thank you for your channel and detailed videos, they are more inspiring than U2's official videos and performances often indeed:) please keep the channel...I also have taught myself some songs just by listening and trying over and over :) stay safe!
Leon, I use a Canon Vixia HFS10 in 30p HD mode. The Axe-Fx goes into the SPIDF input of the Fireface UC interface. The computer goes into the Fireface UC by way of USB 2.0. Then I use one of the stereo outputs of the Fireface and hook it into a SignVideo XLR-Pro camcorder mixer (2 inputs in stereo) and the SignVideo mixer goes right into the mic input of the camera. The camera needs this mixer to match the impedance and deal with mic power input issues.
Strange, thought I replied a while ago. Great catch. I missed this. I see it now. I will incorporate this into the detailed tutorial. I'm always up for suggestions. I'm not the expert here. Just learning as I produce these tutorials.
Hey, Michael, i've been following you for quite a while a while now, and i just joined the forums, can you please tell me how i can reach the backing tracks, not only for this song, Thanx in advance, you're a great player and teacher.
As always an excellent cover of all i want is you - best on youtube , can you please tell me where to get the backing track from that you used for this cover, looking forward to more videos as ive learned so much from your previous posts = thanks
nice rendition Michael! ...just one suggestion if you don't mind (not a critic): I think Edge starts with an upstroke for the main riff. You can see it clearly in various live videos... (aiwiy live from sidney from the LCTT tour is an example) ;)
Hey Michael, I dove in an purchased the Axe FX2 it comes today! I have an quite environment as well. Can you tell me what you would recommend for power amp and cab or no power amp, studio monitor, etc. I want to take maximum advantage of cab and amp modeling... I only play in my living room or bedroom for myself. Thanks!!
Hi Michael, Can you please take a few minutes to explain how you can adjust the Drive using a MIDI controller? I am using a Liquid Foot JR and AXE FX Ultra. I am working around this by using complete separate presets! Thanks
Sorry, I just don't have the time to do vids on general questions about the Axe. The Fractal forum and manual has this answer. See the brackets below the drive knob? That means you can add a controller to the drive knob. Hit enter and select a source (expression pedal, LFO, etc). Then when you move your expression pedal you will change drive. I prefer having an X and Y drive with different settings and toggling between them.
I used multi-delay, filter and heavy reverb. I did the same in reverb. The MTD has four delay times and each can be pitch shifted without adding a separate pitch shift block. I shifted two of the four delays up 12 (one octave).
The FIreface UC interface is expensive but one of the best out there. Very high quality and comes with powerful mixing software. Perfect for use with Axe-Fx.
Hi Michael. I've been following your videos for some time now. As usual, what a phenomenal job you do. I just want you to know how much you really help me learning to play these great songs. For this song, where did you get the backing track from? I can't locate the correct website. I've learned a lot and want play along with the tune. Keep up the great work!
Intro and Outro music are always from the same song (I take two clips from a selected song and use them through the entire tutorial. This is one of my new favorites from Keith Urban called "For You" from the "Act of Valor" move sound track. Great feel/melody in this song. It builds up like "Where the Streets Have No Name." Love the guitar.
I have dynaAudio monitors. But I mostly use my BeyerDynamic headphones (I live in an apartment). LOTs of opinion on this topic. I suggest the Fractal forum. I'm not an expert on this.
I use the Fractal Audio Axe-Fx II which includes the most sophisticated amp modeling technology in the world. I don't use a real amp. I connect into an interface through digital SPDF and then direct into my video camera. It's all real time. I don't have to match video with audio later. The backtrack comes from Logic Pro and goes from computer to the same interface (where it's mixed with guitar signal and sent to camcorder).
I came across your tutorials and loved your teaching style, I immediately subscribed so I could be notified when the "ONE" song I've been working on, comes into your fabulous selection of U2 songs. Will you be adding it soon??
One of my fave U2 songs of all time. Hey what CD is that Slane Castle version from? never heard this and I have almost ALL the U2 CDs and singles and extra stuff when I was in their fan club.
Hey M, a year ago you explained to me...;" The Axe-Fx goes into the SPIDF input of the Fireface UC interface. The computer goes into the Fireface UC by way of USB 2.0. Then I use one of the stereo outputs of the Fireface and hook it into a SignVideo XLR-Pro camcorder mixer (2 inputs in stereo) and the SignVideo mixer goes right into the mic input of the camera." Now I'm finally at this point, but from the stereo output to the mixer ( 2 inputs in stereo), do you use both aux 1 and 2 on the XLR adapter, and should it be line or mic? Sorry for botherin' you...
Can I ak you what kind of camera you have? What I wanna know is where to connect the cable from the interface into the camera? Is it usb or audio-in on the camera? grtzzz Leon
I have a midi foot controller, although I rarely use it. I use Logic Pro on my Mac to send the midi changes to my rack equipment. You can program the midi track right next to the backtrack and Logic sends the commands automatically while the backtrack is playing. It's an "auto Dallas." ;-)
And is the woodstock pups on all three positions? and are they the pups on your strat used in the other clips excluding the hotrail strat used in UV and WOWY?
Sorry, I've never used a GT-10. You need the right sounding AC-30 amp or amp model. Then you need a decent Strat in quack position and a quality modulated delay (Boss DD20 is a good example). I use the Axe-Fx II amp modeling which is the best digital amp modeling on this planet.
Sorry for the inconvenience, I'm from Brazil, but I didn't understand what you meant about: "verge of break-up". I'm buying an AC30 and do you know if there is too much difference between the oldies and the new brand one Greenback? Thanks!!
+U2 Guitar Tutorials Hi Michael, please man! The Fly Tutorial! In the "The Fly", does The Edge use some Auto Wah or Phaser (???) during the song, beyond the solo?
+Christiano Hermida It means setting the drive on the amp to be set so that when you play lightly, it sounds clean, but when you play normally, it has a little bit of grit and when you play hard, it starts to distort a little bit. You want the preamp drive to not be set to high or low.
This is your only video that wont play on my phone and its the only one i need to play on my phone :-( Any chance u could remedy this plz? Love your vids!
You've probably heard this from many people but after Out of Control and All I Want Is You could you do something heavier like The Fly or something really cool like Zooropa. Also: A show of hands, who's getting the new U2.com exclusive live album U22? Gonna be so awesome.
No idea. My tech just sets them as he sees fit. I just tell him to set them generally as close as possible, but within his normal range based on his expertise.
You are incredible Michael, thanks for this hundreds vids for us, long life to people like you!!!!
Excellent! Many thanks to you, Michael, for this and all the other great U-2 song tutorials!
U2GuitarTutorials ... THANKS FOR UPLOADING THIS VID.. YOU'RE GREAT!!

Dude, you rule! Thank you for this channel! I hope you're making new videos! :)
Thanks a ton. I also use the Axe FX II and my band decided to do some U2 so this is a huge help!
Yep! I go to Paris on business about once a year. One of my favorite cities in the world!
Kinmans will sound great in any guitar!
thank you for your channel and detailed videos, they are more inspiring than U2's official videos and performances often indeed:) please keep the channel...I also have taught myself some songs just by listening and trying over and over :) stay safe!
Absolutely awesome! Brilliant, thank you!
Keep 'em coming Michael. Your doing great!
The very BEST !!!!!!!!!!! Ever
only one word!! PERFECT....greetings from italy!
Thank you! Don't worry, I've have many more I want to learn.
Fantastic job, Michael. I love it. Great sounds and playing. Great choice of song also. EWB
Great Michael! Great sound, again!
And only one delay here.
Thanks for sharing.
One will be within the next two or three tutorials for sure.

Michael. You are a genius!!!
Great catch. I definitely missed that. I can hear it now. I'll explain that in the tutorial.

Now it's clear to me.

Love the new intro tune
What is the intro song with the cool slide? I can't place it!
Keith Urban's "For You" from the "Act of Valor" soundtrack. The outro is also part of the same song. Great tune! Love the guitar tone.
This is incredible!

ottimo lavoro !!
Maybe the processed video is not available yet for mobile. Give it some time.
I think UA-cam is blocking it because it's being monetized by them. What country are you in?

Lovely work. Where is the backing track available?
Brilliant! Thanks
Thx! Yes, you can. See manual and Fractal forum. Tons of info on forum on this if you have an issue.
Absolutely! Will they let me in?

hi great demo! very helpful. By the way whats the U2 track in the demo at the start?
Hey Michael, do you think the Kinmans will sound in a Mex Ash Strat '70 reisue also this good? Have you heard or know this?
Grtzzz Leon
Send a forum private email to administrators and they will provide info.
How do you record your videos and get it sounding like it came out of the amp? What sought of software or gear mainly??
When you add a shimmer effect do you use the multi delay or pitch shifting like in WOWY?
hey great cover, where can i get the backing track

Great cover :) can you send me link for backing track (from Slane)
Very good! Please where can I take this live version Backing Track??
Register at the forum: forum dot u2guitartutorials dot com
U2 Guitar Tutorials I registered, I did. Now, how can I take this Backing Track? Thanks!
Christiano Hermida After your registration is accepted (may take a couple days), then email an admin and we will send instructions.
no used amp? only direct recording?
Hi! Please, when you use the Vox AC30 for U2 songs, what channel do you use normally? Normal/Clean or TopBoost? Thanks!!!!
+Christiano Hermida Top boost. But the mid range tone and setting the amp up just on the verge of break-up is also key.
Sorry for the inconvenience, I'm from Brazil, but I didn't understand what you meant about: "verge of break-up". I'm buying an AC30 and do you know if there is too much difference between the oldies and the new brand one Greenback? Thanks!!

OK!! Thanks!
Sounds pretty good! The only thing is that the drive at 3:24 sounds a little too lo-fi. I can't tell what it is. Just doesn't sound very 'chimey'.
This is your only video that wont play on my phone and its the only one i need to play on my phone :-(
Any chance u could remedy this plz? Love your vids!
No playback on iphone?
WHOA. I am not used to having quiet music in the intro slides...
Me Too...Thanks!
You've probably heard this from many people but after Out of Control and All I Want Is You could you do something heavier like The Fly or something really cool like Zooropa.
Also: A show of hands, who's getting the new U2.com exclusive live album U22? Gonna be so awesome.
Is the backing track the Milano version?
+Samy Khatib I don't remember. I might mention it in the other parts of the tutorial. It could be.
Thx, but I definitely don't have Edge's "touch." I just do the best I can interpreting what I hear.
I tried on ipad yesterday and it still didn't work.
Thx! I suggest you join the forum for more info:

For some weird reason this doesn't play on iPhone. Technology it's odd
Don't check every hour. I need to finish Out of Control first. Will take a few weeks before I get to this.
Yes, only one delay here.
Never mind, you said it at the bottom. Peace
No playback on iPad either
Roland Garros t-shirt? :)
Please please please .... do the tutorial. I want to play it for my wife ... But pssst, it should be surprise... :)
Yeah.Finaly demonstrate tones, always demonstrate please. We want listen your tones.
No idea. My tech just sets them as he sees fit. I just tell him to set them generally as close as possible, but within his normal range based on his expertise.
nice work man! very to close to The Edge sound
i think sometimes you play better than U2 but you never say the real secret behind edge's touch... ;)
