MAJOR PROBLEMS
With the 2024 BMW R 1300 GS
Please Stay tuned for my BMW R 1300 GS review and ride test.
Is it better than the R 1250 GS? 2024 BMW R1300 GS Specs
Powering the BMW R1300 GS is a larger 1300cc boxer-twin engine. It will have 10 more horses than the outgoing model. The peak power and torque output are 146 Bhp and 150 Nm respectively. Underpinning, the R1300 GS is a new chassis with an aluminium subframe and 10KG Lighter. Cant wait to hear the start up sound. The 2024 R 1300 will be a beast.
Is it better than the Ducati MultiStrada V4S, Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Pro or the KTM Super adventure S. Is the Honda Africa Twin in the conversation?
THE BMW R 1300 GS fortnine style
Face every incline and turn with ease. Nothing can stop you, especially off-road with the new R 1300 GS. With a powerful drive system, set new standards and live out the #SpiritOfGS.

The 1300 GS long term review 6 months later. Can't wait for the 1300 GS Adventure - Авто та транспорт
WTF you made 😂 me laugh so much you are bang in the truth !
The Legend 🙌
My conclusion was that the 1250 is 'PEAK GS' and the 1300 is a totally new bike and will have to fight to retain/gain it position. Also, same as software, never buy v1.0 of anything.
YEP!
that's it
came for this comment. absolutely. big changes always come with issues
Having done the whole adventure bike thing, nothing beats a comfortable car with aircon, heated seats for long journeys in any season.
Lol
Mammy, that man is shouting at his motorbike in the park…😅
That’s what those strange looks were
That's funny because I don't have one but now I'm getting one! This video made me do it.
👍 let’s us know how it goes
Been watching you for a while, you never fail to make me smile, great video 🏴
Legend! Woof
A lot of noise …..My GS 1300 triple black works just fine 🤞
Awesome to hear ;)
Making mountains out of mole hills is what social media is all about. The Triumph Tiger gets 💩 on quite often. And it's mostly by people that have never even ridden one. You get used to it. 😂
My 1300gs trophy has been amazing.
Because it's still new....
@AurelSer Absolutely, well 1st edition normally has issues with usage that does not show during testing phase. Will wait and see 🤞🏻
Haha just loved the way you ripped the 1300GS 🤣🤣
Have a good one mate
@@thefika I recently bought a R1250GS and I’m not so happy with it. All kind of warnings and messages on the screen and battery problems. I didn’t have any issues with my previous S1000XR. It is very close I’ll sell the bike and buy something else. Probably a triumph tiger.
Great stuff, Aussie humour is the best! 🐨 😂
I’ve spent more hours than I want to admit, watching Randy Feltface- and Jim Jeffries videos haha
Cheers from 🇸🇪!
Thanks 🙏 mate. Come down here Bruv
Not a single one for sale second hand here in New England, USA.
You guys got these late right"?
@@thefika yesm finally showed up in March of 2024 state side. Maybe give it time. Bought my 2023 1250 GS in November 2023, and I'm tall, 6'5" and not going to let it go, it's everything i want in a bike.
You took all the words right out of my mouth 🤣 Great video - easy sub!
Champion :)
His agenda is determined by UA-cam algorithm. 😂😂😂
The Mega Bucks you get on UA-cam. I’m hoping I can get some Corn Flakes
If you knew how little youtubers make at this subscriber count lol
Interesting, but more details are required to describe better the issues, looks like it's just a smear of the bike. Here in France I never heard about this massive will of the owners to sell their 1300 GS, I'm keeping mine for now.
Look in a GS Facebook group. There are more than I mentioned
Come take a look in The Netherlands. There's practically zero 1300 owners that sell them...
I'm a BMW hater too but we need to keep it honest.
I'm in a few groups about the bmw gs 1250 and 1300 in france, and they are definitely known for being unreliable, by the owners. In france people dont buy second hand until the price is right. Wait that the warranty expire and you will see a lot to sell.
So, in 3 years......That's not a prediction, that's a certainty.
BMW is really unreliable for sure. But the sell like nothing else.
theres going to be a lot of angry people in starbucks after this video!😂
lol and don’t they let me know about it :)
I been riding a GS for many years. Starbucks sucks and I bet you believe in that "Karen" bull shit too. There is life off the internet, Get one people!
Funny… I’m not selling my 1300. Zero issues with mine so far👍😎 spot on everywhere else. Lol
That is awesome to hear mate 👍 Keep me posted
@thefika I reckon. They are getting too fn big though. 1400cc? Ridiculous.
@@thefika I will let you know if I have any problems! 👍
That was an inspired rant! In fact, it was the mother of all rants but quite funny. Well done!
My man. Have a great day
Dealers getting rid of bad demos only turn into buyers who are pissed and light up social media complaining. They don’t need that either.
True!
You're missing the whole point here, mate, all the issues you're harping about are called character! Indeed Euro_bike character, Welcome to the new generation of European -made machines.
heheheh
Tell me how you really feel,, lol.. love it.. Cheers,ed
Have a great day mate
I've got more issues with how annoying the presenter is than I've personally seen with a 1300GS.
Thank you. Glad your annoyed 👌
@@thefika 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Posses the question why you watched it, doesn't it?
@@bjjw I was wondering what issues other people had with the motorcycle. The regret for clicking is real.
I tried, I really tried but could not listen to this presenter.
Yep. I bought one.
Wish I had kept my 1250.
Pretty gutted to be honest.
You should make a video on that.
Lots of people would be interested.
Thanks for sharing
I will mate. To friken cold here at the moment. 🥶 🥶
This guy gets all torqued up about everything. Kinda fun, thanks for perspective. I've got a 2005, coming on 100K Freedom miles. Love it. Been really pretty good to me. Upgraded the bits I need to. 5 stars. Never gotten the shaft, the shaft has always been good. Peace friend.
Have a great day mate
I have an old banger 1200GS. I am going to replace it this year. ... But! The number of bad reviews I have seen about the 1300 means that it will not be replaced by one of those bikes.
Maybe a 2017 1200GS might be on the books and skip all the rest of the bollocks. :)
If your old banger is working. Why not keep it. 1200 is King
OMG you're hilarious!! I hope you get a million views!
Very kind of you to say so.
Have a great day
I hope ya get more traffic! I just popped your link onto The Missenden Flyers comment page 😊
@@wandering_armadillo May thanks. 🙏
Looking forward to the 900GS video.
Cause it's not always about the shaft.
hahah Nice
is it necessary to add adaptive height control option for a 185cm man?
No but its one of the best features. it makes it much easier to handle
Was hoping to know what you really think about the 1300…?
I hope i did mate
Being sarcastic. Tell it like it is… Love it!
Hi I've had my R1300GS Trophy Enduro equipped with high suspension and forged wheels 8 months now and no issues riding in salty roads in Scotland.
#Caledonian Biker
Haha 😂 brilliant mate! Notice everyone crying that their bikes are fine ! Chill out gang! It's just a funny review on UA-cam. If your bikes are fine, Great!
Thats exactly my thoughts. Have a great day mate.
@@thefika You too pal.
Where did you get that "Spirit of GS" shirt?
At the GS Experience
Back in 2020, KTM announced the new 2021 1290SAS. I had had my eye on the old one and after a raft of early problems, things seemed to be improving. By October, there were a lot of unsold 2020 bikes in the dealerships, so after playing one off against another, I got a new bike (not a demo) for a bargain price and I have to say it is terrific and after 3 1/2 years, I have had no problems at all. I think you are right, best to get the last of the old than the first of the new, which is a nuisance because I fancy the upcoming 2025 RAV4, but may have to wait a couple of years to get one.
Thanks for sharing that
Love my 1300GS as well, no issues with the bike as yet, the panniers however… now thats a different story!!! Admittedly as you said I don’t have the adaptive ride height…
Thanks for sharing the info mate. It’s good to hear
I was looking at buying that demo bike, not now, thanks for the intel!
Just go to the bmw motorrad website on the in stock now section. Pick a 1300 out. It will have everything on it. Then ask for a deal. You will get it cheaper than if you just ticked a few boxes
@@thefika cheers, thinking now of updating to the 900GS enduro rather than the 1300GS👍🏽 Love ya videos and the honesty
Who'se yer dealer and how long does the high last mate?
Gotta get me some of that gear...
It’s good stuff Bruv
We have 5 years guaranty also here in Romania. Purchased one of the last Gsa 1250 made last year
The only way to fly
Yeahhh, not so much. I'd think the grand majority of people buying the new GS, understand who BMW is. Just like their tanks in WW2, they became the most advanced, but their reliability not so good. And, hard to work on. But that engineering is incredible.
Their cars are the same. You don't want one three years or older for sure.
I agree with most of that but we have other brands with new platforms in recent years to compare too. As I said add all their issues up and still the 1300……
We also get 5 years in Bulgaria. I had to pay for the extended warranty but it was €130, so it's a no-brainer, I don't think anyone has ever not paid for it.
Awesome to know
My clutch went out on my R 1300 GS stranding me 450 miles from home.
Wow. really. You burnt it our or it failed?
I love the way folk get annoyed with ya! Specially GS owners! Keep up the good work mate.👍🏻
I’m not trying to annoy people but yer.
They need to drink some cement and harden up
@@thefika yep! Too precious..need to get Sence of humour..bless.
Full floating rotors on the forged wheels could be causing the squeaking.
That’s interesting:)
My mean green 1300 is a great sporty cruiser. I've never liked the look of a boxer, but as soon as I test-rode the torque monster, I was sold! This thing likes the corners much more than previous versions. Two-up, with the adaptive ride height, my wife is a happy camper. I can only guess BMW shrank the dimensions and upped power to attract a newer, shorter demographic😉 Heck, how many GS owners REALLY take their bikes offroad?? Still waiting for my top box...
Noice
I love hearing good stories much more than negative ones:)
Thats the right bike for sports touring 100%
Thanks for telling the TRUTH -not blowing sunshine up everyone's hoo-ha!😂
Woof
I saw in a BMW shaft service video the guy reckoned that the shaft drives on BMWs are not rated for more powerful motors than 850cc
Well well
CarPlay on my ATAS is damn amazing. I ve got it wireless
awesome
a US market with used 1300 GS would be sweet
You guys got it later than us Convicts. Crazy. How is the 1300 being received over there?
@@thefika looks like shite to me
lmao, nice vid mate.
Thanks mate
I've still got my old 70's R100RS with low km's sitting in my shed. I think I'll convert it to a Paris/Dakar GS....... At least l can work on it myself.
Wow. The real deal. You’re one lucky guy
Three GS's in the last 16 years and an 1150. I spent a weekend on a 1300 and I have to say it's the only GS I've been on that I didn't like. I'm not bashing it, I just didn't like it. My favorite is the 2009, it just keeps going, and it feels like it has way more room than the 1300 to me.
Right on Bruv
I am so glad that quality of BMW bikes is on par with their cars 😅
You know it
I've made a video about my GSA 2018 (it's in Polish language) pointing out all the problems I had and what a hate I received. People generally do not want to think about GSes in that way, their minds are blocked somehow. I had to sell my GS as I could not longer live with the amount of issues it has, and it only had 6k miles on the clock.
Yep. People cant handle the truth
I like this guy, kind a guy you want to grab a pint with.
Ah mate. Let’s go!!!
@@thefika whenever you can come for a ride in the south of France, we will catch up :D
The last of the old will always beat the first of the new. 🆕
Another quote from Carroll Smith. Horsepower sell cars but Torque wins races
19:54 Life Is A Ride Motorcycle Tours in case anyone is wondering... and didn't notice the pinned comment (like me lol).
Hehehe 🤣 champion
Here in US I could only find a couple used ones for not much less than the msrp. At least BMW stand behind their warranty, unlike KTM.
Also, it’s annoying how youtubers bashing the new cars and bikes for being overpriced and not reliable, new Toyota line for example. Yes, they are expensive, but that’s what it takes to build something nowadays with all the technologies that people want and government demands.
Yep. KTM cam job dodgers
The problem is these machines really are *CRAZY* overpriced tho. Who in their right mind spends $30,000 US Dollars for an off road bike to be taken off road? These are machines that are expected to be busted up but then *FIXABLE* so just don't get this in the first instance...but marketing of the item is spectacular. People buy them then defend the purchase with a "no problem with mine!" response. The whole point of these machines is that they will be crashed but can then be put back together. Meanwhile CF Moto is really challenging in all the right ways the purpose of having these types of machines. Anyhow your money to spend I won't argue with that part. Great UA-cam product here tho is an understatement..
It is expensive but I wouldn’t call it an off-road vehicle, and I wouldn’t use it for any serious off-road. I personally stick to 230lb 2 stroke bikes for that.
The older GS - The 1250 and below are true GS's. This 1300 caters to my kids. Next gen will look a RR with dirt tyres.
Something in that
Keep oil in the shaft?
Better then spraying it everywhere 😛
Listening to him, I ended counting the « fuck » more than listening anything else 😀
How many Bro?
I have a Moto Guzzi V85tt and the 19-20 models had a “ Shaft “ 😂, over fill issue , other than that my 2021 model only one small issue “ and it’s a Moto Guzzi ! with a “ shaft “😂😂😂
heeheh Mumma Mia
Ridden the 1300 in the Welsch back country (think muddy ruts, gravel roads, river crossings etc) I also just bought a 2024 R1250 GSA, upgraded from my 1200 GSA.
I test rode the 1300 before I bought the 1250 and agreed with a lot of what you say BUT after putting the 1300 GSA through some of the toughest riding terrain, which I have also done on a 1250. The 1300 is just a bit better everywhere.
I also still prefer lots of things about the 1250.
Its all personal preference.... and you never ever buy first generation of a new car/bike.
The 900 is a weapon as well!
That’s great man. Good to hear from you
5 year warranty on the shaft, everyone's a winner.
My shaft is dead and is only for weeing
Lots of views and comments, mission accomplished.
Have a great day mate
I will go for the ducati ms v4 rally.
Ah man. What a weapon
Ya…. There’s not a single used 1300gs around me for sale. Even a few thousand mile away searches. 0.
Put 300 miles on mine the first day and was perfect. 200 more yesterday and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
My Pan America… Now that’s a different story. Was in the shop 4 times in the first 1k miles and left me stranded 5 times. The biggest piece of junk bike I’ve ever put in my garage. Thankfully, i got rid of it.
I’ll never own another Harley again.
Thanks for sharing this
There are virtually none for sale here in France. It seems that you have some sort of axe to grind.
Thanks for letting me know the the France situation. I have a chainsaw not an axe.
so many "fark"s, I love it
Wooof!
Ich hatte eine 1200er GS und eine 1250 er danach kaufte sich eine Africa Twin 1100 und bin glücklich
Yesd
When you, like myself, are used to KTM, nothing can scare you😉
True that
best bike ever made.
Yes Sir
I knew this would get the GS owners as tight as a spring and just about to blow a blood vessel , 3:31 they have the thinnest skins in the biking world when it comes to constructive criticism of their bikes just a generalisation you understand lol.Ten thousand miles on my Pan America Special with no problems a awesome bike I love it😅
Thats awesome to hear mate. I had a few Pan America owners message me.
I love it
8 weeks in and 4000 miles ! No issues 🥱
Great to here mate
What is the worst year gs besides the 1300
Bmw are good at fixing most the issues. So most issues are fixed on older models
Demos: brand new engines and prospective buyers do a test drive and with no break-in, immediately bounce 'em off the rev limiter... And...
Motorman Break in the only way to fly
After riding the 1300....you could not give me a 1250.
Fair enough
Scotty Kilmer of motorcycles.
Legend
You should never buy a new BMW model from the very first production batch. You can buy that bike in 3 years when all issues are fixed
You tell em. woof
900GS looks a lot like Africa Twin Standard model.
Is that good or bad?
The impression I get is that the 1300 is a great bike for GS virgins....but not an upgrade for 1200/1250 owners. What were BMW thinking when they removed an obvious upgrade path for GS owners?
Only hope is the GS Adventure
The R1250 GS is the peak of the GS series in my not-so humble view.
And yes, i don't buy the first batch of anything...
Also the 1300 lost its road presence...not so muscular and look kinda timid.
Can I have fries with that?
Noice
Get ya sel a Harley-Davidson Pan America Special much better ,this will set the cat amongst the pigeons lol!
HD Big Dog 🐶
Pan America is a failed attempt at an adventure. Went thru 2 of them before letting it go for good. 4 shop visits first 1k miles. What a joke.
The bike is so unrefined for the price. Can never tell when it’s going to start or leave you stranded. Mediocre showa suspension that worked on and off.
Harley can’t get rid of them. 22k new and there’s tons of used ones around me going for 12k straight from Harley dealers lol. Nobody wants them. I know why now….
The biggest piece of junk of a bike that ever sat in my garage. Good riddance.
Been waiting a month for this latest irreverent slam on the new GS. Good God you are funny as hell. Laughed so many times. Makes me think BMW rushed production a wee bit ... about six months too soon. Glad I have my Tiger. 2024 Stelvio would be my second choice. Third choice, nah, none.

Thanks for sharing mate :)
There are a few demos for sale on Cycle Trader but none private party i dont think. a few with less than 700 miles only one has like 3k+ miles but damn they want $28k for the damn thing! These bikes are so pricey! I dont know if this is typical for such a new model or not but I will say there seems to be plenty of supply if anyone is shopping for a 1300 new or slightly used....again no private party bikes that saw. Damn Cycle trader wont let me search for pre owned only...only option is to check new or "new or used" the jerks. I remember when bikes such as the Tenere 700 first came out you could not find one for sale for the first couple years but they were a price point motorcycle on the other hand pricier but better KTM 790 and then 890 always seem to have been available so maybe it is just that way with expensive well appointed motorcycles in a market where motorcycles are not as popular as they once were? idk.
I think the motorcycle industry is in trouble. The deals they have now are crazy good. They can’t sell bikes atm
lol I do watch the video because he’s different. But all new bikes have problem lmao tell me one that come out and it doesn’t have problems. But for what it worth, my 1300gs is wonder, 1800 miles in. Maybe a few small issue here and there but over is great!
I so glad to hear this from multiple people.
I tried to say that just because there are issues doesn’t mean you will have them and you’re the proof
are you OK mate? you seem disturbed...
Thanks for asking. I’m epic
calm down mate:)
Fire up mate :)
The nine hundred looks like it has a broken beak
I do see 310 Gs in it
Hahahahah probably the best review on a 1300 gs 😂😂😂😂
Thanks mate
Bmw have done a good job keeping all these faults very quiet!!! So be careful pal cos bmw mint put a hit on ya !!! 😅😅🥳🥳👍
I’m confused! You spend 20 minutes slagging the R1300GS off then at the end you say you haven’t decided as whether to pull the trigger to get one. Also, is ‘fuck’ a mechanical term?
You can get help if you’re r confused. I will draw it in crayons next time
We don't all talk like this yobo 😅

Definitely noisy motor, my lawn mower runs smoother, apart from that the bikes awesome ! Ear plugs assort it out .
The 1300 IS Awesome. I agree

You should never buy the fist series bike...give it a year so they get rid of the bugs, then buy a series two.
There are a few thrill seekers out there 👍
5:35 and you are not telling me one issue. Just blowing hit air, but ok its Australia. And then you are reading from 2 papers about issues. Can you show them or are you just reading them from your paper and never had them. I have a 1250 GSA and a 1300GS. Both are great. No Problems at all on both of them.
No and the world feels better that your 1300 GS has no issues. The issues don't exist anymore. Well done ")
So, you bought a Harley .....
Yes for the Blue Oyster Bar Membership
Not sure why you love to play the clown while you are talking.
I just ended up completely exhausted after listening your screams.
Ah mate. Do you think you will pull through? At least you felt something.
There is plenty of the same boring vanilla videos of you need to fall asleep.
You really hate the 1300. Give it some time, the 1200 also had issues on release, as every bike. My 2014 had fading brakes, the pressure plate problem, etc. All fixed also its a 100k km bike. The worst problem of the 1300 is that is ugly. But not masculine ugly like the 1200, its just plain ugly.
I really like the 1300 GS. I’m glad it exists. I think The GSA if it’s a lot bigger maybe be then one
This is hilarious..... 😅
