Guys if you use MRA Navigation you can select to use Garmin or Tom Tom to calculate your routes and it works through Carplay. There has been a couple of times on my XT that it wouldn't take me down a particular road as if the road had an obstruction but with MRA you can just opt to use Tom Tom mapping. There is usually a trial period so worth a try.
thanks for the tip buddy. We have used MRA for a few years now and is a great app, and we regularly use the tomtom and garmin layers to calculate the route, but now you have me thinking that if i set garmin as the map it will follow as if it was a garmin when using carplay. will have to experiment :)
Given that you’ve now used both now, as for quality, integration and ease of use. The OEM connected ride nav system or this? Given that you’ve can send routes etc from you map app on your phone to the BMW system.
Chigee all the way to be honest. So much more versatile than anything else. Although I have the garmin XT as a back up just in case I’m in an area with no cell coverage.
Great vid as usual , thanks. I've got used to using the BMW Connected app as a backup to my Nav iV, so I can definitely see the advantage in having the Chigee. You can use the Connected app as your GPS, with turn by turn on the BMW display, the mapping on your phone using Quad Lock and the choice of using Google Maps and the like on the Chigee screen. A more cost effective reason to ditch the BMW Nav iV at last.
It will fit the BMW 1200 RT if you have the sat prep and will be plug and play. I will test on Barney and see if the functionality works with the wheel. On the 2023 version RT I have the unit works flawlessly although it does not allow you to switch from TFT to NAV which is a real pain. But on the older models of RT it should work
As someone who struggled reading the speedo on a late model non TFT GS, this would have been superb. I have tried MRA navigation and TomTom go on android auto. MRA is getting better but still lacks functionality, TomTom go is poor, therefore I am sticking with Garmin XT for tours.
Used the code. Thanks fellas! Does this thing have a battery? I've left on a 1A charger for most of the day but nowt work when I try to switch it on. Cheers.
The comfort of the AIO-5 Play for BMW plus a covenient integration of the 2 cameras and a bigger screen ... that would be my dream solution ! Is that possible ?
I’m wondering if this is a better idea than the Garmin xt. I do like the speed cameras functionality in the Garmin pitty google maps doesn’t have that functionality.
A new set of blue tooth cameras for the bmw version would hopfully be the next step. The cameras being hard wired to the bike due to voltage limitations.
That's very impressive. BMW should pay Chigee to make their Nav App! Comes to something when a 3rd party can make better integrated products than the company that created the bike ☹
You don't understand the concept of a Chigee: it is not a navigator, it is only mirrorring (sort of) the apps that you installed on your phone via Android Auto or Carply.😊
@@CharlieMirakel I fully understand the concept of these units. That's my point, why reinvent the wheel when everyone already has a phone with Android Auto/Car Play.
Hello. So I have bought one of these.Really happy with it but there is no info on the battery and how to manage the battery. I leave the unit on my bike in the cradle. I don't ride every day. When I do ride and the Chigee starts up it says "low battery". Not really a problem yet because it is new but won't there be a deterioration issue with the battery if I keep doing this. There is no info/instructions on this. Should the unit be removed from the bike when not riding?
Thanks. Perhaps I wasn't clear or don't understand. In this specific video they look to be both mounted together on the same bike (GS). If the footage captured the backside of the devices, I could tell. Hope this makes more sense. I sincerely appreciate the "cycles" and again LOVE the channel!!
Hi Great video.. can you still have your BMW connected ride app running in the background and how do you pair with Senna SRL3 (i guess the same way as you do with the Connected ride app ?)
Not sure buddy. I think I saw a post on Facebook on the Chigee global account that some one was doing just that without issue but I never use the BMW connected app purely cause I don’t like it 🤣
I currently place my phone into the cradle for navigation and music, it charges at the same time, could you tell me the advantages of having this instead?
There is more: - waterproof - BMW wonder wheel works - 5 inch screen is still small (not much bigger then my Android Phone) - Google Assistent does not work while using a bluetooth headset (Chigee is working on this) - if you have an iPhone: go for it - if you have an Android Phone > check Chigee support forum about Google Assistent support before you buy one - you still need to use (and charge via USB) your phone and connect it wireless to the Chigee - when using MRA and some other apps, you need to set a route on your phone first, then put your phone away - if you want to change your route, you need to stop and park your bike and get your phone
Great video as always chaps. Someones mentioned MRA below, does the MRA app on your phone work with CarPlay? I normally upload gpx routes from the app on my phone to my XT which is seamless and easy to do. Having applecar play would be great but if I can't use MRA the chigee is a no go for me
it does drain the battery and with an iphone 15 pro max using it all day, it drained the battery to about 50% so not too bad, although i made sure that my phone had somewhere to charge just in case.
@@RiderCamTV thanks for info, it doesn't sound very bad than! Just made a pledge on kickstarter for BMW Chingee :) I always have cable at the ready and USB socket on my F 750 GS. Looking forward to try it out since i have BMW GPS holder for the car as well :)
So to run this in parallel with the Nav5 or Nav6 I can simply add a lossfree mount? Is that a Chigee item? I would like to run the Chigee in the BMW cradles of my R1200 GSA and my 2012 K1600 while running a Nav6 alongside. The Nav6 doesnt need to work with the wheel, Im happy to use touch on it. How would I go about making this work?
Ok, I'm curious about this... Around $499 = £389 roughly. Not a bad price considering the alternatives as you mentioned. Sorry guys your discount doesn't work.
I hate the fonts that it uses, and I don't understand why it duplicates the main info from the TFT (speed, RPM - even using a tachometer that looks almost exactly like the one on the TFT), but outside of that, it looks pretty amazing. I don't know if I can justify the extra expense for the BMW navigator, even though I want a discrete GPS, rather than using a phone app.
not for everyone, although i think that the information that they show from the BMW bikes is replicating the information that the NAV6 had. Just shows that if a company puts their minds to it they can move the tech envelope forward and away from proprietary products i guess :)
Hello, l love your channel. I have a question. When navigating with Waze or Google Maps, Chigee uses the iPhone's microphone and not that of the headset. Yes buddy. You need the phone connected as it mirrors the content to the device in CarPlay or android auto. It takes the data from your phone and doesn’t store anything on the device itself. If you are using offline maps, they will be on your phone and therefore you need to connect it to the Chigee. Unless you connect the phone to the Chigee it won’t display your apps
