Ep4. Install Pond Liner and Seal Folds In Fish Pond

  • Finally I am able to complete installation of epdm firestone pond liner and it is the fourth upload in my 'Backyard Garden Pond' series. I must admit it requires a lot of patience to install a pond liner and remove or hide or seal the liner folds. Practicing on paper doesn't help much and a liner inside a rectangular pond makes it even hard. But nothing better than completing it properly with a peace of mind that no debris will be trapped behind large folds in the liner and there won't be any dead spots in the liner of the backyard fish pond.
    This video will show you how I have installed 1.1mm epdm firestone pond liner and how I have folded the corners in my fish pond. Liner taping is very important to build a best backyard garden pond as it prevents big folds of liner coming out from the sides of a fishpond. I made 4 large folds in the corners of the pond. I have used firestone quick prime 250ml to prepare the surface, a double sided quickseam splice tape and singe sided quickseam formflash tape to completely seal the folds. The way I tapped the corners might not look professional but it does the job as you can see how clean my backyard garden pond looks from the inside.
    During the liner installation process, I managed to get the glass IN too. I will upload a separate video on how to make a frame and install a glass in a pond. But for now if you want to cover all the small details on preparing and installing pond liner then read my article on fishaholic here www.fishaholic.net/2021/09/in...
    This is not the best garden pond in the backyard but I have put in quite a lot of hours and energy into building this pond. I really hope you will enjoy this video and might inspire some of you to build your own above ground fish pond. Please let me know your views in the comment section below and share this video if you find it useful and informative.
    Thank You

      Koi will look amazing in the pond, how big is the baby koi? And how big are your goldfish.
      I had 18 to 25cm goldfish which I traded for large angelfish

      Your fish will grow big fast once they are moved to a pond. My pond is around 2500 liter, couldn't go bigger due to space constraints.

      Hi Neil, appreciate your feedback. Pond is doing well, I have built an overhead filter and have few Oranda goldfish in the pond. It's winter over here so waiting on spring to come so I could add some plants and more fish.

    Great work. I am thinking of making a structure out of interlock bricks, I will install the liner inside the bricks and fill it with water and put in a 1000gpm pump for a fountain and maybe add some fish.

      Sounds like a big pond project Daljeet, I have only built pond using wood and liner so don't know how complex it could be with bricks. Wish you all the best 👍

    • @Fishaholic
      @Fishaholic  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Joey, its 2500 liter pond, kept it small so I could have space for outdoor furniture. Cost is roughly 3,500 as it is and will have to spend atleast another grand for electrical work, pump, lights and filter.

    What if we seal the wood with fiberglassing instead of using a liner?

    • @Fishaholic
      @Fishaholic  2 роки тому +1

      Wood has the tendency to expand and shrink due to moisture and dry external factors. I have not use fiberglass so not sure if it will work.
