In Capitan NM we wiukd go to , I forget the name of the place...a county office, and they would give us super powerful pro-grade vinegar and let us know to mix a tbsp of dawn per gallon so it sticks to the plants. About the only thing that could help to get rid of the goat heads.

I giggle that does cause. I remember you telling this story before, but Tawra. I have to say you are amazing. Who else But you would be so creative in making brownies and swapping it for lawn. You really encourage us to think outside of the box.

I love the story about the sod! ❤

Sounds like some sort of "sod story" about how you squeezed those pennies until they cried nickels. 😉👍
I use the vinegar weed killer too; works great.
You have some great ideas, and we appreciate you sharing them.
About the sod, as I used to tell my kids when they wondered about something someone was throwing away or seemed not to use anymore, "You never know until you ask."

I may have to try the vinegar tip in backyard. The local tree services will drop a whole truckload of wood chips off in your driveway for free if you don’t mind waiting until they do a job in your area. My problem is the delivery always seems in the peak of the summer heat in the south never in the fall or winter.

Some will and some won't. I had always gotten them for free and then one time I asked and they sent me a bill for $100!!!! Now I ask!

7:00 am great ideas, I just planted a 2 gal. Hydrangea with beautiful flowers, I water every evening, but by the end of the day all the flowers are laying on the ground from the sun and it looks like it won’t make it through the summer, will the water jug with holes help keep it alive or do you have a better idea?

Tawra, do you have any suggestions for keeping slugs and snails out of the garden? We get an insane amount of them where I live, and sadly, they ruined a lot of my crop last year. We used beer traps, which worked great, but even that wasn't enough and they were full each day. I don't drink, so buying such expensive items (even the cheapest beer!) was crazy expensive in the quantity I needed it to keep them down. Didn't really make the garden worth the savings of gardening.

You could mix some yeast, sugar and warm water and that would work too.

I’ve had that problem also, and I used egg shells and crush them up. When you get enough, just sprinkle them around your plant.

Maybe you can go to a local bar and if they’ve got leftover 🍺 tell them to put it the jug and you’ll come pick it up when it’s full?
