) compatible with 4 Axis, Datron Neo Series 2 Machines? the machine is a 4-Axis machine, i just would like to be sure that SolidWorks could be a right choice for us, or we can start thinking about other options, like MasterCam. Thanks in advance.

This machine would be compatible, but we recommend meeting with one of our CAM experts to discuss your unique machine specifications and machining needs. Reach out to GoEngineer as we would be happy to discuss what is capable with the SolidWorks CAM and CAMWorks software.

Its hard to tell without digging into your set up, Most likely it is an issue with the post processor. Contact your VARS technical support team and they can help more directly.

    What postprocessor you used?

The post processor used in this video was generic, and not specific to any machine or controller, as it wasn’t necessary to the workflow. SolidWorks CAM and CAMWorks come with several common post processors, but GoEngineer recommends and offers a custom post processor tailored to your specific machine.
