      I've done a dry start with seeds in an aquarium! I just used Fluval Stratum and some driftwood in an large eclipse vase and waited about 2 weeks before adding water. The only inhabitants I put in it were Endler Guppies, Blue Dream Neos and Amano Shrimp, but they are still alive and thriving! All I've done to maintain it is top it off since I finished it, and that was a year and a half ago... :P

    um, yeah i'll scrap off the whole carpet soon, not only i started with the cuba, but as a beginner, i dry grow it from seeds (which i failed so hard because it grows mold during the germination process and i didnt know that it will stay even when i added water). thanks for the video, although its 2 years ago, but this is quite helpful.

    Thanks for sharing your tips. Very clear, straight to the point, and thorough. Wondering you have have tips for growing UG successfully?

    • @MJAquascaping
      @MJAquascaping  3 роки тому +1

      I don't have a lot of experience with UG yet, but this is what I would suggest: First choose a good quality substrate like ADA, Tropica or Aquario. Then cycle the soil first by doing a ''dark start'' for 3 weeks or so. Then start planting, and make sure you plant it very deep in the soil. Then use a liquid fertilizer with very little to no nitrates. Some floating plants also help to get rid of excess nutrients.

    The thing about Glosso, you can grow it without Co2 in a smaller nano aquarium (things like a 9 lt or the betta show tanks) and grow them will with bright indirect sunlight coming into your aquarium (ie next to a window - not infront of it). It does take longer but the plant has less of a tendency to die back when it's not forced to grow rapidly.

      Do you have a thick enough layer of substrate to plant in? I always use tweezers to plant, and when I release the plant I push some substrate “on top off” the plant, if that makes sense..

    Glossostigma is supposed to be one of the easier ones to grow.

    • @meikahidenori
      @meikahidenori Рік тому

      Depends. If you want it to grow fast you have to be aware of rapid die off as well. I find it grows quite well under warmer lights though I also have my tank on a desk near a window and it gets indirect sunlight so where the tank is in the sun more I have beautiful glosso all on that one side. But that said people do struggle with even beginner level plants (I know I do, especially with Java fern) aquatic plants are a like house plants - they don't always live for everyone.
